The song that I chose for today is “I’ll move on” by Olivia Ong. Olivia is one of my favourite singers and this is one of the songs that I really like from her.

I think this song got a Christian background, but despite that, it is still a song that get you keep going and keep moving on, and it is very positive. The lyrics are about how in life we faces many difficult, there are times that we want to give up on our dreams. But this song tell us that we shouldn’t, we know that we have been through something similar before, and we are so close to our dreams, we will be fool to give up on it now. We just need to take this step by step and eventually we will get to our goals.

The song of the day is “我願意” by Olivia Ong. The English translation of the title is “I Do”. The original version was sung by Faye Wong. I personally like Olivia’s version better, probably because her version is more fresh and modern. Beside I think I had listened to Faye’s version too many time, I have already got used to her way of expressing this song.

In simple words, this song is about a girl expressing her love. She is thinking of her boyfriend and she is willing to do anything for him and wanting to spend all her time with him. I guess it is a good wedding song. The two versions sounds very different, in fact, it is like two different types of girl expressing their love. Olivia’s version sound like the girl cute and energetic, more like a modern types of girl. On the other hand, Faye’s version sound like from a more elegant girl that are more quite in nature, a girl that is less energetic and thinks a lot. So I guess it depends on the type of girl that you like you will probably feel one version is better than the other. I have linked to both versions below, hope you will enjoy them both.

Today’s song is “True Colours” by Olivia Ong. The original was sung by Cyndi Lauper, but I think Olivia’s version is better, as I think her voice is a better match to the song.

Initially, when I first heard this song, I didn’t like it too much as the whole song is very flat. But one day I paid attention to the lyrics and I think that it is a very good song. This song is basically about how we should see ourselves. When our life became difficult, we tense to hide ourselves, when we acts differently, we will try to blend in with others. This song is telling us to be ourselves, let our true self to shown, and if we do that we will get all the love that we wanted we will shine through the world. Hope you will enjoy this song.

This song is about confusion. The mood and the tone of this song are very good at expressing that. Hope you will like this song too.

The song of the day is “Invisible Wings” by Olivia Ong. Olivia is a singer from Singapore and this is one of her many English songs. Like many other Chinese singers from Singapore, she made her name overseas first, but differently she started off in Japan. I think Olivia got a lovely voice, and this song is one of the songs that I have been keep looping over and over.

I especially love the lyrics of this song. It tells us that when we are unhappy, we should think about our hopes and dreams. One day we could fly up high with our invisible wing to reach our goals. (I have probably made the song sounds a bit stupid with my bad writing skill, but please try out the song, it is really a beautiful piece). Hope all of us can have a pair of invisible wing.

(Just for your information, this is a cover song from a Chinese song call “隐形的翅膀” (meaning “invisible wing”) by Angela Chang. But I think the English version by Olivia is a lot better)
