27th Feb 2016 (山林道 – Kay Tse)

The song for today is “山林道” by Kay Tse. This is her latest song. The direct English translation of the title is “Hillwood road”. It is the name of a road in Hong Kong.

The lyrics of the song are about life. It said: “Yesterday I had some passion, wishing to break free, so I decide to explore. Cutting down the tree and chop the mountains two times. From no road, the moving inch by inch. Wanting to make the words become true. So along the way, my life is meaningful. Today, I am contributing to the world, but I worry that the turning point lack inspiration. Dreamed that one day this place will turn from tree to road. When I woke up, the road is already here. Forest don’t block me. I the past, I was passionate and rush, and never looked at the map. I only wish that one day this place will turn back to tree and the road disappeared. Careless, just rush to fix it when you are still young. Used the good branches to exchange for the good future, all negative. Not early, but at least I know. I lived, because I loved, but I couldn’t know everything. Yesterday I raced with youth, too busy and missed things that will never come back. Eat, play and sleep, the most loved on my side, everything outside my schedule are obstacles. This fascinating world, used my life to grow. But I forgot about that forest. Back then I said that one day this place will turn from tree to road. Don’t wait to hug them when all the tresses are dead. That fresh youth and altitude, if haven’t been forgotten, then pick back up the draft, go back and do what was planned. At the beginning when I started, I wish that one day this place will turn from tree to road. When I woke up, the road is already here. Human and physics, walked straight pass. If what’s left behind haven’t been cleaned, could them be cleaned now? Never thought that all trapped situation will stabilised and turned to road. Sacrificed those that were a treasure to us, never thought that would have happened. Then gained the award, but then wanted to go back to change it. It is not early, don’t wait, it aged. Asked me about my original goal, I wouldn’t hide.” Hope you will like the song.

22nd Jul 2015 (羅生門 – Juno Mak and Kay Tse)

I had been busy yesterday so I didn’t manage to write a post yesterday. For today the song I chose is “羅生門” by Juno Mak and Kay Tse. This is Juno’s newest song and it is the last episode of the trilogy, it continue from the story set up by “耿耿於懷” (a song that is more than 10 years old) and “念念不忘” (which was released earlier this year). Differ to the two previous parts, which were looking at the relationship from the perspective of male, “羅生門” look at the current state of the relationship from the perspective of female, telling us how she view this relationship. The title is of the song is “Rashomon”, which is the title of a famous Japanese movie in the 50’s. While I haven’t watched “羅生門”, I have heard of this phase many times. Ever since the movie, the title of the move become a common Chinese phase, which it described a scenario where there are two version of a story, both contradict each other but both make sense, and we don’t know which one is the truth. This phase got this meaning because the movie basically was a scenario like this.

From the title, I guess it already hinted that the version from the female protagonist is completely different to what had been described in the two previous songs. Since this is a duet, I will represent Juno’s lines with “J:”, Kay’s with “K:” and together “T:”. J: If you still haven’t found this ridiculous, holding the hand of the man who rumours to be crazy. K: Very thankful, you loved me for ten years and still haven’t stopped. Recently, our old classmate told me that I was still in your heart for more than 600 weeks. Sadly, we couldn’t be together for life. But if I told you the truth, then perhaps you will get hurt. I loved hello kitty? I think not. Dickens, is that a comic? Or is this a misunderstanding of a girl? Perhaps you were crazy about me so I have become perfect in your eyes, but really, do you really know me? Those touching moment, it doesn’t always need to be revisited. If it could provide warm to help you get over the coldest days, then keep it in that room. The most touching moment, not necessary need to last. It is hard to forget, all because you keep thinking about it. It is easy to hold onto someone for ten years, but hard to let go. Truthfully, I don’t think it was a waste that we had that relationship. If I meet you on the street I would ask about how you have been. But the facebook that you update every day is pointless to follow. If you want to feel good after breakup, first you shouldn’t keep thinking of the past. Look at a better place and absorb the sunlight for the next relationship. Those touching moment, it doesn’t always need to be revisited. If it could provide warm to help you get over the coldest days, then keep it in that room. The most touching moment, not necessary need to last. It is hard to forget, all because you keep thinking about it. It is easy to cry for ten years, but hard to rub it dry. J: Still sigh for that relationship didn’t reach its climax and had already been buried. K: Worry that missing this relationship will be too crazy. J: Making a curse between the two hearts that could never be resolved. T: Every asked about the method to make a relationship to stay forever young. J: But breaking it with pain. K: Would holding onto the broken image. T: can make it last forever. You haven’t forgotten, I haven’t forgotten. J: Better than being next to me. K: love letter had turned yellow. J: Not comfortable, so please come and have a look at day and night. Didn’t received the signal, so keep checking every 2 seconds. You once said to keep in touch. The number for the past, means the old place, not dare to removed and rebuilt. K: Those touching moment, it doesn’t always need to be revisited. If it could provide warm to help you get over the coldest days, then keep it in that room. J: Like an incurable disease, every day I felt that happiness is about to arrive. K: The most touching moment, not necessary need to last. That hard to get rid of shadow, even if it visits every night, really it had long been buried. J: Love if you still haven’t forget, we had promised someone that we will continue. K: Don’t be crazy. J: Next January. Wish that we could meet up as promised somewhere in Iceland. K: Let our past be buried somewhere in Fukushima.

Hope you will like the song. There is also a spinoff of the story, where it talks about that promised trip to Iceland. I will cover that song as well in the near future.

30th Apr 2015 (私隱線 – Kay Tse)

The song for today is “私隱線” by Kay Tse. This song was very popular back in the year when it was released. The direct English translation of the title is “Privacy line”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist felt that she is over floated by private information that she had no interest in. It said, Passenger in the train, are sitting opposite to each other. Some of them are sleeping, some tried to find some way to get themselves entertained. But always there are a group that talks on the phone. Three to four of them, sited around, using their phone to talk to their best friend, ignoring everyone to talk loudly. How the share market fluctuated; how annoying are the relatives; the story of how Tim Fuk Cheung and Siu Bing Chu got together. A lot of information, and couldn’t not listen to it even she doesn’t want to. A anger fire is about to lit in her heart. How much money does his uncle got; his cousin is studying commerce. In this crowed cabin, privacy is being spread. No need to explain so much as she doesn’t want to know, she just wanted to listen to her music. She is now staring at him, but he ignores her as if he is in a twenty thousand square feet empty room, comfortable and happily talking. Even world issues doesn’t need to be spread here, so these tiny issues that doesn’t got to do with anything should only be talk about at home, could he? How low class he was born as, how much he wanted a kid, how Tim Fuk Cheung and Siu Bing Chu broke up. A lot of information, and couldn’t not listen to it even she doesn’t want to. The conferences call in the cabin, even if it was so dramatic, could they move away a bit to give her some room? No need to explain so much as she doesn’t want to know, she just wanted to listen to her music. Hope you will like the song.

28th Mar 2015 (藝妓回憶錄 – Kay Tse)

The song for today is “藝妓回憶錄” by Kay Tse. I don’t particular like this song, but it is a song that show Kay’s singing skill. This type of song was very Kay’s style, many of her older songs were performed with a ultra-high pitch, to some degree that I start to think it is humanly impossible :p but that’s partly what I like about Kay’s songs, high pitch but very comfortable. The direct English translation of the title is “Memoirs of a Geisha” but I think this song is not directly related to the movie.

The lyrics of the song are about geisha. It said: “Heavy makeup, beautiful clothes, perfect body. Singing skill that penetrates to the heart, lightly dance, leaking out beauty. The attack of the eyebrow, it could destroy the strong stone and burden. The wave like hand movement, small movement and is enough to drown the customer. Acted for a long time, still beautiful, but started to step down. Time flies, no longer being popular, and the world started to accuse it. Dislike because of the lack of applause, dislike because of the lack of interesting topic. Boring ceremony, so slow that you wanted to wash away the enjoyment. A skill that you spent half your life practicing, at the end it is of no value and moved away from the public. Songs and dance need to be popular, but doesn’t need to be to away from the people, then it could suit the taste of the public. Detailed, but not elegant. Dislike because of the lack of applause, dislike because of the lack of interesting topic. Boring ceremony, so slow that you wanted to wash away the enjoyment. A skill that you spent half your life practicing, at the end it is of no value and moved away from the public. Songs and dance need to be popular, but doesn’t need to be to away from the people, art need to lower itself. detailed, but not elegant. No longer in love with classic beauty. Too hard to understand the meaning and it lose the connection to the modern world. Songs and dances need to quickly touch your emotion in order to entertain everyone. Got the old skills, but sadly living in the modern world.” Hope you will like the song.

12th Nov 2014 (我最喜愛的歌 – Kay Tse)

The song for today is “我最喜愛的歌” by Kay Tse. This song was from 2009, it wasn’t the plug song from the album so I don’t think many people heard it before. The direct English translation of the title is “The song that I love the most”.

The lyrics of the song are about what he protagonist thinks the best song should be. She said, dance music with heavy beat, enjoyed it, but afterward you would calm down. The memories that left behind will be able to fight off that all of a sudden pride. The song that she sings, all she wanted is you to listen with heart. The tenderness in the song, others probably couldn’t feel it. The song that she likes the most was never popular. It didn’t win any award, only he understands it the most. Singing the song that he loves the most, wishing that he would think of her, this brings her emotion up and down. In the melody, she sees scenery passed by. Playing it again in 10 year time and she will still remember it. Like concerto, let’s share the rest of our life together. Words have sounds, it recorded your feelings. Time is like a song, so sad that even the award winning song sells emotions. Don’t need pride, only hope that you could feel it. The song that she likes the most was never popular. It didn’t win any award, only he understands it the most. Singing the song that he loves the most, wishing that he would think of her, this brings her emotion up and down. In the melody, she sees scenery passed by. All she hopes for is that it will accompanying you to travel through time. This is the song that the two of them liked the most and it will play throughout their life. Imagined that a singer, got popular, but soon after no longer popular. What’s left when time past? The song that she loves the most, there is only one that would understand on this earth. Hope you will enjoy the song.

29th Oct 2014 (滄海遺珠 – Kay Tse and Wilfred Lau)

The song for today is “滄海遺珠” by Kay Tse and Wilfred Lau. This song is a reader request. The title is a bit hard to translate as it is a Chinese four worded phrase, meaning something valuable have been unnoticed in a sea of other common things. Directly through the words, it means “a forgotten peal in the sea”. The English translation from google translate, “talent left unrecognized”, seems to describe it quite ok, though it doesn’t necessary need to be talent.

The lyrics of the song are about love. Since it is a duet, Wilfred’s part would be represent by “W:”, Kay’s by “K:” and when they sing together “T:”. W: Everyone loves gems and wealth, so they don’t really understand your beauty. K: I am the only one, that saw you and closed my heart, just like the legend of a closed shell. If everyone in the world oversight and never got to fully understand you. W: Let those stupid, normal people look down at you. T: Don’t let those people affect your believes. K: Just like a peal buried deep in the sea. K: Deep in the sea. K: So that no one understands your goods. W: Only I would be able to understand God’s idea. T: Found this shining peal in a pile of sand. W: others framed you as a normal, boring kid. K: Like a kid. W: But your thoughts, I don’t believe T: that they are meaningless. K: No one understand how to admire it, T: but God knows that everyone can. W: Perhaps this abnormal beauty K: Not many people know how to admire it. W: So that is why you have been so polite, to a point that you are too humble. K: Never hoped for love. If everyone in the world oversight and never got to fully understand you. W: Let those stupid, normal people forget about you. T: If others don’t like you, I will be waiting for you on this side. K: Who are you? Who are you? W: Do you have a place to shine? T: Others are too busy admiring their looks. W: So didn’t have time to care about your self-cultivation. T: Only I will stay behind and clap for you. W: Perhaps no one care about you. K: But T: I will. Hope you will like the song.

1st July 2014 (雞蛋與羔羊 – Kay Tse)

Hi everyone, I am finally back home, so now this blog will finally go back to normal. I sort of promise to write a post in the last few days, but a few unexpected things happened and so I had to sort them out and got no time to write a post. So I will write two post today, one for yesterday (this one) and one for today.

For yesterday, I chose the song “雞蛋與羔羊” by Kay Tse. This is a new song. The direct English translation of the title is “Egg and lamb”. According to the writer, the song was inspired by the movie “12 Years a Slave”. I chose this song because it somewhat express the feeling of Hong Kong people right now and yesterday (1st July) was the day when Hong Kong returned to China, so it got a historical meaning. In recent years this day has become an important day for Hong Kong people to express their opinions to the government. I wasn’t able to go there to show my support so I will show my support here on the internet to let more people know about the current status of Hong Kong, and hence why I have chosen this song for yesterday.

The lyrics of the song are about freedom. It said the smell of the flower in the sleeping room; the looks of my wife; every good memory came up in his mind in his dream. The window of his cell; the sounds of the chain; told him that he will never return to his past. After being drunk, he still believe that his life will go back to normal, but he would never thought he had been tricked; became a slave, bad things will happened, so bad that he couldn’t imagined. Meal A, egg crashing into the wall. It would end heroically, and will not give in. Meal B, chose to become a lamb. Stay in the ranch for the rest of his life. How to choose become these options? We have already got to the time where we have to choose, keep dragging on and we will die. Pretend to be sleeping, and we will be waiting for others to pay tribute to us in our dream. The alarm is raining, and it sounds tenses. Everywhere around us is quickly changing, getting rid of the old colour and style. Knives and guns are holding up high so arrogantly, wanting all the old value to become trash. Being so peaceful for a long time make us think that peaceful and happiness will last forever. Who would have thought that the things that we have got yesterday would disappeared instantly; just like tones of snow fallen onto our head.  Meal A, egg crashing into the wall. It would end heroically, and will not give in. Meal B, chose to become a lamb. Stay in the ranch for the rest of his life. How to choose become these options? We have already got to the time where we have to choose, keep dragging on and we will die. Forget about dreaming. An egg hitting a wall, it will definitely break, so how could it challenge? But if a pile of egg look at the wall, it could become a force field and it will grow. Today, the egg chose to hit the wall and not worry to die heroically, and it will not give in. Otherwise, become a lamb and stay in the ranch for the rest of your life. Which one is more ideal, you better think fast. We have already got to the time where we have to choose, keep dragging on and we will die. Pretend to be sleeping, and we will be waiting for others to pay tribute to us in our dream. If we could dream, beautiful. Hope you will love this song as much as I do.

21st Jan 2014 (第一天 – Kay Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “第一天” by Kay Tse. The direct English translation of the title is “First day”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said “the sun just raised and it felt warm and kind. Winds blow to her face and mixed with the smell of flower. All the beautiful thing happened because of you. The little dog will get excited and swing it tail because it saw you. A lot of people will do funny things just like they wanted to laugh for a whole day. All the cute things were just waiting for you, so that you can experience it. Soon I will see you, thinking about it makes me felt love. This day, I can finally kiss you on your cheek and hug you when I sleep. Even if one day there is a thunder storm, like it will break the sky into half; you can relax and there is no need to cover your face because I will be next to you. Weird things will always happen, but don’t worry because I will always be there, even to hold you the sky. Soon I will see you, thinking about it makes me felt love. This day, I can finally kiss you on your cheek and hug you when I sleep. Wish I will seat on a rocket, fly through all the uncertainties and fly straight to that day. I will push into the line to meet you just to say hi. Please let me see you soon, thinking about it makes me felt love. This day, I can finally kiss you on your cheek and hug you when I sleep. Close my eyes and looking forward to that day, I will be on the rainbow giving you our first happy day.” Hope you will like the song.

1st Jan 2013 (替你高興 – Kay Tse)

Happy New Year!!! Wish you all will have a great 2014!! Today I chose the song “替你高興” by Kay Tse. The direct English translation of the title is “Happy for you”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist is trying to think positive for her friend who had just passed away. Although it doesn’t quite match with today, but it mention that passing away is not all that bad, as her friend now on longer need to suffer and will live happily in the holy land. I hope that our 2014 will be like the holy land that the song describes: no fighting, no bitter, but only forgiveness and happiness. The song begins with the protagonist said to her friend to lay down, and start her journey, try not to think about this place too much. The sickness that he had before made him sad and weak. She is willing to  carry him for his last journey and carry his worries and help him to calm down. He can finally step over his worries and step into haven to pick up his happiness again. In the holy land, no one would need to do the hard work, there are no failures and nothing is wrong. There is only forgiveness, no fighting and no bitterness. There is no speed, he can slowly fall into sleep. The land that we live in just love to fight, we built our own fortress. We fight for victory blindly. Today he finished his duty, paid all our debts, so she is glad that he could finally move on. Say goodbye to worries, there are no need to cry. Now stepping into haven, moving to your new home. . In the holy land, no one would need to do the hard work, there are no failures and nothing is wrong. There is only forgiveness, no fighting and no best of the world. There is no speed, he can slowly fall into sleep. Every night, she feels sad when she think about he had passed away, but she also feels happy to think that he reached haven. In this land, no one would need to do the hard work, there are no failures and nothing is wrong. There is only forgiveness, no fighting and no bitterness. There is no speed, he can slowly fall into sleep, getting drunk happily. Hope you will like the song.

21st Dec 2013 (年度之歌 – Kay Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “年度之歌” by Kay Tse. The direct English translation of the title is “Song of the year”.

The lyrics of the song are about letting go something that we think is important. It said that we once reached the top of the ladder, we had once hugged our important someone; everything that we see as important could be destroyed in a second. It was beautiful, but now it is gone, so please let us know that we can let go of anything. It was beautiful, we once had it, now we lost it, and this is a wise experience. How many song in each year could be played on a daily bases and gave you the best way to burn time. That touching song was popular, but it could disappear after a very short time. Who was like that song in your heart, and you have probably forget already. The protagonist saw him leave, and she was glad that he once loves her. She said that he doesn’t own her anything. She felt that she once own a spring, and she had once fallen to the lowest in her life. Life is like a roller-coaster, there are ups and downs, and we shouldn’t lose our spirit. Who was like that song in your heart, and you have probably forget already. The protagonist saw him leave, and she was glad that he once makes her shine. There is always a downhill after reaching the top. A drawer full of memories and the brightness in the time machine; our life is as colourful as flowers, there is a time limit but it will always shine at least once. Thinking about yesterday, the drama hall was so deep, but there were a few scenes that we could act very well. The protagonist wish that she could understand the beauty of stepping down the stage, bowing and then step back, at least this way people will salute to her.  Who would be so crazy to think that a song would last forever and never betray anybody? Hope you will like the song.

11th Dec 2013 (最後晚餐 – Kay Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “最後晚餐” by Kay Tse. The direct English translation of the title is “Last supper”. This song was a theme song for a mini TV series.

The lyrics of the song are about the relationship between housemate. It said fire drama versus ice cold water, but released steam. Orange and green, very sharp, but the mismatch created beauty. In the house, it contains all different styles and created interesting chemical reaction. But sadly, they need to go their separate way. So this is their last supper, so all their moments have reached an end. People like to think of their past when they have to be separate and wishes that they could freeze time. But sadly, the world change quickly and everything got took away by time. After discussion, they understand what they wanted, they understand each other more in danger. After disasters they understand sharing and got comfort after compromised.  To build up the relationship we uses a lot of time, under the evolution theory does this still works? Today they need to go their own way and this is their last supper. All their moments have reached an end. People like to think of their past when they have to be separate and wishes that they could freeze time. But sadly, the world change quickly and everything got took away by time. Building pushes us forward and there is no going back. Demolishing destroy the connection of our relationship. We can’t avoid going our separate ways, and it will end with last supper. All their moments have reached an end. People like to think of their past when they have to be separate and wishes that they could freeze time. But sadly, the world change quickly and everything got took away by time. New buildings are formed, creating a new icon in the old suburb. They spent a lot of money on the inside and outside, but they will never find you and me. Hope you will like the song.

24th Jul 2013 (你們的幸福 – Kay Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “你們的幸福” by Kay Tse. The direct English translation of the title is “Your happiness”.

The lyrics of the song are about life. The lyrics are very complex, and I don’t fully understand it myself, but I will try my best to translate it. The song starts by saying that the protagonist might have fallen in love before she can meet the person that she wanted to fallen in love with. Perhaps there is no right or wrong, but she will found her fun. It hasn’t been long, and they are already a good pair, ready to prepare for the next stage of life.  How many bad things in our world have been exposed by the media, but if it is too difficult to understand then perhaps there is no need for us to know about it. Waking up with worries is one of the worse things and you said you have never experienced it. You seem to have forgotten about patience and simply eating and drinking seems to have easily fulfilled your happiness. Holding our hands to watch TV drama and cry seems to have easily transferred your hatred to entertainment.  Perhaps thinking will make us unhappy. If the sand that got into your eyes is not too hard, then perhaps there is no need to aware of it. You, what kind of feeling will make you cry, what’s missing to make you feel that you want more. Using up every second and feel that being busy is a new kind of happiness. Perhaps you are just relaying on these to make you feel less lonely and to resist to changes. Getting so used to your current stages that you forgot your emotions, hypnotised yourself to a stage that you lost yourself. Hope you will like the song.

16th Jun 2013 (囍帖街 – Kay Tse)

The song that I chose for today is “囍帖街” by Kay Tse. This is one of my favourite songs. The name of the song in English is “Wedding Invitation Street”. It is a nickname of “Lee Tung Street” in Hong Kong. This street doesn’t exist anymore as the area is under redevelopment. The street got that nickname because it was a street full of printing shops and many of these shops were known for printing wedding invitations.

The lyrics of the song are about the changes that can be brought by redevelopment. The lyrics starts by telling us to forget about the plant that we plotted, restart from the beginning and let go of our dreams.  Let forget about the dusty wedding invitation as you are moving houses. You should have expected that whatever we build would one day be destroy. Perhaps it isn’t too bad too feel unstable. Just like this district, it was once call the best. But in an instant, all the houses can be full of crows. Good days wouldn’t be with us every day, and ladder is not just for climbing up. There is no eternal love? Then perhaps we shouldn’t be afraid. Forget the person that you have once loved, the once that you once married, the wall that you hang your wedding photo and all the good old memories as they will all fall down tomorrow. Forget your home, the little tea table, sofa, fridge and the two cup of tea. The peaceful time is only on lease? And it is time to return it? Can’t wait until the next generation, right? Forget the sand that you used to play with. When you are thinking about the sand castle, it is already gone.  Looking at this empty land, your destiny is to learn of letting go. The bricks would not resist wear and the window could not capture sunset. Having a feeling for this means that it would last for your life? What good does it do to feel sad about this? So forget about you home and the furniture. The peaceful time is on lease and it is time to return? The last will come eventually, don’t worry. So please let go of your keys, please.

I found this song very touching. It is not just about redevelopment, but also about the love that we build up for our home and our community. Destroying a district will also destroy our memories, our feelings, our tradition, our living style and our friendship. Although we might be moving to a newer, better looking place, but it hardly can replace our feeling toward the place that we once called home. Hope you will like the song.
