The lyrics of the song is a story about the protagonist trying to express his love to the girl that he likes but he doesn’t have the gut to do so. The protagonist said: “The thing that I worry the most is that you may have someone else in your heart. That night I called you, you may be with your best friend or your parents. Still wish that you re single, so that I can get closer. The closer I sit to you, the closer it may get me to have the chance to kisses you. When I date you, I wouldn’t miss the time. The song for today is “一夜城” by Ken Hung. I haven’t heard this song until a few days ago. After I found Kani’s latest song the other day, I noticed that she have also sung a cover version of “ 一夜城”, so I decided to talk about it today. Personally, I like Kani’s version more than Ken’s, as Kani’s version got more emotion in it. But both versions are great. The direct English translation of the title is “One-night city”.

The lyrics of the song gave a sense of isolation. It is about how a love relationship could means a lot to us when we are the one involved, but the rest of the city feels nothing. The protagonist said: “Once again bite up the sedatives. So tired that I want to give up my body. But I know that in the work place, crying is a crime. After work, I am trapped in the city. If I cry, who would understand this weak person. You have already pull yourself away, and moved the crowd away, feeling even more empty when I am surrounded by this busy environment. Who have been evaporated each day in the city? Who got left behind? So many main roads, but I am stuck here. Relationship, turned into a process in my body. Wanted to cry but why there isn’t any tears? Who can I hug this moment? And who will I say goodbye to tomorrow? All these buildings, witnesses so many meet up and break up. The pair of watch that we had, now is in another person hands.  There are a millions pair of lover in the metro train, but not many of them can be together to the age of eighty. You, me and him have been drunk by the neon light, where will we be? Who have been evaporated each day in the city? Who got left behind? Hard to escape the loneliness, but I still join this party. I can only whine with friends from time to time. Laugh a few times then suddenly cry. Who is sighing that they have just lost someone, then suddenly meet another. Breakup and meet up, I am so tired from running. Walked pass the expensive shops street, and left behind some homeless to get drunk. The song for today is “彌敦道” by Ken Hung. Although this song is not very popular, but it is one of Ken’s more popular songs. I personally quite like it. The direct English translation of the title is “Nathan Road”.

Nathan Road is one of the major roads in Hong Kong, it goes through number districts, and it is busy very much all the time. The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist walking along this street, thinking of the time that himself and his ex-girlfriend spent on this road. He said: “There are too many people and cars arounds. A busy road with a beautiful scene. Scare to wait so long for public transport. Wait in line and also bring an umbrella. Walked pass Sino plaza (a rather famous shopping complex located on the street) the heavy rain started. Following the long line but don’t want to get closer. Rubbed shoulder, then realised it was a familiar face. Silently gazed at each other for a few seconds. We also greeted at each other. Then we said goodbye, just like the time when we first meet again that day. So many past memories making my heart sweet. But the night rain touches these memories, making me sad. Gazing at her outline, knowing that she could no longer be mine. I never thought that I will have to hopelessly see her walk away. The word “breakup” didn’t leave behind any love. The voice that was hurt by love, is now become the past. If love is not stir, nothing would be enough. At the end, this memories ended.  Focusing on the distance view outside the car. So many noisy people out there. But I got lost, chasing the footprint, but without fate to guide me. If the ending could be change, I would treat her better, be closer to her. Meeting again and divided again, is cruel, but is a bit short. The sour memories stayed in my heart. But the night rain touches these memories, making me sad. The song that I chose for today is “三腳貓” by Ken Hung. The direct English translation of the title is “Three legged cat”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that he saw this cat all crunch up in an alley. From its eyes he can see that it is half dead. It half drags itself into the end of the alley. It uses all it strength but it still haven’t manage to lift its leg. It is that guy decided not to love you anymore, he asked. Going home, but got rejected? Wonder around the street is too scary. There is no more nice hug, no more warm bed, from now on, it needs to carry on with its strength. Perhaps it might only manage to last for an extra night. But too bad that you handed your future to that guy and dreamed that under his cover there would be nothing that you needed to worry about. That day when the guy lifted you up, so much happiness and attracted so many others being jealous of you. You thought that your life would be beautiful from then on, but today you got dumped. Naughty kids are making fun of you, and you are so sick that you feel like dying. Did that guy thinks that you were too native? Going home, to that dirty place that you called home. Suddenly you lost your home, this situation is very scary. You wanted a warm hug, warm bed and a good dinner. But now you can only fight on with your courage and you might only make it a few more night. Too bad that you handed your future to that guy, dreamed that he will protected you. The song that I chose for today is “獨活” by Ken Hung. This is a new song from this year. The direct English translation of the title is “Live alone”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that please don’t let him know about who his girlfriend was hugging when he was left alone by her. Slowly trust is losing, but the image of her being touched couldn’t be wiped. “Why can’t he be selfish and let her remove all her loyalty”, she asked, so he got no choice but to pretend to accept. There will always be someone that is son generous. She and the other guy is ahead of him, so he follow but scare to expose himself. Who is willing to expose this relationship? And tell the public about his obsession with her. He will not ask about who she was kissing. He can put his self-esteem down. He is still worry about her safety, worry about the time when she is making love with the other guy. He can lower his standard, and decommission themselves to find happiness. If he can hurt her, when someone asked why they haven’t seen the two of them being together anymore, should he quickly answer that because she fallen in love with another guy? He still haven’t confirm about the situation, so he reminded himself, he still haven’t seen her with the other guy, haven’t seen her dirty back. If it get dirty, we can wash it off, no need to worry.
