14th Mar 2013 (一再問究竟 – Edmond Leung)

The song that I chose for today is “一再問究竟” by Edmond Leung. Yesterday I talked of “不再問究竟” and mentioned that there is a continuation of the story by a song of Edmond to tribute Danny’s “不再問究竟” and here it is. This song came out in 2011, you can tell from the title that the two songs corresponds. The direct English title of the song is “Asking why again”. I highly recommend you to read my post on “不再問究竟” before reading the rest of this post as the two songs are related.

If you remember from “不再問究竟”, there was a guy and a kid. For this song, as time has gone by, the kid is now a grownup and became the protagonist of this song. At the beginning of the song, the protagonist has grown up and realised that night the guy was lying to him about not crying. He is now gazing at the star just like that guy, someone stepped on his shadow, but no one asked him why. He told us that he remembers that day when they meet, he always remembers about the red eyes of the guy that was crying. He is now sorry that he disturbed the guy when the guy was trying to forget about the bad memory by counting the stars. He has now mentally grown up, his naivety is gone with his youth. He wonders why nothing last forever, and how come no one could keep their promise of being together forever. He never thought that he would go through the same story as the guy that he meet in his childhood, now that he fully understood how it feels and why, he no longer need to ask why.

I quite like this song as it give a proper ending to Danny’s song. Pay attention to the music video as well, it tried to get that 80’s feeling in it. I hope you will enjoy the song.
