13th Jan 2013 (尋找獨角獸 – Fiona Sit)

The song that I chose for today is “尋找獨角獸” by Fiona Sit. This song came out in 2007. The direct English translation of the title is “Searching for Unicorn”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist searching for her perfect match. But instead of telling the story normally, the writer uses a fantasy way to tell us this story. At the beginning, the song tells us that the bird on the tree is talking to the God of Wind, the huge monster is talking to the flower. All the monsters are running around trying to search for their perfect match, so the protagonist decided to join the search to find her white horse. When it was snowing, she dated with a fire dragon, but she can’t stand the fire dragon when it comes to summer. Everyone is searching for a home even the weirdest one, but it seems that she is the only one that is still single. Though she believes that there is a he waiting for her and she can create miracles. She knows that she will find the unicorn, but maybe the road to unicorn just takes a bit longer than others. She knows that she will have a happy ending, so she is not worry about the bumps on her life journey. At the end she walked through a waterfall and saw elves taking a walk, she knew that she is getting close to the place that she meets her perfect match. Even if the ending is bad, she can still imagine her own happy ending, as she is still young.

I quite like this song, as I feel that it describe the feeling of young very well. This way of thinking really only exist in teenager, it is only teenager (or young adult) who could still afford to spent time to chase after their dream without giving up due to reality. I guess this song reminded me of my youth. Hope you will enjoy the song.
