11th Dec 2016 (大城小事 – Leon Lai)

The song for today is “大城小事” by Leon Lai. This song share the same melody as Miriam Yeung’s “小城大事”. The lyrics of the two song corresponds to each other. In the linked video, Leon explained why there are two versions. Apparently, Miriam’s manager heard the song (back then it was just a movie music) and wanted it to be turned into a song for Miriam. The movie was Leon’s investment, and they gave the manager a favour as they are good friends. So, Miriam’s song, as predicted by her manager, become a big hit. Anyway, back to Leon’s version of the song. The direct English translation of the title is “Big city, little event”.

The lyrics of the song basically talks of the same story as Miriam’s song but from the man’s perspective. Many parts of the lyrics are the same. He said: “Couldn’t remember why we began, or even why I have said the three word “I love you”. Perhaps because I got amnesia, so I couldn’t remember what I did. I don’t want to wait until my amnesia got worse, I wish that I could remember the lucky feeling that I had when I was kissed by you. Don’t worry about the past, as good bye was so close. A life without memories; forgot the lover from the past. Then fate had me to fallen in love with another person. A man without memories, wish that you will not pity him, and never ask of the past. Kisses, and give it all out. This kisses goodbye is like water that we throughout (this is a Chinese saying, water that got throughout could no longer return back to the bucket. It is used to describe something that could never return to its original state). Perhaps the next time we meet is when we are in haven. Turning back again, will be sadder. If we were never a good match, why my eyes felt like as if tears are dropping out. Felt like that a feeling stopped forever, perhaps you or me had done too many wrong in our past life. If we could start again, I will knee down at the church and say I do. The figures at entertainment clubs, still busy. You are counting the life of the sweet words. The man made stupid satellite couldn’t detect that we meet again but could no longer recognised each other.  Kisses, and give it all out. This kisses goodbye is like water that we throughout. Perhaps the next time we meet is when we are in haven. You come down and I go out, meeting again will make us feel guilty. I still remember that we will meet again in haven. Kisses, and give it all out. We were such a good match in the past. Why my eyes felt like tears are dripping. Every year I will remember to cry again on this day.” Hope you will like the song.

21st Mar 2016 (勇 – Miriam Yeung)

The song for today is “勇” by Miriam Yeung. This is a reader request. The direct English translation of the title is “Brave”.

The lyrics of the song are about a girl who is willing to do anything for her love one. She said: “It is not like I scare of nothing. It is not like I am not scare of death. But before the romantic kiss, no matter now rough it is, for you I will treat them all as a flat land. Loving you doesn’t need to make sense. I just wish to use my instant to hold onto you. When I thought of you, the strength that I never got suddenly injected into my soft arms. People around never agreed, and moral wouldn’t accept this. Giving it everything, to a point that I couldn’t feel pain even when I am hurt. Just like crazily chasing after a dream, no matter how other pushes forward, they are still nowhere near how brave I am for you. No matter how red the red light on the road gets, no one would be able to block me. Even if a million horses and a thousand army is in front I will still push. I am not tender, but I am a bit brave. I also wanted to be loved, but I am willing to act as the hero to protect you. Even when you don’t give me a badge, I am still willing to keep going, smile for you to block off the danger. Falling then getting back up, just like a tumbler. Even though it is clear that I will be empty handed, but I will still give it my 100%. No more support, but I am still a bit brave. Those that wanted to be love, they all love bravely.” Hope you will like the song.

7th Jan 2016 (友誼萬歲 – Miriam Yeung)

The song for today is “友誼萬歲” by Miriam Yeung. One of the reader request a song from the movie “五個小孩的校長” (Little Big Master), so I am guessing this is the song being requested. I haven’t watched the movie myself, by I have heard that it is a very good movie and the story is very touching. The English translation of the title is “Friendship forever”.

The lyrics of the song are about friendship. It said: “The sound of friend goodbye. The happiness in the past, will be remembered in the future. Remembered the relationship, the happiness and sadness in the school yard. Don’t be anger about departure and sadness. Keep it in our heart and trach it again in the future. All the cheers and sighs will be imprinted in our heart and will forever be remembered. Best wishes. Wish that the good wind will always blow for you. This moment we will hold our hand out for a joyful handshake. The cheerful singing will surround the school. Don’t care about what will happen in the future, we will chase our future path and move forward. Today we will let go of our hands. When we shake hand again, where will we be?” Hope you will enjoy the song.

13th Nov 2015 (向左走向右走 – Miriam Yeung)

The song for today is “向左走向右走” by Miriam Yeung. There are actually 3 versions of the song, this is the middle one. At the beginning of each version Miriam talks about a story and so listening to all three version will tell you the complete story. The direct English translation of the title is “Run to left run to right”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The story describe the protagonist understanding of love. The lyrics said: “If your girlfriend gave you up, then I will open a bottle of champagne to celebrate. If you already know that I love you, will you avoid me to try to avoid the hassle? If I on purposely want to break up you two, but love already make me hard to breath. I was only jealous, jealously uncontrollably. Whoever married you, I will get angry. It was all because I was with you after her. So it is hard for me not to have my head down. If I can face you, then perhaps I would already be your new girlfriend. Perhaps I might find that you don’t love me enough. Perhaps I will worry that you will slowly become more flighty. I can never see through the ending. If I fall in love with you, it would be hard to avoid that I will become the next ex-girlfriend. If I kissed you that day, perhaps it would have been fake happiness. If I could have made up my mind to give you up, would we walk further apart but I got more intrigued by you? If I said that I will love you forever, but love already make me hard to breath. I was only jealous, can only be jealous. I wish I could marry you tomorrow, but I am too spineless. Stay for one step, whoever you are. If I break you up, could I confess? But I know that you know who was there to intervene your decision. A step forward, have a hug, then would I become the one that get blame? If I got my own decision, would you respect me? It was all because I was with you after her. So it is hard for me not to have my head down. If I can face you, then perhaps I would already be your new girlfriend. Perhaps I might find that you don’t love me enough. Perhaps I will worry that you will slowly become more flighty. I can never see through the ending. If I fall in love with you, I worry that I will slowly pity your ex-girlfriends. Should I go left or right?” Hope you will like the song.

6th Jan 2015 (再見二丁目 – Miriam Yeung)

The song for today is “再見二丁目” by Miriam Yeung. This is one of the songs that I really like by Miriam. The title is a bit hard to translate as it somewhat involve Japanese. “丁目” are words that uses in Japanese address, it somewhat means section. So “再見二丁目” could be translated as “Goodbye second section”.

The lyrics of the song are about searching for happiness. The protagonist seems to be getting by her day to day life, noticing the minor things that she usually might not noticed and got surprised that she enjoyed them. It said, the street is full of people, but it suddenly got quite. The sky is full of cypress, but they suddenly stop moving. This moment all she needed is a can of hot tea (this somewhat give the sense of Japan as it is very common in Japan to find vending machine that sell cans of hot drinks). It really doesn’t matter how it taste. In the record store, it was playing songs from another country. That happiness, is something that she suddenly needs. It doesn’t feel close, but at least it doesn’t feel as subtle as thinking about him. Love and tone, it turns to depression as she keeps thinking. So she had been getting by happily, but only that she didn’t realise about it. If she could forget about her desire, then time will last longer and cloths will be lighter (I guess it mean less burden and less pressured). No matter where she is, she will not pretend that he is around; then she is able to travel happily overseas and eat happily. Turn around the corner, she felt like she had just skied over a wave. Listen to her surrounding, but she can still hear her heart beat. About him, she couldn’t dream of it, and she tried to avoid it. Love and desire, leave it for the next incarnation to burn it up. So she is not unhappy, but only that she didn’t realise about it. If she could forget about her desire, then time will last longer and cloths will be lighter. No matter where she is, she will not pretend that he is around; then she is able to travel happily overseas and eat happily. She can travel overseas happily and search for another things that she can rely on. Hope you will like the song.

2nd Sep 2014 (飛女正傳 – Miriam Yeung)

The song for today is “飛女正傳” by Miriam Yeung. This song is a reader request, it was very popular when it first released. The direct English translation of the title is “Female hooligan story”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said “Stepping over the life threating moment, we meet again on our bikes on a narrow road. Perhaps the wound near your mouth and my hair are both bright purple red. I don’t care about the rest of the life, all I wanted is the next moment. If I am not dare to kiss you then you will disappear. While we are unsure, someone yelled not to move. I am not worry to lean near your neck, running through bullets to fleet with you. But I am also worry that getting married and giving birth is so normal and dull that it is also hard to withstand. If eating dinner with someone that I don’t love, I wouldn’t know which story is sadder. All I hoped is to be able to spend the night with you. The world is surrounding us, but both of us swear that we will be together regardless. So magnificent that it is like a wedding on the cliff side. Perhaps we have no purpose in our life, but at least there would be still some true love that we will leave behind. I have already neglect our safety, swear that we will be together and look down at this busy city. Even if god not bear to see us as dirty trash, I would hug you regardless. Let not care about what we got to eat, or the blessing from pastor or whether we need that type of luck. Just let me filled with car racing, and be the type that just holds onto our painful love story. Facing the city full of light, I am dare to say that our love is so frightening; that way I wouldn’t own you for giving me the exciting moments. The world is surrounding us, but both of us swear that we will be together regardless. So magnificent that it is like a wedding on the cliff side. Perhaps we have no purpose in our life, but at least we will have someone that can travel through hell. I have already neglect our safety, swear that we will be together. I will love you, but why are you still worry about the public? Perhaps the day when I was born, they thought that someone will treat me like a doll, but at the end I just fall in love with an ant. It is hard to love ourselves but we still learn how to love other, and I managed to found someone that can share my life, then it isn’t so bad.” Hope you will like the song.

8th Apr 2014 (小星星 – Miriam Yeung)

The song that I chose for today is “小星星” by Miriam Yeung. I quite like this song. From memory it was a song from 2004. The direct English translation of the title is “Little stars”.

The lyrics of the song are about growing up. The protagonist said that when she was around 7, she wanted to drink her mum’s coke. She toke it and hold it in her hands and the grown up can’t make her sleep. Him and another girl got drunk today, and she didn’t just want to get their coke. She will keep fighting even if she will lose all her self-esteem. There is so much pressure that she even lost her desire. Twinkle twinkle little stars, sing the song happily. But why when she have graduated, she realised that she will need to go through tests for the rest of her life. No one, even her lover needed to treat her well as she will treasure all kinds of feeling. Everyone knows that if happiness come from sacrificing, then it wouldn’t feel right. That’s why even though she have done so much for him in hope that he will say thankyou to her, and yet she still didn’t feel happy. Who would want to own her for life? Kind person will be so naïve that being kind will not result in bad. She finally breakup with him. But at least she was quite happy when she was with him. From today onward, she thinks that being able to sleep well is the most important. And that she might not be dare to smile when she feel happy. Twinkle twinkle little stars, life is so simple. From start to end, sing it once, she is willing to lost her intelligent to carry on her life. Hope you will like the song.

The song for today is “別阻我開心” by Miriam Yeung. The direct English translation of the title is “Don’t stop me from being happy”.

The lyrics of the song are about how the protagonist tried to enjoy the time she got alone. She said that as she grow up, she understand what is love. She cares more about hunger. She rather be half full, and work happily. She wanted to clear her hear, so how could she relay on her lover. She look far to try to understand how to be a human. To understand herself she goes traveling, to escape from the problems that she got. Got an air ticket to travel away, there is no need to worry about her. Those that are worry about her please don’t try to stop her from finding happiness. She doesn’t want a cloud above her head. Even if someone wanted to accompany her, she rather travelled alone. She wanted to be responsible for herself, to use her time herself and to forget about all the unhappy things. Relatives, there are no need to try to be polite and ask about her as she will have a miracle journey.  Hope you will like the song.

26th Feb 2014 (少女的祈禱 – Miriam Yeung)

The song that I chose for today is “少女的祈禱” by Miriam Yeung. This is one of my favourites, I remember I bought the album because of this song. The direct English translation of the title is “The maiden’s prayer”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist is the maiden and it is her love story. She said that she meets him on a bus and she felt love at first sight. She said that she will not let go of him no matter how crowded the bus get. She prays that there wouldn’t be any troubles along the way to turn this happy journey to sad. They got pass two green light in a row, and so she can love him for a few more miles. When the light turn red, then she will have to leave. Let luck determine her ending. She pray that people could leave them alone, so that what she scare of will never happen. She never has anything good goes her way, then how could she pick back up her self-esteem. She pray that God could grand a kiss to her from him like how God forgive sinner. She love God and at the same time she love a human. So she prays that he wouldn’t change his heart, and pray for protection. Because of him, she learned how to pray, but why would God take care of these type of follower? She uses her hand to cover eyes when she prays, so that she wouldn’t see the answer. She prays that she can reach the future with him, even when the bus got destroy. No matter how hurt it get, she wishes that she could decide whether she wanted to keep loving or not. Because of him, she learned how to pray, but why would God take care of these type of follower? She loves him so much, but she thinks so negatively and she starts praying and begging to the green light. But God didn’t understand her kindness, when she opens her eyes there are no light to point her to the right direction. She love God, but why let her love one left her and got off the bus? How would you answer to that? Hope you will like the song.

5th Nov 2013 (熱血青年 – Miriam Yeung)

The song that I chose for today is “熱血青年” by Miriam Yeung. I used to listen to this song a lot, it was a nice change of Miriam to start more fast pace song. This song was also in my favourite Miriam’s album, there are many good songs in that album. The direct English translation of the title is “Hot blooded teenager”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins with the protagonist said that it is her fault not to think that her boyfriend would torture her. It is also her fault that she never served a Scorpio before. Perhaps it is also her fault that she is not evil enough, so that she is not sexy enough. She is so wrong that she didn’t make any big mistake. So wrong that she didn’t stay hungry for him; so wrong that to wear too much cloth. She just wanted to be in love without hurting herself. She swear that she needs to be happy and she wouldn’t hurt herself. If you wanted to test her, please wait, at most she will cross the road with you on a green light. Today she doesn’t have enough energy, so please don’t stab her with a sword and think that she could take it as she is a bot blooded teenager. She hope that he could stop torturing her and stop thinking that she is still willing to stay up at night for him. She regrets that she treats him too well. She regrets that she was too lazy for him and didn’t do everything that he wanted her to do. So she wishes that he has less hope on her and stop thinking that she is a hot blooded teenager. Hope you will like the song.

29th Sep 2013 (可惜我是水瓶座 – Miriam Yeung)

The song that I chose for today is “可惜我是水瓶座” by Miriam Yeung. This is one of my favourite by Miriam. The direct English translation of the title is “Unfortunately my star sign is Aquarius”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins with the protagonist just telling us that her ex-boyfriend is telling her that he treasure her, but she said she never feel it when they were together. She told him not tell her this standard lines, as these lines are not enough to keep them together. She said he should be very clear why they are breaking apart. No matter how stupid she is, she is still herself. She knows very well who is treating her good and who is treating her bad. She wanted to keep acting stupid, but she knows she can’t last any longer. She is somewhat jealous of those people who are blind by love. So she decided to leave, but please don’t make her cry even though being a Aquarius is easily cried. If the next line from his mouth is good bye, then she rather him to close his mouth. There is no need to see each other again, as it will hurt her even more. If she go back, there wouldn’t be any pain killer for her to use, so please give her a Long Island Ice tea such that she could fall into sleep. No matter it will be 10 years later or now, their love will end and she will be sad, so let cut it off now. She felt that she was the strongest castle, but this castle is actually breaking part by part. No matter how stubborn she is, she would not last, she know she can’t keep pretending to be happy all the time. So she decided to cut off her relationship now. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “大激想” by Eason Chan, Edmond Leung and Miriam Yeung. This is a classic from the three of them, it is a very old song, it came out at the time when Eason and Miriam just starting their singing career and now they are big stars. The direct English translation of the title is “Outrages thought”. If I remember correctly, this was a theme song for a Coca-Cola ad.

The lyrics of the song are about getting out of the box. The lyrics begin with telling us that we should think in all direction, no matter how ridiculous an idea sounds. Only exciting thought will bring you exciting reward. With our thought, we can break through any boundary. Hope you will like the song.

21st Jun 2013 (數你 – Miriam Yeung)

The song that I chose for today is “數你” by Miriam Yeung. I remember I used to listen to this song a lot. It is not an ear catching song, but I enjoy it melody, the calmness. The direct English translation of the title is “Count you”, what the title means is “to name all the bad things about you”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It starts with the protagonist thinking about all the things that she did for her boyfriend. She looked at their used movie ticket, and it reminded her about their good time. But now, she can’t see him nor touch him, so she think it is hard to judge how deeply she loves him. She wonders how far they were until they could be together forever. So she can only use his heart beat as an indicator, and wish that she could keep counting until she dies. She is constantly worried that they will breakup, so she tried to enjoy every second that they spent together. Hope you will like the song.
