The song for today is “印象” by Sam Hui. This is one of my favourite from Sam, a song that very often popup in my head. The English translation of the title is “Impression”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist asked who was the person that caused him act abnormal that night, he found it hard not to look at her and asked for her forgiveness. He felt that he was so nervous all because he meets her, and she filled him up with imaginations. Who is the person that makes him lost his mind and touched his heart that started love, helped him escaped from sadness and searched for happiness. Who is the person that makes him felt like falling in his first love again? His heart is hiding a lot of love. He doesn’t know how to be in love and forever love each other. Accompanying each other to travel to the sky, just like how swallow fly. Together they will write a nice piece of music. Who is the person that causes him dreaming each night? Forever in his dream and always shining, making him guessing and not sure which way to go, leaving behind this deep impression. Hope you will like the song.

Happy New Year, I wish you will have a joyful and successful year 2015. I have chosen the song “快樂” by Sam Hui for today. The direct English translation of the title is “Happy”.

The lyrics of the song are about how simple happiness could be, I wish that through the song you could get more happiness out of your day to day life :D The lyrics said that happiness is like a sunny morning. Happiness is the beautiful sound of water. Happiness is there waiting for you every minute, as long as you know where to look. Happiness is the search of the stars in the sky. Happiness is the foot print in our memory. Happiness, really everyone got it, no matter whether you are rich or poor. Friendship, love from parents, warm his heart every day. Forgiving and fulfilling, kind and giving love, then happiness will always be a good match with you. Happiness is the smoke that leaves the city. Happiness is the feeling of taking a bath at home. The song for today is “最緊要好玩” by Sam Hui. Sam Hui is considered as the first generation of the king of Canton pop. This song was a theme song for a movie, and it was very popular back when it was released in 1985. The direct English translation of the title is “Being fun is the most important”.

The lyrics of the song are about how we should spend our time doing fun things. It said, human are main to be free and playful. Originally it doesn’t have any restrain and only got smile. He is not used to being sad, and he wants to chase after the sun like a bullet. Travel in a space shuttle and make a flip in the air; in the cloud tide his leg together to jump over hurdles. So proud, just like a very good detective, chasing after the love god without blinking our eyes. He wanted to climb a volcano, and pick up a volcano rock to fry an egg. Really, happiness is very simple, all it needed is to be fun. He is willing to hold the moon and blink to her with one eye, and set up a tent under the star light to be romantic. He is willing to stop time and just stare at her eyes, and make it impossible for her to forget how charming he is. Travel in a space shuttle and make a flip in the air; in the cloud tide his leg together to jump over hurdles. Chase after the sun, and wouldn’t let the sun to change shift so quickly. He wanted to ride a tricycle to land on the moon to sale skirt steak rice dish. Really, happiness is very simple, all it needed is to be fun. He is bourn to be free and playful. 5th July 2014 (沉默是金 – Sam Hui and Leslie Cheung)

The song that I chose for today is “沉默是金” by Sam Hui and Leslie Cheung. This is a true classic. The melody of the song was written by Leslie while the lyrics of the song were written by Sam. I think this song was originally sung by Sam along, but personally I like the version that both Sam and Leslie sing together. The direct English translation of the title is “Silence is gold”.

The lyrics of the song are about life. The lyrics uses complex words, so hopefully my translation could still capture its meaning fully. It said, at a windy night, the protagonist thinking about the past alone. Perhaps he was fully of anger in the past, false accusations and blame filled his stomach. He care so much about rumours. Now he learned his lessons and pointed to the right directions by books, he can now see it through and not trapped anymore. He feels that he understand now not like before; he rub off his tears and moved forward. Fate determined whether you are rich or poor. Wrongs will never be right and real will always be real. No matter what you said, he will just focus on his work as he believes that silence is gold. The society will judge, so watch your words and try not to attack others with words. When you bump into cold wind and rain, don’t be too serious. You should be confidence about yourself, ignore others attack and judging. Just let others laugh and yell at you, as you can just ignore it. We are young, so we can keep being ourselves. Keep going, and be ourselves. Hope you will like the song. 17th Sep 2013 (急流勇退 – Sam Hui)

The song that I chose for today is “急流勇退” by Sam Hui. This song is so old, it comes out when I was still a kid, going to kindergarten (or perhaps even before that, it has been so long). But I remember I love this song and I sing it a lot without knowing its meaning. The direct English translation of the title is “Retreating from the jet steam”. This is an old Chinese saying, meaning that we are at the top or peak of our achievement (career or anything else) and we decided to pull ourselves away from it. The lyrics of the song are exactly about that and this song was written by Sam himself for leaving his singing career.

I guess the lyrics describe Sam’s feeling and his reasons for leaving his singing career. It begins by telling us that everyone wanted to be famous, but who knows, all of a sudden he wanted to enjoy his freedom. So let’s keep this glory, stop waiting from today and retreat from this jet steam. Chasing after fame will always lead to fights and argument. He felt that he had been through the goods and bads in the entertainment industry. Once you have reached the peak, there will be one day you will fall. So worrying this career fall makes him feel tired. He doesn’t hope for a long lasting glory as long as he had once own it. Today he feels that it is enough, so it is time for him to leave. He thanks his fans for liking him. At this time, he is not dare to turn his head around after saying goodbye. He just wished that his fans will remember him and that after that night Their hearts will meet again through his old songs. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “天才白痴夢” by Sam Hui. I remember I used to like this song a lot when I was a kid. Back then I have no idea what the lyrics were about, I just like the melody. These days when I look at the lyrics I realise that it is very deep. This is a song from a movie that Sam starred in. The direct English translation of the title is “the stupid dream of a genius”.

The lyrics of the song are about dream. It started off telling us that everyone in the world are chasing after their dream. But we are all get lost in the process, sometime it looks great, but sometime it seems to fade away. Life is just like a dream. In this dream, we could suddenly turn upside down. We might feel bitterness when we are searching for happiness, and we haven’t learn to enjoy bitterness with happiness. There is always a purpose in our life and so all of us play an important role in this world. We all can achieve high in our life, there is no need to just dream about it. Dream is just a dream, when we woke up it will be all gone. So why do we need to found our perfect dream if everything is fake. It is better off to just focus on our current life, make the most out of it and enjoy. Hope you will like the song.
