The song for today is “直至消失天與地” by Ekin Cheng. This song was released in 1994, it is the Cantonese cover version of the Japanese song “Stay あなたの聲が聞きたい” by Voice. The direct English translation of the title is “Until it disappeared between sky and earth”. This song was the theme song of the TV drama “笑看風雲”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist asked who was the person that passes by here, make him understand the meaning of being alive. Who is this person that makes me in love for his whole life, even when the ending is not ideal. Now that you have left, he wishes you would know that he never changed his heart and he will not love another person. Even though he is unhappy, but there is nothing that he could do to stop it. The song that I chose for today is “友情歲月” by Ekin Cheng. I only realised that I haven’t talk about this song in the blog today and I can’t believe that after so long I haven’t talked about it. This is, if not one of, the most famous song by Ekin Cheng. This is his iconic song. When people think of him, they thought of this song, when people hear the intro of the song they will think of Ekin. This song was a theme song of a series of movies (which was about Mafia). This series was very successful, and many still talk about those movies today. I am not too sure on the exact reason why they stop making the series. Some people told me that the Hong Kong government asked to stoped the series as those movies portrayed mafia as a group of people that looks after each other and give youth the sense that being mafia is cool, hence increasing crime rate. The direct English translation of the title was “Friendship era”.

The lyrics are about friendship. It begins by saying that the disappeared time is dispersed into the wind, the protagonist doesn’t want to think about it and he doesn’t want to face it. He remembers the time when he was roving, his friends was there with him. The naïve voices have now gone, and all of them are moving forward to their goals. He looks up to the sky, thinking about the past and understands the tiredness in his heart. So let’s forget who’s right or wrong and just embrace the past. Being together and gone through so much, there must be some happiness moment. Never believe in hopeless and never hesitate. Challenging each other through our dreams and work our hardest every day. In the stormy days, and in the state of half clear half lost, everything seems to happened in a blur. The wind have calmed, and we have already all the favour, so let tears bring away our sadness. The song that I chose for today is “愈戰愈勇” by Ekin Cheng. This is a fast pace song, I like to listen to it when I do exercise. The direct English translation of the title is “The more we fight, the braver we get”.

The lyrics begin by saying that whoever need to run will run, whoever need to chase will chase; we will split into two teams. There could be a case in a case, a trap in a trap; everything is unclear. One mountain could be higher than another (This is an old Chinese saying, meaning that there is always some better than you are), but they are all just dirt. The protagonist said that he knows his own bitter and he will enjoy himself. He wouldn’t care what other said to him. He will spend his life protecting the truth. The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist told us that every time he was with his girlfriend he is happy. Being with her, there are no boring things in the world. The weather will turn sunny and things will become better. He just stares at the eyes that care about him. When he can’t be with her, he dream of her and think of all the happy things that they did together. He just wishes that they could be together soon. She is the one he love the most. The song that I chose for today is “長髮” by Ekin Cheng. The direct English translation of the title is “Long hair”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins with the protagonist saying that it is so quite at night and there are so many stars in the sky. But it feels like the dark sky is asking him whether his ex-girlfriend is happy and relaxes today. She had left him for a long time, so he doesn’t know how anything about her now, all he remembers was their past. He remembers that there was once she offered him her long dark hair and asked him to kiss her hair. His long hair reminded him of her, and the great time that they had together. Now looking at the broken hair, it can’t flow with the wind, and they can’t gaze at the stars together. He wonders whether her hair is long or short now, he wishes that he could see her. The song that I chose for today is “極速” by Ekin Cheng. This was a theme song for a move that was about motorcycle street racing. I remember my friend like to play this song in his car when he drive and pretend he was speeding. The direct English translation of the title is “Super speed”.

The lyrics of the song are about racing. It begins with the protagonist telling us that it is at night when starts and polices are at sleep. Now all of them get together and race. In the race the cars move like a snake and drift. They don’t want to wake up and they just wanted to be taken over by their emotion. During the race, they forgot anger and they feel that they become god and so many people worship them. Looking at the mirror, he sees his opponents are reducing in sizes and he feels stronger. He now feels that he is the king. Though at the same time, he understand that he is burning his youth and rising his life, but it seems that he just love the sensation that he gets from racing. The song that I chose for today is “E 病毒” by Ekin Cheng. Not sure why this song keep looping in my head today. The direct English translation of the title is “E virus”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. At the beginning, the protagonist said that the girl told him to get closer and then all of a sudden, she give him a hug and kiss him on his forehead. He starts to feel interested, but all of a sudden, she pulls her lips away from him, he feels that his heart suddenly pumps less frequent. Then she smile and continue, just when he was about to start, she tell him to get lost. He asked why she took out a book of record and recorded how he kissed her. He questions why she wanted to record his behaviour. He asked is falling in love with him is her little bio-experiment? Using his tears to write stories. Wouldn’t she feel sad by sacrificing him? Just like any other ordinary test sample? The result is scarier than death. So she uses him to investigate a disease, but when it all over, she told him that love is like a virus, there is no way to clean it all out of your system, it will destroy his central nerve. The song that I chose for today is “仍能情深愛上” by Ekin Cheng. I was listening to an old radio drama today and I heard this song in the radio drama. I think I heard this song before as the melody is quite familiar, but I remember nothing about the lyrics. The direct English translation of the title is “Still can fall in love deeply”.

The lyrics of the song are bout the protagonist falling in love. At the beginning, the protagonist said wonder why he felt so lost and at the same time a bit panic. Slowly, he realised that it was her who changes him. It was her that makes him fall in love again. He felt that his fire of love has been reignited.
