A Song a day: 16th Jan 2013 (窮爸爸

The song that I chose for today is “窮爸爸” by Andy Hui. This is one of the songs that I really like sung by Andy. The direct English translation of the title is “Poor dad”.

The lyrics of the song are very touching. It is about a dad and his son. His son wanted to move away from home (as he got married), so this dad, although he is poor, he give his son everything that he want, from old photos to new home theatre system. He told his son not to worry about him as he will manage and fix up the rest. Although he really don’t want his son to leave (as he feel very lonely), but he still support his son’s decision. He guess his son will never understand why his eyes are red when he wishes his son all the best in the wedding, and all he could say is that time pass by very fast.

I found this song very touching. Almost all parents will look after their kids regardless of the age, even when the kids have been fully grown up. Parents give them these unconditional love, sometime even it means that it will do damage to themselves. Though most people wouldn’t understand and appreciated this when it was happening, they would only realised it when this love ceases, and perhaps then it is too late. Hope you will like the song.
