The song for today is “Wanna Be” by Eman Lam. Eman is a member of at17, but currently both members are taking their own music path. I think currently they just want a break from their partnership, and work on the music that interested them the most. This song was from 2012, the first solo album by Eman.

The lyrics of the song are about life. The protagonist said that sometime she is a bit careless. Occasionally she wanted to look good. You, please follow her to make big changes. Every month would work on some small experiment. Getting by her time like this, she likes herself more than her life. It is best if she could like herself more. When she is touched, she will start. Wanna be your love, sometime, wanna be alone, sometime wanted to sleep alone. So becoming the biggest star, all you need is simply get the most normal curve (I guess it is referring to body curve here). All you need are the two words “Just” (note that “Just” in Chinese is two words). Wanna kiss a girl, wanna dance with a boy. She is so trendy, but today she wanted to catch butterfly. She got many dreams and she wanted some bravery. You, please go through many celebration with her, then they could go and do their own little secrets for memory. The song that I chose for today is “冇腳雀仔” by Eric Kwok and at17. I didn’t notice about this song until a few days ago when I accidently clicked on it. The melody is very simple (though the lyrics are complex). When I listen to it, it give me a sense of freshness and I feel quite relax. The direct English translation of the title is “Bird without legs”.

The lyrics of the song are about life. The lyrics are quite complex and I found it hard to do a line by line translation so I will just give a brief description of the meaning. The lyrics mentioned that there is a bird, it spent all it strength to fly forward to the most glamorous place on Earth. The bird just keeping looking to the future, thinking where to go next and didn’t seems to care about where it is now. The bird start to aged, and it realised that the world that it live in started to change. It tried to remember where it been to, but it got no memory of it and no proof of where it had gone before. Now, where does the bird wanted to go? It started to realise that it misses its childhood time, but there is no way it can go back now.

I found the lyrics are very strong. It basically tried to tell us that in our life, we just keep trying to move forward, chasing after our dreams. But in the process, we seems to forget about our surrounding, we don’t seems to enjoy the world that we are living in. So one day, when we stop, we might realise that we still haven’t reached our dreams, but at the same time, we have no memory of our past, we have never enjoyed our life. By then, we might want to go back in time to enjoy our life, but it is too late, as we can never go back. Hope you will enjoy the song.

The song that I chose for today is “窮得只有愛” by at17. at17 is a singing group in Hong Kong, consist of two people, Ellen Lo and Eman Lam. They are usually classify as an indie music group. This is one of the songs that I like that is sung by the group. The direct English translation of the title is “So poor that we only got love”.

The lyrics of the song is about love. I guess the lyrics somewhat describe the group themselves. In the lyrics, it mentioned that they are so poor that they almost can’t afford their daily living cost (a bit exaggerated I guess). But they don’t mind so much, because they feel happy when they got the chance to sing. Other people may have so much money and everything that they would ever needed in their life, but they don’t have love. Hope you will enjoy this song today.
