9th Nov 2015 (風裏密碼 – Aaron Kwok)

The song for today is “風裏密碼” by Aaron Kwok. If I remembered correctly, this was a theme song for a movie. The direct English translation of the title is “Password in the wind”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said: “Loneliness will cool; old love will be painful. Sadness and happiness past memories flashing in my mind. Falling in the crowd, couldn’t believe that we meet, make me really wish to see rainbow. I still believe that it was because of you giving me love, providing the warm blow of wind in the busiest time. Never turn cold, always accept me, giving me the strength to march forward, dissolving the pain in my heart. During down time, friends’ voice are covered with wind, they are like the spring rain, giving me comfort. At night, when it is troubling, I gaze at the stars, it felt like they gave me a hug, even they are so far. I am grateful that you are with me, make me feel better even at troublesome time, the love never changed. Even if we haven’t seen each other, but your greeting comforted me. Singing this song, is like a letter. Using love as a sign, through the wind. Wish that true friendship start around the world. Found you, even if you are the only one I will have enough. At a not far distance, I saw the starry sky, like a password in the wind, connecting out hearts together.” Hope you will like the song.

1st July 2015 (最激帝國 – Aaron Kwok)

The song for today is “最激帝國” by Aaron Kwok. This is one of Aaron’s iconic songs. The direct English translation of the title is “Most exciting kingdom”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist and his partner wanted to have a very wild night together. He said: “Excitement, is the colour for tonight, is out objective for tonight. Your, mine, eyesight and characters are so exciting. Like we have a consensus, from the time we know each other, rub and rub to create lots of sparks. There is a world in our spirit, there is a kingdom in there, and its name is the most exciting. Come and love for excitement, come and sing for excitement. Come and dance for excitement and I will give you the most exciting things. Come and kiss for excitement, never ending excitement. There is nothing common for love if you wanted to live in the most exciting way. Exciting, is the wild moon light, is the wild animal sweat. Cold, warm, yours and mine are all mixed. The more I see you, the more you become excited, no way to analysis. Those that could be see, those that can’t be seen, there are thousands sparks. Together we go into my world, into my kingdom, to be most excited with me all the way.” Hope you will like the song.

10th Apr 2015 (臨行 – Aaron Kwok/今を抱きしめて– NOA)

The song for today is “臨行” by Aaron Kwok. This is a reader request. This song is the Cantonese cover version of a Japanese song “今を抱きしめて” by NOA. The direct English translation of the title is “About to walk”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist broke up with his girlfriend, although he doesn’t want to her to leave, but he know he have to go no matter how much he loves her. It said, before he goes, he really doesn’t want to see her leave, still doesn’t want to let her hand go, please forgive that he step back this moment. Before he leave, he doesn’t want to say too much, before he leave, he just wanted to sing a song, to remember the time that they spent together. How to tell her when he is happy, how to say thanks to her, the journey to search for dream at the end just become a story. The unforgettable support, the hard to forget sentence, this is the only time that it could make him cry. His lonely journey continues. When he is lonely he thinks of her. When he is lonely he think of this night, accompanying her, talk about their thought. No matter how much he doesn’t want to, he still got to leave, still got to let go. Just pretend that the time that they spent together is forever. I have also linked to the Japanese original, hope you will like the song.

20th Mar 2015 (錯愛的呼喚 – Aaron Kwok)

The song for today is “錯愛的呼喚” by Aaron Kwok. This song follow the trended that I started from 2 days ago, it is a follow up of Aaron’s “愛的呼喚”. Corresponding songs are rare, from what I know of there is only a few existed.  There were Anita Mui’s “孤身走我路” and her student Denise Ho’s “如無意外”, with Denise’s song somewhat inspired by Anita’s. Danny Chan’s “不再問究竟” and Edmond Leung’s “一再問究竟”, Danny’s one was about a guy that got dump and when he was on the way home he bump into a kid. The kid saw his watery eyes and asked him why. In Edmond’s song, he continued this story and said that the kid is now grown up and he finally understand what happened to the guy in the first song. Priscilla Chan’s “傻女” and “傻女的新衣”, as mentioned yesterday are about the love stories of the girl. These types of songs are very rare because for a pair like this to occurred, the first song usually got to be a timeless classic. Then overtime this song need to influenced another singe enough to make them wanted to continue the story. Anyway, back to the song, the direct English translation is “Wrong love call”.

The lyrics of the song describe an alternative version to “愛的呼喚”. In “愛的呼喚”, the two people got attracted to each other, and they were able to stay together. But in “錯愛的呼喚” they are still attracted to each other, but due to their situation, they couldn’t be together. The protagonist asked whether his lover is ok, as she and her boyfriend seems to be very sweet. But he want her to remember to deep his sweater into the tea. Travelled to Rome as honeymoon? He will just pretend that she let her boyfriend to borrow some happiness. He wanted her to remember for live the happiness time they had in Mandarin Oriental (a 5 stars hotel in Hong Kong). Did he treat her well? That time they almost face each other naked. He still carried her through the wind and he think that it is worth it. Before they start the trip she was bitten, does it still hurt now? She hold up this light coloured green tea, lowering her head, she said that she love someone too much, so for the future she will not get married. She said that she was a truthful person, but why now she become a person that believe her fate is premade for her? Why does she think that once she escaped from her most loved person she could reborn? If this is call love, he wouldn’t call her stupid. Perhaps he did something wrong as well. How many people in this world could give him this feeling? Unless her boyfriend is like him, otherwise why she need to apologised to her boyfriend? If one day, she managed to find the next guy, but if she kisses that guy she feel painful, she can go and ask him. Did she treat him well? The flower that he once gave her. He suspected that she loves it so much that she smells it a few time before she sleep each night. Back then she like to stay in his house, spending her unused holiday in her life. Why back then when the world shakes, she hadn’t thought of getting married? Who is the person that called her? But whoever it was she rushed to try to fall in love again. Perhaps she did something wrong as well, but every time she broke up, she think of him. Unless that guy is like him, otherwise why she need to apologised to that guy? He only allows her to hate him, who would, after breaking up for 6 years, asked whether he had think of her. Who is the person that makes her lips still a bit of pain? It was him. Hope you will like the song.

14th Feb 2015 (愛的呼喚 – Aaron Kwok)

Happy Valentine ’s Day. While Valentine’s Day has been highly commercialised (and should not be further promoted that way), I think we should still celebrate it for what St. Valentine had done, his sacrifice for love. So I have picked a love song for today, which is “愛的呼喚” by Aaron Kwok. This song is one of Aaron’s classic. It was used for a mobile service provider ad in the 90’s when many of these companies were fighting for the market. Aaron was hired for the company “One2Free”, their major opponent back then was “Hutchison”, which was the company that first used big star for their ad. Hutchison used Leon Lai in their ads. These ads all tend to have a story to them. One thing that “One2Free” did was that they chained their ads together to form a story. If I remember correctly, they used 3 ads. What they did was that at the end of each ad, Aaron, as the protagonist has to make a decision, and audience can all a phone number to vote on what decision he should make. After a week or so, they will air the second ad and the story will continue based on the vote. From memory it was the first time people can vote for the direction of an ad, and I couldn’t remember anyone else did this after these ads. Back to the song, the direct English translation of the title is “Call of love”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said: “the light wind is seeped with rain, the freshness felt like you face, always yearning. Like to watch a rainy day, love to see you again, picking up the relationship again. The sense of love will never be broken, even when the world and sky changes every day. Loving you more and will never reduce. Love to hear your voice the most. Who is calling me softly? It reignited the love fire in my heart. Lucky to have you, so that I will not rove and waste time. Come and hug me tightly, and put a lock on my infatuation. Whether it is happy or sad, your soft voice will always lighten me up. Voices will never be blocked, even if we are far away from each other. My heart is so hot like it is on fire. Finally seeing you again, yearning is a torment. Understanding through my heart, it is a love that will never die. It is a decision that I had think thoroughly, and I have found promises and results. I still thank you for giving me a poem like love. Even during the heard time, you are still accompanying me. Hope you will love the song and have a great Valentine’s Day.

24th Nov 2014 (遊園驚夢 – Aaron Kwok)

The song for today is “遊園驚夢” by Aaron Kwok. This song was quite old. While it was the song that got sent to radio and tv stations for promotion for that particular album, but I think it wasn’t as big comparing to Aaron’s other previous popular song. Despite that, I personally quite like this song as it differ quite a lot from traditional Aaron’s songs, and it got a mystic feel to it. The title of the song related to a Chinese play “牡丹亭” (Peony Pavilion), the direct English translation of the title is “Travel through the park, scary dreams”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist dreams that he entered a utopia, where it is filled with love that last forever. It said, the day he left, it felt like that millions of years had passed because he got into a dream that he really loves. In the sweet dream, it felt like an amusement park. In this park, there are no sadness and love are all around. He heard that there are loves that last forever; both will love each other, never change their mind and will go over all the problems together. Pure love, will never wanted to change, there are no end point to it. In this sweet dream, he landed in this amusement park. The thing that touches him the most is that she is in front of him and gave him true love. Using love and kindness, she filled his thought. Never change and never will change, all he wanted is that every day his day will be perfect. The day he left, he enters this amusement park. HE found this dream, but it wasn’t long enough. In this sweet dream, he was lucky that he found love. HE wishes that he will never wake up from this dream and it will last forever. In this sweet dream he got a promise, but after he woke up this promise turn sour, and he never see this promise again. Hope you will like the song.

6th Oct 2014 (失憶諒解備忘錄 – Aaron Kwok)

The song for today is “失憶諒解備忘錄” by Aaron Kwok. This is one of Aaron’s classic. The direct English translation of the title is “Amnesia understanding memorandum”.

The lyrics of the song are about communication. It said, human is like transparent, this world have turn crazy. The purpose of existent has disappeared and everyone is busy. When we face the lost story, we got sacred. Lost your memory already? Don’t need to be surprise. Memories, already lost; memories, obsoleted. Don’t like to say much and don’t like to lie. Don’t want to think and not afraid of this panic. I tried to avoid you but I found out that you are also trying to avoid eye contact with me. No longer willing to be truthful and not willing to face each other. Please try to understand and please try to make a memo on this. Trend is to forget and it is hard to resist. Hope you will like the song.

2nd Oct 2014 (聽風的歌 – Aaron Kwok)

The song for today is “聽風的歌” by Aaron Kwok. The direct English translation of the title is “The song that listens to the wind”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that he got to separate with her such that they could meet again. Why time floats slowly and let loneliness growth? Now he couldn’t be in love with her and he could only hold up his emotion in his heart. He only hopes to listen to the song that they used to listen together before. This song that lives in the wind is full of tenderness and love, it is like his partner talking to him. In the song they two of them are together and that’s the purpose of life. Even they are now separated, but he still believes that she could hear all the tender words. A love song, always lives in the wind. If one day she managed to hear the things that he said in the wind; as tender as her, as lovely as him, please sing this song. HE will become light wind to circle around her hair, and lock onto her hair. Even when they age, he is still willing to be together, just like how the sun hides in the wind at night. This song might have bought pain and love, but forgetting is never easy. The song in the heart, it is full of love. Hope you enjoy the song.

25th Aug 2014 (戰場上的快樂聖誕 – Aaron Kwok)

The song for today is “戰場上的快樂聖誕” by Aaron Kwok. Personally I don’t like this song too much as I believe fast pace songs is much more suitable for Aaron, but nevertheless this song was quite popular back in the 90’s. The direct English translation of the title is “Christmas on the battlefield”.

The lyrics of the song are about peace. The protagonist said that when he was talking to his friends, they talk about their relationship. They found it interesting as there were happiness, pain and loneliness. When they talked about Christmas, the fun begins. They challenged each other and use their brain to try to win. “I wish you I wish you I wish you Merry Christmas”. Reduce the urge for war, couldn’t we sing Christmas carols in this holiday? “I wish you I wish you I wish you Merry Christmas”, these are all his true words, wishes that you could hear it. He still thinks of the poems that he wrote when he was no body. He loves Christmas as he like to laugh and dream. The time past had past, even sung those songs again we don’t get the same feeling. “I wish you I wish you I wish you Merry Christmas”, could we stop fighting each other during this holiday? “I wish you I wish you I wish you Merry Christmas”, he wishes that you could think about your past and stop fighting for once. “I wish you I wish you I wish you Merry Christmas”. Hope you will like the song.

21st July 2014 (如果一世得不到 – Aaron Kwok)

The song that I chose for today is “如果一世得不到” by Aaron Kwok. It was a song from 1995, a theme song of a movie. The direct English translation of the title is “If I will never get it in my life”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said if they continue their love, it would bring more sadness. Because they love each other, so they have to be separated. This theory will never change. The person accompanied you will never be the one you love the most. If breaking up now will freeze the best moment, then he is willing to breakup even though he is not happy with the decision. If he will never get her in his life, then it would get him to dream of her more. So ending like this perhaps is the best. Getting old in a normal way is painful, so ending like this perhaps is the best. In his memories, she will never age. Remember the best moment. Because we don’t have enough, so we treasured. Remember the most painful, as you still haven’t let it go. Because he missed it, he wishes that when she feels lonely, she could think about the time when they were deeply in love. He still loves her truthfully, but how many could get old with their love one? If he will never get her in his life, then perhaps it is better to take a step back and let it end like this. If they could be together, no one would be able to guest the future, so perhaps ending like this is the best. In his memories, she will never age. Hope you will like the song.

14th July 2014 (純真傳說 – Aaron Kwok)

The song that I chose for today is “純真傳說” by Aaron Kwok. This is one of Aaron’s classic songs. The direct English translation of the title is “The Legend of pure”. It is a song from 1995, but still to date, this is a song that Aaron would sing in his concert.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that he had been searching and searching, and finally the shadows in his dreams could finally get close to each other. Perhaps it can, but it also looks it can’t, but for her he will wait. Because of the promise in his heart, they both give each other a never ending promise. This love promise, we are both trap in the road of love, trapped, but we will be romantic to the end. It once determined my dream, determined my life and determined my burning eyes. Why purity disappeared? How could purity be fake? How could our pure love be changed? Purity had long been extinct. Hope you will like the song.

23rd Apr 2014 (雨中感嘆號 – Aaron Kwok/Tell by your eyes – Mr. Zivago/雨が叫んでる – 田原俊彦)

I have been very busy yesterday, so didn’t manage to write a post. This one is filling in for yesterday, the one for today will be posted later tonight. Alright, the song for yesterday is “雨中感嘆號” by Aaron Kwok. This is the Chinese cover version of “Tell by your eyes” by Mr. Zivago. There is also a Japanese cover by田原俊彦, called “雨が叫んでる”. The direct English translation of the Chinese cover is “Exclamation mark in the rain”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that the heavy rain outside is slashing on the window and the road outside. This reminds him about the night that they spent together. He picked up his umbrella, and rush out wanting to talk to her face to face. He wanted to say sorry to her as he felt that he was too selfish. He was silly, and he wanted to make up for it today. He hopes that he will see her again on the street. Whether they have fate to meet again is like question mark. In the rain lonely night, he dances lonelily. He wanted to find her, but all he found is a pile of exclamation marks. He just wants her to know his loves towards her had never changed, but too bad there is no one that he could talk to. These are regrets that he can’t say out loud, but why they are like a blade, it makes him wanted to tell the truth, but she will never know. He believes that he got his punishment, and the punishment is enough. He felt that the rain outside are created from the tears in his heart. Because no matter how hard he tried to put up his umbrella, the rain still maintains to be heavy. He doesn’t want to put a full stop on his love, but it annoyed him when he can’t see her again. Hope you will like the song. I have also linked the original version and the Japanese cover for comparison.

13th Feb 2014 (化裝舞會 – Aaron Kwok)

The song that I chose for today is “化裝舞會” by Aaron Kwok. I have completely forgotten about this song if I didn’t hear it on the radio the other day. The direct English translation of the title is “Dress up party”.

The lyrics of the song are comparing love with dress up party. The protagonist said that once he put on makeup and selected his costume, this moment, everyone will be looking at him. Someone said that love is like wandering in a dress up party. He needs to loosen his legs and attract others with his eyes. He tried his best be match her and make her want him. He will pretend to be a hot guy or a tramp even though he doesn’t enjoy it much himself. Dancing, his eyes impression or his back, they are all just an impression; regardless who she want him to be, he will use love as their background. Yesterday she was acting sexy; today he is acting unconventionally. The unpredictable her is challenging the unpredictable him. In the love environment, there is all kind of people, then how should we act to match the love environment. We can decide our props and images. If she is acting cool, then he will act kind. The unpredictable her is challenging the unpredictable him. In the love environment, there is all kind of people, then how should we act to match the love environment. We can decide our props and images. Hope you will like the song.

27th Jan 2014 (鐵幕誘惑 – Aaron Kwok)

The song that I chose for today is “鐵幕誘惑” by Aaron Kwok. This is one of Aaron’s classic. The direct English translation of the title is “Iron curtain’s temptation”.

The lyrics of the song are about a person trying to get close to the protagonist, but the protagonist is the type that doesn’t show much of his emotion. It start by telling us that there was a thunder and a red frame break the darkness. The protagonist is know he is inside a machine, very cold (emotionless) and mysterious. How could messy hair break a heart? Electrocution and no one can get close to the iron curtain. Why it is her tears, why it is only this little bit of tears can remind who he is. He cried these iron tears, and they come from his heart, these make his heart become water. Someone charm him, someone shoot some heat energy at him, some charm him with tears and make him lost all his energy. Someone charmed him, someone work so hard for love, someone tempt him with her charm, he felt lost but excited. If they don’t strengthen the illusion, how could they freeze up their instinct. If she doesn’t know how to get close to him, it would be like two rock rubbing against each other. Making moves randomly is still hard to remove the protective shell from the heart. Not crying is his nature, he never get sad nor happy. Hope you will like the song.
