The song for today is “只得一晚” by Edmond Leung. This song is a reader request. I actually haven’t listen to this song before, so can’t share much thought :p The direct English translation of the title is “Only got one night”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist meeting up with this girl that he had feeling towards. They both love each other, but it is too late as she is going to be married the next day. He said: “Don’t know how many circle we had gone around, but this night we meet. Sadly between us there is this extra person. You said that there are many reasons and that there were promises, so you couldn’t get away from him and that you couldn’t let go of your past. The song for today is “愛與情” by Edmond Leung. This is a reader request. The song was released in 1995, during the early stages of Edmond’s career. The direct English translation of the title is “Love and affection”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist who is in love with his best friend, wishing that she would realised it and accept him to be her boyfriend. It said, when he is talking to her he feels that they are not just friends. Perhaps she couldn’t feel it? No other close friend could be as tender as he is. Would they become partner all depends on time, but no matter what happened he will still accompanied her. Who said that a male and female wouldn’t be able to get this close without a kiss. The song for today is “斷了氣” by Edmond Leung. Personally I quite like this song when I was a kid as it was very different to other songs. The English translation of the title is “Stopped breathing”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It said: Turn off the light, fire the gun, then next… Tight up his hand, lit the fire, then next… Shut the mouth, close his eyes, the car go backward, then next… Following that, the protagonist is worry that there isn’t a ‘next’ as she is used to let him go all of a sudden. A well designed script, but at the climax it suddenly removed. Sudden pull away, it was her who ignited his curiosity and shown her attractiveness. Cannot be separated, facing her he felt that he can’t breathe, so tasty. Not scare of death, only worry about waiting, time. Not worry about fate, but only worry to give to the queen… Being raised to the sky, then let him fall back to earth. She opened up for him. So open that it felt like she is opened for everybody. Cared so much about the effect, but at the climax she pulled it all away. Sudden pull away, at a distance that they couldn’t get any closer, they did their final showdown. Cannot be separated, a weapon that is getting closer and closer, but not willing to avoid it, willing to die happily. Sudden pull away, it was her who ignited his curiosity and shown her attractiveness. Cannot be separated, facing her he felt that he can’t breathe, so tasty. How to calm down? The song that I chose for today is “羅曼蒂克” by Edmond Leung. This is a song from 2006. The direct English translation of the title is “Romantic”.

The lyrics of the song are about love, but it is a bit abstract. The protagonist said that love is use an atmosphere, and his love luck is not scared about atmosphere. With his lover, they are so into it that, they have already overcome language, and feel timeless. If you talk about atmosphere, then what is atmosphere? Something on your forehead? Or perhaps you could be like a couple during war time? There is no rain above our eye brows, but clouds underneath our heart to make things shaky. It is like there are winds coming, that could slow things down and bring us a happy feeling. At night there are light; there are feeling on our lips. A number of kisses, and no questions that it will born soon. A pair of friend, without regret, is slowly turning into a pair of couple. The unpredictable love, calmed our heart, perhaps this is just the atmosphere? When they are burning their youth, their red ears are so similar. No more energy to stop, so their love starts like this, all from their ears. If there is a limit in their youth, they could do everything, but just couldn’t report on time. The song that I chose for today is “找我” by Edmond Leung. The direct English translation of the title is “Search for me”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist trying to find himself. At the start the protagonist said that perhaps he had seen himself before, but he can’t remember when or where. He said only loneliness would recognise him and he is accompanied with silence. Day by day he is being torture by his thought. He just wanted to stay in the same place, and let others to search for him. He once buried his heart here, but the memories are too painful, so painful that it separated his body and soul. She once said that she love him, right? Now he is lost, but he doesn’t know where he is. So please hide caring thought as he doesn’t have the strength to receive it nor have the room to accept it. If he let his heart to go back to the land of love and do its act, he knows he will not be able to take it. So let just leave this as a legend and let it end. He searched for his own life story and he just wanted to let it die naturally. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “半邊生命” by Edmond Leung. This is a new song, it still haven’t come out on album yet. The direct English translation of the title is “Half of our life”.

The lyrics are about love. It start off with the protagonist telling us that him and her become couple was because they wanted to hug each other at the lowest temperature night in history. That night he knows that it was too cold and he can’t live by himself. If they lost each other, he knows that he will not be able to find her again. All these years they have been together. Every time, when he was tired, he can keep going as he knows that he could lost his world anytime. But when he is with her, they act as one, then nothing else seems to matter. When they hug, it is hard to separate them, they are fused together. When they hug, he felt that as if he emerged into her sigh, her shadow, her situation; just felt like he own half of her life. It was silence and beautiful, they don’t need to communicate but they understand each other. Every couple, when their love ends, they say good bye and hug each other like a friend. Every time he saw her carrying her suit case to cross custom, he got worried. These years, she had been with her. When he was out there alone he understand that he can keep going as he knows that he could lost everything in any second. But when they are together, they fused as one. Even when they are hurt, they wouldn’t need medicine to heal. How many times did we say we only love you for the rest of our life, perhaps it is better to just give her our hug. The warmest thing on Earth is our body, so we can share our happiness, sadness and hug each other. He swear that he will take care of her for the rest of his life, but it is not better than creating a home with her. When they hug, they fused as one. The song that I chose for today is “501” by Edmond Leung. This song was very popular, and it gives one of the peaks to Edmond’s career. “501” is a Levis jeans number, it is considered as one of their classic jean and I guess it is one of their best sellers as well.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins with the protagonist saying that his jean is very old and perhaps it is about to wear out. In the last few years it got a lot of wear and it is cover by sweat. When she was still with him, she likes to fix up his jean. But now, his jean is still fine, but she has already left him. He wonders what is lacking between the two of them. If one day she and someone else are wearing this jean, the jean will recognise him. Now he said he doesn’t need to follow what she wears anymore. So he hopes that if one day he bumps into her, she would not blame the jean for not wearing out. Perhaps the trend was short, but he still wears this jean to work every day. He said that she will not remember him as there are so many boys out there that are wearing this model of jean. But there is only one person that will have this wear out blue jean. The song that I chose for today is “大激想” by Eason Chan, Edmond Leung and Miriam Yeung. This is a classic from the three of them, it is a very old song, it came out at the time when Eason and Miriam just starting their singing career and now they are big stars. The direct English translation of the title is “Outrages thought”. If I remember correctly, this was a theme song for a Coca-Cola ad.

The lyrics of the song are about getting out of the box. The lyrics begin with telling us that we should think in all direction, no matter how ridiculous an idea sounds. The song that I chose for today is “祝你旅途愉快” by Edmond Leung. The direct English translation of the title is “Wish you will have a happy journey”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The lyrics start in spring. The protagonist got his girlfriend to say goodbye to him, and he told her that they will one day meet again. Now it is the summer, his ship sunk. He fights to survive as he is traveling by himself. He thought of his girlfriend, he wishes her luck and he still treasures her. But he feels that she wasn’t really in love with him, so he let her go, and wishes that they will see each other again in another summer. Now it is autumn, he had push through many difficulties. As he is traveling by himself, he must take care of himself. He thought of his girlfriend again. He felt that they were almost be able to be together. Again, he wishes her luck and treasure the time that they spent together. Now it is winter and this time it is the reverse. She come by and wishes him to have a happy journey. 5th May 2013 (一小時沖印 – Edmond Leung)

The song that I chose for today is “一小時沖印” by Edmond Leung. I really like this song when it first came out and I still do today. The direct English translation of the title is “1hr photo printing”.

The lyrics of the song are about a love story. The protagonist was looking at some photos, he saw a photo of a girl taken in a party and she seems to be very happy in the photo. He notice that she always stand next to a guy wearing a blue shirt. The next photo he saw was a side shoot of the guy and the one after was a shoot taken when the guy just wake up. He said that she have to be so in love with this guy, otherwise she wouldn’t be printing out all these photos that doesn’t have her in it. He said that so many of her memories were of the other people, why she doesn’t take a photo of herself to when she cry. There is a photo of a house, a photo of some mountain view; day by day, this girl drop off this negative at the protagonist photo shop and pick them up afterward. Slowly, the protagonist realised that she had been printed into his heart. The protagonist said that she must be very happy that she could be crazy about her boyfriend and there must be many more photos to print. Likewise, he asked himself whether he is really happy to love this girl even he will never meet her elsewhere apart from the print shop. He said he got lot of her memories, but it’s just that he can’t keep them. He will stay in this print shop to witness their wedding. Hope you will enjoy the song.

14th Mar 2013 (一再問究竟 – Edmond Leung)

The song that I chose for today is “一再問究竟” by Edmond Leung. Yesterday I talked of “不再問究竟” and mentioned that there is a continuation of the story by a song of Edmond to tribute Danny’s “不再問究竟” and here it is. This song came out in 2011, you can tell from the title that the two songs corresponds. The direct English title of the song is “Asking why again”. I highly recommend you to read my post on “不再問究竟” before reading the rest of this post as the two songs are related.

If you remember from “不再問究竟”, there was a guy and a kid. For this song, as time has gone by, the kid is now a grownup and became the protagonist of this song. At the beginning of the song, the protagonist has grown up and realised that night the guy was lying to him about not crying. He is now gazing at the star just like that guy, someone stepped on his shadow, but no one asked him why. He told us that he remembers that day when they meet, he always remembers about the red eyes of the guy that was crying. He is now sorry that he disturbed the guy when the guy was trying to forget about the bad memory by counting the stars. He has now mentally grown up, his naivety is gone with his youth. He wonders why nothing last forever, and how come no one could keep their promise of being together forever. He never thought that he would go through the same story as the guy that he meet in his childhood, now that he fully understood how it feels and why, he no longer need to ask why.

I quite like this song as it give a proper ending to Danny’s song. Pay attention to the music video as well, it tried to get that 80’s feeling in it. I hope you will enjoy the song.
