The song for today is “SimpleLoveSong” by RubberBand. This is a song from 2010.
The lyrics of the song are of cause about love as mentioned in the title. The protagonist question about what’s call being attracted. His soul floated further away. There is always someone that you can’t hear what they say. The true beauty of love, he is the only one that heard about it, but hasn’t touched it. He hasn’t seen the truth yet, but he already got transferred. Or when he really in love with someone, she left and asked him to forgive her. He said “I can’t write simple love songs, just can’t write simple love songs”. He wanted a good ending, and he give a lot more than he should. But still at the end, he got dump. In a complex relationship, how could one know that love is simple? Maybe he will wast all his life. He couldn’t sleep, and he is keep thinking about that cold morning. In love with someone is just too scary. It is unlucky to be in a triangular love. Everyone will sacrifice. Writing a love song give him pain. Hope you will like the song.
The
song for today is “天下無雙” by Eason Chan. This one
is requested by one of the reader of the blog. I was going to write about this
song a long time ago, but was a bit reluctant as I know that the lyrics were
written by Richard Lam (林振強). His lyrics are typically
very hard to translate as they are usually more abstract and he uses lots of
Chinese phrase, which are hard to do translation with as there usually aren’t a
direct English phrase that could fully match the meaning. But I will try my
best for this song. The title, if translated directly into English is “World, no
double”. In terms of meaning, it is “There is no such other match that could match
this one in the world”.
The
lyrics of the song are about love. This song is very often used in wedding, as
it describes pure love. The protagonist said that when things didn’t go his
way, she will give him courage. When it is windy and rain, she will ask him
whether he feels cold and provide him with warm. Her touching eyes will relieve
him from confusion and tiredness. She will never change, and there is always a
tacit understanding between them. In the log road of life, he will find his
purpose when he is with her. Even when life is difficult, it wouldn’t make him
disappoint about life because she, the one he loves, is with him. She never
said confused or tired. She never calculates her gain. She always gives and
never stops. She shares his burden without asking anything in return. He never
said it before, but this he said thanks to her, because her love make him
complete. She is the person that he treasures the most. She is his everything,
and she makes his life shine. If she asked who in this world couldn’t find a
perfect match? It will make yesterday and tomorrow shine. He would answer: no
one could match him as much as she does. He is so please that they are a pair.
They celebrate for life that in the world there are millions of people but he
managed to meet her. He wanted to tell her that on this Earth, there is no one
that could make him feel he wanted to run toward to. Hope you will like the

The
song I pick for today is “陪你哭的不是我” by Vincy Chan. From memory,
this was one a song from Vincy’s first album, which was made around 8 years
ago. The direct English translation of the title is “I am not accompanying you
when you cry”.
The
lyrics of the song are about breakup. The protagonist said to her boyfriend
that please pity her and let her breakup. But he likes to think about their
happy time and feel bad not being able to share her sadness. He can’t let go of
his best friend (the protagonist). He cries while he speaks; holding her hand
tight and not willing to leave. She is not the one that accompanying him when
he cries as he hasn’t makes her feel bitter enough. They were just like normal
couple, always stay sweet. At the end, they are very peaceful, they should have
celebrated. They know that they have been happy, but every time when they
breakup, it hurt, but it will recover with time. He wish that she will cry, but
it is difficult. She wanted him to understand that growing up will change
things, and that might be a disaster. For his good, evening being someone that
is getting hurt, she need to pretend that she isn’t hurt much. Not willing to
let go is just because he is not used to it. Letting her go is something that
he much do when he grow up, it have nothing to do with his gut. She is not the
one that accompanying him when he cries as he hasn’t makes her feel bitter
enough. They were just like normal couple, always stay sweet. At the end, they
are very peaceful, they should have celebrated. Perhaps she hasn’t grown up
enough, perhaps this is a result of loving more than one person. She is not the
one that accompanying him when he cry, maybe because they have been through a
lot of happy time, or perhaps that she had expected this bitterness from the beginning.
She now understands these natural changes. So why not just let these tears
washed away, but why do they still not letting you see clearly. She feels that
she should make him feel too bad when she say goodbye to him. Hope you will

The
song for today is “重見家圓” by Ivana Wong. This was the
theme song of a catholic movie in 2007. I only heard it for the first time a
few days ago when I was going through my music library and I love the melody.
The direct English translation of the title is “Rebuilding home”.
The
lyrics of the song are about family. It said in the busy city, it is full of
lights. But these lights can’t penetrate through our hearts. The wind blows
over our tired face; it’s like say “my heart hurt”. In this house, there are
only cracks created from anger. Love has disappeared from the bricks. In our
big world, would we see another face that could heat up our hearts? Then in
some days, that very surprising day, the protagonist found God when she was in
a deep hole, she no longer need to stay on the street at night. Thanks to God,
she is not lonely anymore. She knows that God will accompany her. In the house,
people each other, but they don’t talk. Why home doesn’t feel like home.
Looking out the window, she see the tired sunset, she wonder which day they
will not need to argue again. Then in some days, that very surprising day, the
protagonist found God when she was in a deep hole, she no longer need to stay
on the street at night. Thanks to God, she is not lonely anymore. She is so
excited that she can’t described with words, and this changed her whole life. That
day was so surprising, the mirror that was broken could form back to one piece
(this is playing with an old Chinese saying that “破鏡重圓”,
direct meaning is broken mirror back to a whole, which means that things that
have been broken now return back to its original state.) She picked back up the
hope of love. The warm of her home makes her love her home. Hope you will like
the song.
The
song that I picked for today is “馬戲團之戀” by Kary Ng. The direct English translation
of the title is “Love of Circus”.
The
lyrics of the song are about the protagonist trying to please her love. The
protagonist tried to learn flower arrangement and make up, but she thinks that
these are not enough to win him back. Perhaps she needs to perform in the
circus, to jump through the fire loop for him. He said that she is too good to
be true and he takes arguing as a game. He dislikes it when she hugs him. He
like new things if they bring him excitement. He said that she is dumb and
stupid, but she still relay on him. She decided to perform in the circus for
him, to jump far away from the ground. To love him, she will hold back her
anger. No matter what others said she will ignore them. Even if she dies from
falling, she at least had died for him. It’s dangerous, but she is walking on
the wire for him. She ignores what others said even being with him she will
need to swallow a sword. Making the situation looks better is greater than
thinking about it when it’s over. Regardless of what he thinks and how
dangerous it is, she will perform, but at the end, he never admire her a single
bit. She is used to waiting and accepting his torture. No matter how difficult
it is, she still tries to fix up the relationship and to be his girlfriend. She
can give up on all her friend and become a clown so that everyone could laugh
at her. She will form a sad circus just for him. . It’s dangerous, but she is
walking on the wire for him. She ignores what others said even being with him
she will need to swallow a sword. Just let everyone laugh at her for being naïve.
Making the situation looks better is greater than thinking about it when it’s
over. He looks down at her, but she still work hard to perform. But she is only
human, and it is dangerous to work in high ground. Falling and falling, she put
herself in danger for him, but at the end, he didn’t even see it. Hope you will

The
song that I chose for today is “小星星” by Miriam Yeung. I quite like
this song. From memory it was a song from 2004. The direct English translation
of the title is “Little stars”.
The
lyrics of the song are about growing up. The protagonist said that when she was
around 7, she wanted to drink her mum’s coke. She toke it and hold it in her
hands and the grown up can’t make her sleep. Him and another girl got drunk
today, and she didn’t just want to get their coke. She will keep fighting even
if she will lose all her self-esteem. There is so much pressure that she even
lost her desire. Twinkle twinkle little stars, sing the song happily. But why
when she have graduated, she realised that she will need to go through tests
for the rest of her life. No one, even her lover needed to treat her well as
she will treasure all kinds of feeling. Everyone knows that if happiness come
from sacrificing, then it wouldn’t feel right. That’s why even though she have
done so much for him in hope that he will say thankyou to her, and yet she
still didn’t feel happy. Who would want to own her for life? Kind person will be
so naïve that being kind will not result in bad. She finally breakup with him.
But at least she was quite happy when she was with him. From today onward, she
thinks that being able to sleep well is the most important. And that she might
not be dare to smile when she feel happy. Twinkle twinkle little stars, life is
so simple. From start to end, sing it once, she is willing to lost her intelligent
to carry on her life. Hope you will like the song.
The
song that I chose for today is “左右無緣” by Gary Chaw. This song was a
few years ago, but I only heard it for the first a few days ago on the radio.
The title is a bit hard to translate, as it plays with words and also the word “緣”
(or its long form from context “緣份”) doesn’t have a direct compatible word
in English. There is an old Chinese saying “左右逢源”, meaning that everything
goes on smoothly (the direct translation of the Chinese saying is “left and
right would meet the source”. In here, the source referred to the source of
water, hence it means that no matter where you go, you could easily find
water.) The word “源” (meaning source) and “緣”
(meaning fate, destiny, elaborating more on this, it generally use in context
whether two people are meant to meet and form a relationship, which doesn’t
necessary need to a romance) pronounced the same in Cantonese. With the third
word becoming “無”, it basically flips the meaning of the Chinese saying.
The closest translation that I can think of for the title in English is “No
fate at all”.
The
lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that he suspected that
he bumped into his ex-girlfriend, but sadly at the moment, the power of the
light bulb was killed. He is worry that they might have meet up but the
connection keeps cutting off, causing them not to be able to see each other
even to their dead. He tried to search for clues in the city about her, but he
didn’t find any. He can only blame that when he travelled around the city and
hotels, but at a slower speed then she was. The crossing points were too far
away and they are just looping around the city. Earlier for a few second or be
late for a few seconds, how to judge early and late? Every time when he go
forward, she turned right, they couldn’t meet up. They share the same small
world and had fate. Perhaps they were only apart for six inches, but their lives
are so far apart. Every section of their lives is differed by a few inches, so
how could he still blame their lives? He guessed that he might have walked pass
her in the city, or he might have been in the same train as she was, but there
were too many people, so even if they have meet, they would missed each other. There
were lot of people celebrating on the street during Christmas, he guessed that
they might have been in the same crowd. He tried to see through each person in
the crowd, but he still missed her, so maybe he looked at the wrong place. A
short distance has turn into a long distance and they are running around in
circle. The same shop, the same city, why does it differ so much. If he looked
up and saw her, he saw the same background. But she is so far away, like
looking at stars. When he turned right she moved forward and they were about to
meet up. They are a mismatch and they are just floating in time. They are
always distanced by six inches and this six inches is making his dreams so far
away. Every sections in their lives, they differ by a few inches, this dragged they
from fate further and further away. Hope you will like the song.
