7th May 2015 (朋友, 請不要傷悲 – Raymond Lam)

The song for today is “朋友, 請不要傷悲” by Raymond Lam. This song was released in 2007. The direct translation of the title is “Friend, Please don’t be sad”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist talking to a friend who had just broken up and heart broken, so the protagonist tried to get his friend to view it from a different angle. It said: “Friend, please don’t be sad. Today he ignore you all because previously he loves you. Life is too short to make the relationship long; there is always surprise during fun. How he treated you, it is just all fate. Why happiness turn into hatred, your partner had already betrayed you. You wished it to be long, but the relationship just sadly short. You hold hands before, now broken up; even though both aren’t under your will. This standard result, how to choose? Wouldn’t die, and you will only be hurt for a few days. During youth, we changes so much, so getting hurt is hard to avoid. It is lucky that you got him to point out your weakness, so that you can fix it. He doesn’t love you, well, you can self-help. That rope, it must be cut, even though it might not be under your will. From tomorrow you need to plan for yourself. You should stop trying and loving something that is broken. How to choose? A life of fate, might not be something that you can choose. Please don’t let your tears to exaggerate the incident, he would love you because of your hate. “Don’t leave, don’t leave” saying this is already tiring; he will leave at the end anyway, so don’t be sad. Please treasure your life as it is very short.” Hope you will like the song.

14th Sep 2013 (幼稚完 – Raymond Lam)

The song that I decided to talk about today is “幼稚完” by Raymond Lam. This song was requested by one of the fellow reader of this blog (see “29th Mar 2012 (單車-Eason Chan)”). It has taken me some time to decide whether I should talk about this song as I am not a big fan of Raymond. This song was a song from last year and it was a theme song of a TV drama. The direct English translation of the title is “Finish being childish”, note that the title is playing with words. The title pronounces as “kindergarten”, so potentially having double meaning in the title.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins with the protagonist telling us that he knows him and her can’t go back to the time when they still deeply love each other. Time has passed and everyone will have to growth up, but all the paths goes in different directions. Since then they separated, while she make her way forward, he childishly remain in the same place. Times make him think more of his past. He wonders whether she is happy or perhaps she is very busy. He wonders whether she is still serious all the time. Perhaps she got a new boyfriend, a mature partner, so mature that he doesn’t argue with you. It is that the protagonist is resisting to growth up? He is still thinking about their past, still naïve enough to think of her. Now he is has moved into a new home, but she still kept their old sofa. Perhaps she knows that when he falls, he likes to think of her, and also think of her when he is tired. He is still questing whether he is resisting to growth up. Hasn’t he learnt how to pretend to be happy? Time flies and he is already grownup, but he see people being stupid, so stupid that he wanted to cry. It is such a crazy world. So please let me finish being so naïve, so that he could get what he wished for, to meet her again. If there is a time machine in front of him, he wonders whether he could be naïve once more. Hope you will like the song.

19th Sep 2012 (所謂理想 – Raymond Lam)

The song that I chose for today is “所謂理想” by Raymond Lam (Lam Fung). This was a theme song for a TV drama that Raymond acted in. To be honest, I don’t quite like Raymond’s song, but this one is an exception. The English translation of the title is “So-call dream”.

The lyrics area bout chasing after dream. It discuss how someone can chase after their dream but at the end forgot everything else that they used to care about, like their love one. So this song discuss whether it is worth to protect our dream when we have to scarify so much for it. Hope you will like this song.
