A Song a day: 11th Feb 2013 (由零開始

The song that I chose for today is “由零開始” by Leslie Cheung. Leslie was famous. This song came out in 1989. It was sung in Leslie’s concert, as he decided to leave Hong Kong music industry and move into other filed (such as focusing on movies). It is a typical Leslie song, yet, I don’t think anyone else could sing this song with the same feeling. The direct English translation of the title is “Starting from zero”.

The lyrics of the song are about Leslie think of the past about his music career. He said that his story all start from zero, when he was nobody. Those days were tough, but all he knows back then was to work harder. Then he said that he was happy to meet all his fans, now he wanted to leave this place for a while and move on with other things. He wonders whether we would still remember him when he decided to sing again. He said that he is looking forward for that day when he will meet us all again through his songs.

Although Leslie had passed away for many years, but he is still in many people’s heart. I am sure even now when he is gone, people will still remember his voice and his song. Hope you will like the song.
