The song for today is “數字人生” by George Lam. This is a very unique song, majority of the lyrics are numbers. Although the numbers by itself doesn’t make sense, but somehow this song is very easily sink into your head. I remembered back when I was a kid I can sing the number part of this song after listening to it for a few times. The direct English translation of the title is “Number’s life”.

The lyrics of the song talks about how our life are determined or heavily depended on numbers. The song for today is “相對論” by Hins Cheng. As the melody was written by George Lam, there is a version that features George Lam (which I will also link to). The direct English translation of the title is “Relativity”.

The lyrics of the song are the protagonist understanding of love. It said, The mortal world is large, and it is nice to walk together, who wouldn’t wish for that. But that night, when she left, he felt that he is like a butterfly looking at Zhuang Zhou, existence and reality are two different things. (Zhuang Zhou is an ancient Chinese philosopher. A better known philosophy by Zhuang Zhou was “莊周夢蝶” (Zhuang Zhou dream butterfly), in which he had a dream, in the dream he turned into butterfly. After he woke up, he realised that he is still himself, a human. So he said how could be distinguish between reality and dream, if dream is real enough, no one could identify it as a dream.) He will keep roving. Before he was a teenager that chase after his dream, but that is just the back of loneliness. Previously he keep moving forward, then comes a period that he fall a lot. Previously he care the things right in front of him, and he never really care about the things that he left behind. But now he understand that things got a few faces, and it shows differences when it changes. Love is a limitless bubble, so just let it cover you. But it melts into your life and repeat every day. Keep living in a life that you look forward to everything, and relatively you feel happier. This moment he felt the inner peace and comfort, but he cried, cried, cried. He still wishes for a lot of things, but not getting them doesn’t need a reason. Someone once warmed his heart, but he have to bear with it now when it got cold. Floating on the road and they meet again, perhaps fate tight them together, who would have thought about this feeling after goodbye, it is too old to even become friend on internet. The song that I chose for today is “AH LAM 日記” by George Lam. I personally love the rhythm of this song. The direct English translation of the title is “Ah Lam diary” (George is typically referred by his Last name “Lam”).

The lyrics of this song are about love. The lyrics begin with “Let’s work harder, let’s work harder to change our partner. Remember, remember to take a new direction. Today I wanted to give you a lesson, perhaps you don’t want to listen but listening to it is better than not listening. The song that I chose for today is “真的漢子” by George Lam. I always found this song to be so old fashion, even back at the time when it came out, but regardless it is one of George classic songs. The direct English translation of the title is “Real man”.

The lyrics of the song are about man’s spirit. It said that regardless of success or failure we should try our hardest. If we have passion then there is never too late. The protagonist said that he never cares who is around him as he believes that success relied on his skill. So let’s be a real man and take on the pain and disappointment. He is willing to put himself into the project and uses all his strength to get the job done. Some enemy might pretended to be friend, but he can tell by their acts. This attitude is charming; everyone will have some sad in their life. Everyone will die once in their life, so he believes that he doesn’t need to further explain it. Great people were once craze man. So lets be a real man and make our way through the world; uses our hands to create touching stories. No need to worries about success and failure, we will use our true heart with passion to get what we wanted from this world. The song that I chose for today is “海市蜃樓” by George Lam. This is one of George’s classic. The direct English translation of the title is “Mirage”. This song is so 80’s, it is hard to find song that have these type of melody these days.

The lyrics are about love. It said that “The bright sun is like a beautiful girl, she control all the beats. The jumpy clapping sound sounds like the jumping beans in a hot fry pan. Everyone is joking and the happiness had spread into the air and flow into our blood. The bright sun kisses me, it felt like a tongue on fire licked me. The song that I chose for today is “似夢迷離” by George Lam. This is one of my all-time favourite songs. The direct English translation of the title is “As burred as a dream”. I think this was a theme song of a movie.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It tells us that love always have flaws. If we love each other deeply, then there will be a time that we are forced to be separated and there is no way to escape this destiny. After we separated, we might meet again, as burred as a dream. If we can choose, perhaps we wish that the time can be frozen and give us some time to think through this. We had tried to be together, but it is so difficult to not get separated. Even until now, we still don’t know whether our story is sweet or bitter. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “澤田研二” by George Lam. I never heard of this song before today. I was searching in iTunes and I bump into this song. What catches my eyes is the name of the song. The direct English translation of the title is “Kenji Sawada”. The name of the song is actually a name of a Japanese singer. At first I thought the song name was accidently switched with the artist name, but when I saw it was George Lam, I realised that the name must be correct. The funny thing about this song is that, this is a Chinese cover of Kenji Sawada’s “Itsumi”.

The lyrics of the song are quite out of the ordinary. The lyrics are about the feeling of the protagonist when he listens to Kenji Sawada’s songs. It starts off saying that Kenji is like water, and his voice touched the protagonist. He feels warm and connected. Kenji is like fire and warms him up. Kenji voice is so catching that it is hard to resist. Kenji Sawada, it feels like you had caught my soul. The emotion from your song is very straight forward that he doesn’t need to guess. So Kenji Sawada, please keep singing and lighten my life.

In the middle of the song, George added a monologue. He said that in 1981, it was the first time he heard Kenji Sawada singing. That night he heard many Kenji’s songs. Although he didn’t understand all of the songs, but Kenji’s voice is imprinted in his head.

The song that I chose for today is “最愛是誰” by George Lam. This is a theme song from a movie. The direct English translation of the title is “Who I love most”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist trying to work out who is the person he love the most. He said that he was searching for his partner; he found her and wishes to be together forever. But time past by and now he regrets. He left his wife because he believes he found the girl that he love. Now his heart is no longer with her but he dreamed about his ex-wife. He wonder why he wanted to follow the one that he said good bye to but the one that he can spent his life with doesn’t bring him any excitement. He wanted to know how he could keep going and who is actually the person that he loves. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “丫烏婆” by George Lam. This is a very old song. Personally I like the melody of the song, it makes the song quite relaxing. The title in English is “Ugly woman”. Note that this song is the official Chinese cover version of Jimmy Soul’s “If you wanna be happy”, the lyrics of the two songs are pretty much the same.

The lyrics of the song are quite stand out. They basically talked about that man should married ugly woman. The song start off saying that if mans want to be living happily, then they should marry ugly lady, so we should try to avoid good looking lady in our life. It said, good looking girls tend to be selfish, they tend show up late and treat you like rubbish. But contrast, ugly woman will be crazy for you, they would never treat you bad and they will take care of your daily life.
