The song that I chose for today is “薩拉熱窩的羅密歐與茱麗葉” by Sammi Cheng. This song is from the same album that yesterday’s song (熱愛島) comes from. This song was very popular, but similar to yesterday’s song, in recent years people seems to have forgotten this song. The direct English translation of the title is “Romeo and Juliet in Sarajevo” (note that this title is also used for a documentary, and the lyrics of the song are based on the story). This is a very touching song. Also note that this song is the Chinese cover version of a Japanese song “With” by Nakajima Miyuki

As mentioned above, the lyrics are about the story of the documentary “Romeo and Juliet in Sarajevo”. At the beginning of the lyrics, it tells us that there is a young couple. They have bright eyes, it feels like that they are warm and always sunny. Their laughter is peaceful. The male is young and tall and the female is cute. They promise each other that they will always be together, even when war was around. Even though each of them has a different region and in this chaotic world war seems to pull the different race apart, the two of them never change, they stay together, share their dreams and sing this song. Love, we can rely on each other no matter whether the time is sweet or bitter. Love, there are no distinction between different region and never involve the fight between different nation. Rather to spent the rest of my love in love with you and rely on love. Regardless there is good or bad time, we will rely on each other. There is no distinction in region in love, we will not be afraid of guns and cannons. Anything happened, we will spent our life together, life or dead. But the war had locked us in the city and covered the stars and moon. There are no sunlight, we can only rely on each other and run until we see the sun again. But sadly, this couple was shot in the war, before she passed away she was carrying him to find their sun. They were a good pair of young couple, but one day both of them fall to the ground. They leave this chaotic world and contradiction, I felt that I could hear the wind are singing this song. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “流浪花” by David Lui. This is one of the most popular songs by David, and it is my personal favourite from David. I have completely forgotten about this song until yesterday I heard a section of it from the radio. The direct English translation of the title is “Roving flower”. This song is the Chinese cover version of Nakajima Miyuki’s

The lyrics of the song are about love. The lyrics start off telling us that long time ago, the protagonist and his girlfriend often go to this coffee shop. The waiter that always served them said that they are a perfect match. The tea is still taste like in the old days. But now he is sitting by himself, and fallen into his memories. He wishes to fallen in love again, he hate that he keep thinking about her. ‘Please come back’, he said, ‘make my life worthwhile again’. He feels that as if the world doesn’t need him anymore if he can’t have her back. So he wishes that she could come back. The rain is pouring down, but they can’t wash away his love. The tea is getting cold, but he is still in his thought. That waiter asked him where is his girlfriend. He forced himself to smile. He was thinking to act, wishing to lie, but he doesn’t know how to say it out loud. So he just pretended that he didn’t hear it, and drink his cold tea to cover up his sadness. Hope you will like the song. I have also linked to the original Japanese version for comparison.

The song that I chose for today is “漫步人生路” by Teresa Teng. This is one of Teresa’s iconic songs. The original Japanese version was sung by Nakajima Miyuki (who also wrote the melody) and it was call “ひとり上手”. The direct English translation of the title is “Stroll the road of life”.

The lyrics of the song are about life. It said that when the protagonist is with her love one, she never feels tired and they stroll through every stage of their life. They have reached a climax but at the same time they see another climax that they could reach, so there is always a dream that they try to turn into reality. The road of life could be bumpy, but they are not scared about it. They wish their life could be a mix of happiness and sadness. There is no need to worry about our future, instead we should enjoy what’s surrounding us. No matter it is sad or happy, every day we should found something new in our life. So let the wind blow and give us challenges as these will not stop us from moving forward. Hope you will like the song. I have linked both Theresa’s version and the original Japanese below.

The song that I chose for today is “人間” by Faye Wong. I always love this song, by as I got so many songs in my music library I tend to forget about them until I accidentally played them. I clicked on this song earlier today by accident and it brings back some memory from the past. Anyway, back to the song. The English translation of the title is “Mortal World”. This is the Chinese cover version of the Japanese song “清流” by Miyuki Nakajima 中島美雪

The lyrics of this song described the reality of our world. It main message is to tell us that the world is not perfect, not everything will turn out as we expected, but we can always make it better. It starts of saying that “the sky doesn’t necessary became clear after a thunder storm, and that there isn’t always a rainbow when the sky is clear. So you might look innocent, but it doesn’t mean that you are ignorant. Not all the relationship will have a start and end, and loneliness doesn’t always lead to worries. Though in our life, we can’t avoid pain. Let’s hope that your eyes will only see smile. Wish that every tear that you drop could emotionally touch others. Pray that every dream that you have could be achieved. The mortal world in the sky, if it really worth praising, it is only because you are there to make it feel warm. The world is big, and it is more blurry then you would have imagined, so I wouldn’t lie to you and just wish that you could understand what I am talking about. I wish that you understand, then you would know what to do with your life.”

Although the lyrics sounds a bit cruel, but because of Faye’s voice and expression you actually feel a bit warm after listening to the song. Hope you will enjoy this song as much as I do. As usual, I have also linked the original Japanese version for comparison.

The song that I chose for today is “絕對是個夢” by Karen Tong. Karen at one point was quite popular, but for some reason she seems to disappeared. This song is one of her more famous songs. Note that this is the Chinese cover version of a Japanese song call “やまねこ” by Miyuki Nakajima (中島美雪). The direct English translation of the title of the Chinese version is “Absolutely a dream”.

The lyrics of the song again are about love. The protagonist is thinking about her ex-boyfriend. She feels very painful from the day he left her, so she wishes time could wash away her sadness. Still, she can’t get rid of him from her heart, especially in rainy night when she feel lonely, but she know that he will forever maintain only in her dreams. Hope you will like the song, I have linked both this version and the original version below.
