21st Apr 2015 (愛後餘生 – Nicholas Tse)

The song for today is “愛後餘生” by Nicholas Tse. I have completely forgotten about this song, but happened to heard it today randomly. This song was a big hit many years ago and it was a movie theme song. The direct English translation of the title is “Life after love”.

The lyrics of the song are about the aftermath of breaking up, how the protagonist view and deal with the incident. He said, he shared her beauty once. Departed from her made him stronger. Making his dried skin shine, but hope that his heart wasn’t scratched. Even if from the beginning, he could forget to love others all because of her. Letting the hand go, and he could hug many other people. Even if the wide world is without love, but she is still there. Burn a whole forest, and used the heat to accompany it. Please don’t say to meet up another day, why not just say that she will skip the meeting next time. Let that warm bed sheet dry up, and lay on the road that you just passes by. Even if from the beginning, he could forget to love others all because of her. Letting the hand go, and he could hug many other people. Even if the wide world is without love, but she is still there. Even though she will never arrive again, but when he thought of her, how could he kiss another person again. Hope you will like the song.

10th Mar 2015 (冥想 – Nicholas Tse)

The song for today is “冥想” by Nicholas Tse. This song was a theme song for a movie. The direct English translation of the title is “Meditation”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist broke up with his girlfriend yet he still thinks about her. He said, he wishes that in the future he could still remember that feeling, the feeling of her inside his throat. Their pace slowly deviated from each other, separated into two worlds. Then his eyes turn red, letting her to become water to be evaporated. Planet is rotating, so it wouldn’t realised that they are going to breakup. The planet is circulating, it doesn’t contain her nor him, the long night didn’t become short. If in the future he still thinks of her, he will try his best not to think. But she is in his throat, full of her in his stomach, so he could only meditate until he dies. If loneliness eats him up, he will accept his fate and prepare. Using his tears to get her out of his system, feel proud; he could finally forget about her but he feel weak. Before his tears come out from his eyes, at least let him see her once. Then he would understand that the path was dangerous, but at least before the good bye he at least tried one minute of the wedding dinner. Chewing gum never changed, sweetness and bitterness is fighting. Planet is rotating, so it wouldn’t realised that they are going to breakup. The planet is circulating, it doesn’t contain her nor him, the long night didn’t become short. If in the future he still thinks of her, he will try his best not to think. But she is in his throat, full of her in his stomach, so he could only meditate to fly away together. Their heart will not die, and he will dream that they will be together. She is in his throat, in his pulse, forgetting her is like forgetting himself, how to breath? Hope you will like the song.

3rd Apr 2014 (邊走邊愛 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “邊走邊愛” by Nicholas Tse. I really like the melody of the song. The direct English translation of the title is “Run and love at the same time”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that from his fingertips jumping over his hair to his dreams; from his pillow side to the outside. From desert to the busy city; from train stop to platform. With an adventure heart, watching over this journey while holding her hand. The journey is so bumpy that it is enough to make them fainted. Every time, he wanted to ask her whether she wanted to rest in a happy garden. But too bad, either it was too windy, she walked too fast or he lost himself on the way. He spent his life to catch up to her, but when he reached the end, he doesn’t know where she is. He was thankful that she was with him for a few miles until they were separated. Dandelion was dancing with her, how high could it fly and how many miles will it goes. From knowing each other to living together and almost synchronised, at the next stop they will become no body. He is worry that no matter how much more he loves her, they will not be able to live in the happy garden. If he knows that the car was too slow or that she walked too fast, he would rather left himself behind in the journey. It was lucky that he catches up to her, but he doesn’t want to know where she would be when he reached the end. No matter how long it was, at least they have been together, so you can’t say they are separated. Hope you will like the song.

14th Jan 2014 (別來無恙 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “別來無恙” by Nicholas Tse. This song is from my favourite Nicholas Tse’s album “零距離” (“Zero distance”), there are a lot of good songs in this album. It is hard to translate the title, the closest that I could think of in English is “How have you been?”

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that the sky at day time and at night is the same; the stars here or at the South Pole are the same, they all shine. From the day before yesterday to today, things never change; everything will stay the same. He said he will always admire her, regardless of how she looks. He will always loves her, and she will always matches his imagination. For her, he will always do his best regardless. He will be ok regardless of when she will see him again. He will never get lost, as he will always be the same. No matter how’s the world change, he will always walk towards her and that’s his direction.

4th Dec 2013 (改造人 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “改造人” by Nicholas Tse. This is one of my all-time favourite. Despite it is my favourite, I just realised today that I always got the wrong singer. I always thought that this song was sung by Eason Chan, because I got one of Eason’s albums and in it he sung this song (it was a concert recorded version, but they included it in a non-concert album). So every time I heard this song, I thought of Eason instead of Nicholas (but note that Eason actually wrote the song). The English translation of the title is “Cyborg” (directly translating the title, it actually means “Altered man”, which probably better suit the lyrics).

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist feels that he needs to change to suit his girlfriend. At the start of the song, the protagonist said that they are thinking about what to do, who to take charge. At this moment, he feels that she is the one making the decision, the one who decide happiness and sadness. If there isn’t happiness, then just let him complain. But it seems that she ignore his complain, and he feels that there is no way out. He silently condolence and thinking who he is altering for, no matter whether he will be with her or not, he wanted to keep his image. At the end, he believe that changing for her is still a good thing, but what to do if he can’t change. Hope you will like the song.

27th Nov 2013 (欺騙觀眾 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “欺騙觀眾” by Nicholas Tse. The direct English translation of the title is “Lying to the audience”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist wanted to breakup, but they don’t want other people to know about it and make a big issue out of it. So at the beginning of the song, the protagonist said he need to keep smiling, so that it could block his tears from coming out. No matter how drunk he wanted to pretend to have a clear mind. Please don’t yell or become silence, as this is needed to avoid others knowing, which will mess up everything. He feels that the happiness feels funny. He knows that his friends are thinking which of them just got dump. So he decided to acts with his girlfriend, to tell everyone that everything is ok, so that others will stop talking about them. He also this acting so that the relationship would remain with a better image in his head. With this, even if they breakup, they could easily handle it. The next step is to cry and smile, he hopes that this will not become another guessing game. He knows that there is no need for him to make a decision now. But he realised that no matter what he does, it seems to become important in others eyes. Hope you will like the song.

24th Nov 2013 (罪人 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “罪人” by Nicholas Tse. This was one of my favourite songs. The direct English translation of the title is “Criminal”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins with the protagonist wondering whether it is his jealous or his loneliness make him lost his balance. HE would uses his life to fix this relationship. Was it misunderstanding or that he was over the top back then. Perhaps he really had hurt her and now he have to remember it for life. This incident still causes a crack and it still hurt. She doesn’t want to forget and she just wants to treat him like a stranger. She wanted to avoid his eyes contact and tried to stop him from getting closer. How could this called fair, as he felt that he is a criminal. He wonder is it that he let himself fallen or that the reality pushes him to the edge. He felt that his treatment is a bit cold blooded, but he tried not to think about it. Is it disappointed or that he just doesn’t want to be left alone. He remembers that she said she still love him. Hope you will like the song.

16th Sep 2013 (啟示錄 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “啟示錄” by Nicholas Tse. I used to love this song. I remember when I first got the album, I keep looping this song. The direct English translation of the title is “Revelation”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins by asking us what we learn in the crazy world. If a friend of ours lost contact, what will happen to his family? If we regret, what will we get, could we go back to the beginning? The protagonist is feeling sad and he wonders how she feels tonight. Why are we scare to apologise and worry that we don’t have a partner? These aren’t enough to  destroy him, but enough to enlighten him. Watching the commit passes by is enough to get them feel happy again. So from today, he decided that she is the only person that he will ever love and no matter what, he will not leave her. Hope you will like the song.

16th Mar 2013 (今天你生日 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “今天你生日” by Nicholas Tse. I chose this song for today because it is the first anniversary of this blog!!! Yeah!!! I never thought I can actually commit to write a post per day. Initially I thought it would be easy to choose a song each day as I got so many songs in my iTunes. But as times goes, each day is getting harder and harder as I realised that I only listen to a fraction of my collection. Then again, part of the purpose of this blog is to encourage me to listen to more of my collection :D so this is rather enjoyable even though it gets a bit difficult.

I purposely chose this song for the first anniversary of this blog because I got a story about this song. I remember many years ago, perhaps 10 to 12 years ago, it was my mum’s birthday. Back then I was so excited with computer (well, I actually still excited about computer and gadgets), that was the time when computer are getting more common. My mum, being a typical last generation person, hardly uses the computer (partly because she don’t quite know how to use it), only use the computer occasionally to read overseas news. Because it was her birthday, I search on internet to see whether I could change the logon music (it was window XP) to a happy birthday song, so that when she use the computer it will play happy birthday. I guess I was too optimistic….First, as a novice on computer, I didn’t manage to change the logon music. To fixed that I think I somehow manage to like the song with the internet explorer, so that when internet explorer opens, it plays the song. But the second problem occurs, on her birthday, she didn’t turn on the computer in the morning (she usually read the news in the morning). So I remember I came up with some excuse asking her to turn on the computer (and she was a bit reluctant). So I just can’t wait to see her reaction, I was standing next to her when the computer was loading. At the end, because the whole thing was so complicated, the song didn’t play automatically, I have to click it. I guess she wasn’t that excited either. You might want to ask what this story got to do with the song right, well, the song that I used for her so call birthday surprise was this song by Nicholas Tse. The English translation of the title is “Today is your birthday”. Not to mention that because the song is so not a typical birthday song (it is more like a rock and roll with a long intro section), my mum didn’t realised the song was for her birthday, so that birthday surprise was a complete failure.

The lyrics of the song are about birthday. This song got a very simple theme, it basically say that as today is your birthday, so the world is yours today. The song start off saying that you might have been treated badly and you might have been poor. You might have been unhappy, luck was never accompanying you and things only get worse and worse. But today is your birthday, your luck will definitely get better, snacks are all lying on the table waiting for you to eat them. Today is your birthday, no matter what others feel, they will all listen to you, all the people will become your best friends and give you presents. Yes, perhaps things weren’t great before and nothing had made you happy. But today is your birthday, everyone will play with you. Today you are god, so theoretically you will easily get happy and everything that you dream of will came true. Today you are god, so all your friends will make you happy.

I quite like the lyrics of this song as it is very positive, it keeps telling you that things will get better. If it is your birthday today, I wish you happy birthday. Hope you all will enjoy the song.

10th Nov 2012 (玉蝴蝶 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “玉蝴蝶” by Nicholas Tse. This song came out in 2001. From memory this song was one of those used for promotion for the album, but it didn’t get very popular. The English translation of the title is “Jade butterfly”.

The lyrics of the song are quite complete, I am not sure whether I completely understand what it try to say, but I will share my thought. My understanding of the lyrics is that it talks about the protagonist making up difference names for his lover. But at the end he seems to conclude that no matter what he call her, she will still respond and she will still be who she is. I guess what it tries to say is that when you love someone, no matter what he/she is like you will still love them because you like their personality. Hope you will like the song.

23rd Oct 2012 (蒸發 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “蒸發” by Nicholas Tse. This song is quite old, but is a few of those songs that I really like. In fact the album that this song was in was one of my favourite albums. The English translation of the title is “Evaporated”.

This song is about acceptant. The lyrics didn’t go in depth of explaining what the protagonist was doing, but it seems that the love between him and his lover is not accepted by this world. He feel that acceptant have been evaporated from the world. He wishes that the two of them could just evaporate from the world too (to free themselves from others). Hope you will like the song.

13th Sep 2012 (無聲仿有聲 – Nicholas Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “無聲仿有聲” by Nicholas Tse. This song is one of my favourite from Nicholas. The English translation of the title is “Silence is more eloquent than words”.

The lyrics are basically about the protagonist don’t like to speak much and a lot of people (especially his girlfriend) misunderstood him. So instead of explaining himself, he decided to kiss and hug her to show his love to her. Hope you will like the song.
