The song for today is “數字人生” by George Lam. This is a very unique song, majority of the lyrics are numbers. Although the numbers by itself doesn’t make sense, but somehow this song is very easily sink into your head. I remembered back when I was a kid I can sing the number part of this song after listening to it for a few times. The direct English translation of the title is “Number’s life”.

The lyrics of the song talks about how our life are determined or heavily depended on numbers. 18th Sep 2015 (雪中情 – Michael Kwan/如果 –施碧梧 & 邰肇玫)

As I have talked about Michael Kwan on my post yesterday, I think I should talk about another of his song in this Friday post as Michael actually plays an important role in Hong Kong music industry. He was very famous back in the 80’s, so he got a lot of classic songs. The one that I wanted to write about today is “雪中情”. This song is a Cantonese cover version of “如果” by 施碧梧 & 邰肇玫. The direct English translation of Michael’s version’s title is “Love in snow”.

The lyrics of the song are about long distance love. The protagonist said: “The relationship with you is like white snow, it will never get dirty. Rumours are like bad dreams, we should be scared about it. When you see snow flake, the snow at my side get even heavier. Lonely long distance love, it needs extra trust to understand the love. Cold plums could withstand the snow; you are better than others. Never trust rumours, as we love each other. When I see snow fall, I will love you even more. The song for today is “一點燭光” by Michael Kwan (關正傑). This song is a true classic, back when I was a kid I often hear this song at fund raising shows. It is also a song that comes to my mind when you talk about Michael Kwan. The direct English translation of the title is “A bit of candle light”.

The lyrics of the song are about sharing and giving to warm others. The protagonist said: “Wish that the candle light could be passed to me, so that it allows me to create light. In the cold, we could travel together. Love and caring are light the sun light. My heart is free, and I am willing to take the burden. If I could be light heat and love, I would be able to guide the light from my heart. In the cold, gazing at the stars and the moon would feel cold. But I want the candle light to shine. Everyone wanted to get better, everyone wanted to move forward. Wish that you can be with me, using the warm in our heart to go against the wind.” Hope you will like the song.

15th Sep 2015 (瑕疵 – Juno Mak and Karen Mok)

Ever since I started my new job I haven’t had much time to take care of this blog (due to the long distance travel everyday and many paperwork/applications that I got to sort out due to the nature of my job). Don’t worry, no bad news are coming. I have finally sorted out most of the paper work/application and sort of got used to the working hours so I think I can get back onto this blog a bit more frequent. While I still can’t go back to a post per day, but for now I will aim to make a post once every two days :D

The song for today is “瑕疵” by Juno Mak and Karen Mok. This song actually released a while ago, even before “羅生門”. This can be considered as one of the spinoff of the trilogy. The direct English translation of the title is “Defect”. I haven’t translated this song before because the lyrics are so long :p I guess I finally got the energy to translate it.

If you still remember Juno’s trilogy’s story (if not, click here to get to the trilogy), this song is about the relationship of the protagonist and his new girlfriend. It said that she knows that her boyfriend is hiding something from her and she is trying to tell herself not to dig deeper as it could end their relationship. I will represent Juno’s line by “J:”, Karen’s by “K:” and when they sing together “T:”. J: So close to give up, why still haven’t let go. So close of dumping me, why decided to hold back? You didn’t own me anything right? Why every time I did something bad you still managed to find an excuse and let it go? You had questioned and regrated right? So close to lose you, why I still haven’t managed to changed? I got so many defects and I never cover them up. Really you got a lot of people that wanted to date you, so I am pleased that you stay. Between lovers, are there rooms for secrets? Should expose it, but worry that it will get worse. Between lovers, are there rooms for errors? The song for today is “灰色軌跡” by Beyond. This song was a theme song for a classic Hong Kong movie “天若有情”. I recently have been watching a TVB drama, as the drama often refer to the movie, it keep plying the MMO of this song as background music. So every time I heard the MMO, I sing along in my heart and it makes me wanted to listen to it. The direct English translation of the title is “Grey trail”.

The lyrics of the song, I think, is about how we being drift away from the path that we wanted to take in our life. The protagonist said: “Wine, once again indulge, when will it numb my depression, everything in the past will subside. Couldn’t break through the wall, couldn’t see the road ahead clearly. There will be more struggles and forcing. Steeping on the grey trail, it is full of water abyss. I have already taken up all the pain, regret and sigh, but in your eyes there are full of tears. The song for today is “忘記的理由” by Joyce Cheng. This is the Cantonese cover version of A-lin’s “給我一個理由忘記”. I personally really like Joyce’s version, I often loop it many times. The direct English translation of the title is “The reason to forget”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said: “It is a sunny day, but why there is rain. The past is like smoke, but ending developed a new direction. Love moved after the relationship, but this heart beat remain fresh. Get together then break up again, why after arguing for so many times we still want to be together? Come and go hurt people. The lyrics of the song are about love. I will represent Alex’s line by “M:”, Tracy’s by “F:” and together “T:”.
