The song for today is “酒店大堂” by Eddie Ng. The direct English translation of the title is “Hotel lobby”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist staring at a girl, hoping that something will happen between them. It said: “A deem place filled with deem yellow light. The song for today is “玩火” by Eddie Ng. This is the Cantonese cover version of Bon Jovi’s “You give love a bad name”. This Cantonese version is one of the Eddie’s classic, many still think of this song first when they talk about Eddie. The direct English translation of the title is “Playing fire”.

This is a rather extreme song about love. The lyrics said that the protagonist is so angry that he had become indulgence for her, and now she become a better match for this other guy and she didn’t even care a bit. He once tried his best to cover up his pride, but he saw that she had already mixed in some fire powder. So lost, there is no logic. Kick away all the logic and change it all to fire powder. Oh, she is playing with fire, yeah. Oh, so sad, just like a wild fire, selling heat wave. Dropping hot blood, poking with broken glass. His heart is full of jealousy. Acting again, and using love as a bait. She doesn’t know how embarrassing it is, and still acting like she is attractive. You give love a bad name. He is lost, but whatever he does, is all for her. Love has become poison and smell like fire powder. She is a love trap. He felt that he is an animal trapped in a cage, yelling so loudly. The song that I chose for today is “我說過要你快樂” by Eddie Ng. Eddie was never really popular as a singer, though he is known more by his song writing in the Hong Kong music industry. This song that I chose today is pretty much the most popular song that he sung. The direct English translation of the title is “I said I want you to be happy”. While the title sounds more like it got a positive message, or like a wedding song, in reality it is the opposite.

The lyrics are about that the protagonist let her girlfriend goes to found her true love. In the lyrics it has shown that the protagonist is quite upset that he has to let her go, loving her in a way that no one else knew. Hope you will enjoy this song.
