13th Jan 2013 (尋找獨角獸 – Fiona Sit)

The song that I chose for today is “尋找獨角獸” by Fiona Sit. This song came out in 2007. The direct English translation of the title is “Searching for Unicorn”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist searching for her perfect match. But instead of telling the story normally, the writer uses a fantasy way to tell us this story. At the beginning, the song tells us that the bird on the tree is talking to the God of Wind, the huge monster is talking to the flower. All the monsters are running around trying to search for their perfect match, so the protagonist decided to join the search to find her white horse. When it was snowing, she dated with a fire dragon, but she can’t stand the fire dragon when it comes to summer. Everyone is searching for a home even the weirdest one, but it seems that she is the only one that is still single. Though she believes that there is a he waiting for her and she can create miracles. She knows that she will find the unicorn, but maybe the road to unicorn just takes a bit longer than others. She knows that she will have a happy ending, so she is not worry about the bumps on her life journey. At the end she walked through a waterfall and saw elves taking a walk, she knew that she is getting close to the place that she meets her perfect match. Even if the ending is bad, she can still imagine her own happy ending, as she is still young.

I quite like this song, as I feel that it describe the feeling of young very well. This way of thinking really only exist in teenager, it is only teenager (or young adult) who could still afford to spent time to chase after their dream without giving up due to reality. I guess this song reminded me of my youth. Hope you will enjoy the song.

12th Jan 2013 (如果想我哭 – Charmaine Fong)

The song that I chose for today is “如果想我哭” by Charmaine Fong. I am not sure whether Charmaine still sing these days, but I think this song is probably her most popular song. I quite like this song, but I guess it wasn’t unique enough back in the tile when it came out in 2006. The direct English translation of the title is “If you want me to cry”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist is betrayed by her boyfriend. Her boyfriend had fallen in love with another girl. She knows that her boyfriend wanted to dump her, but she just doesn’t want to let go. She know that she is stupid doing this, but she doesn’t want to let go because she is worry that she will regret. These type of song were very common in 2000’s, so I guess that’s why this didn’t became a big hit. Hope you will enjoy the song.

11th Jan 2013 (我不要你愛我 – Miriam Yeung)

The song that I chose for today is “我不要你愛我” by Miriam Yeung. This song is one of my all-time favourite. I loved the melody of this song, but when I was young, I really have no clues what the lyrics are about. The direct English translation of the title is “I don’t need you to love me”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist know that she her boyfriend got another girlfriend, yet she played along. She can see through the purpose of her boyfriend’s action. In a way she feel that she is not good enough to match her boyfriend (that’s partly why I think she let her boyfriend to have another girlfriend), yet she love him so much that she can’t let go. So she wishes that he would love him, because that way she thinks that he will still remember and care about her (as she thinks that he will feel guilty). Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “我愛你” by Crowd Lu. This song isn’t too old, it came out around 4 years ago. I personally don’t really listen to Crowd’s songs that much as they are not really my cup of tea. But Crowd is very popular in Taiwan and Hong Kong, he is described as a guy that is full of positive energy, I guess that is what I need the most now so I choses this song for today.

This is one of the few songs that I heard of before, the lyrics are very simple. The lyrics are about the protagonist’s girlfriend had left him, he wishes that she will return. Although the story line seems to suit a sad tone, this song sounds very positive. Hope you will enjoy the song.

9th Jan 2012 (擔心 – Kit Chan)

The song that I chose for today is “擔心” by Kit Chan. I personally quite like Kit’s song. This is actually the first time I listen to this song. The English translation of the title is “Worry”. I chose this song because I got something important on the coming Friday and I am worry about it, then I came across this song on YouTube. I never heard this song before, but it catches my ear, so I thought I should try to introduce it to more people through my blog.

The lyrics of the song is about the protagonist broke up with her boyfriend. She feels that they are being pull away from each other by their living environment. She said that she is worry that her ex-boyfriend will worry about her, and she is worry that he will feel lonely in the cold night. She know that her ex-boyfriend wouldn’t be worrying about her, but still she is willing to worry about him day and night.

8th Jan 2013 (每隔兩秒 – Bondy Chiu)

The song that I chose for today is “每隔兩秒” by Bondy Chiu. I personally quite like Bondy’s songs, it is a tragic that she never really became very popular. Lucky enough, these days she found her new market in the audiophile sector, making album in very high sound quality and doing very well in that. The direct English translation of the title is “Every 2 seconds”, it is a song came out in 1995, the time when she was still doing pop music.

The lyrics of the song are about love. At the beginning the protagonist is dreaming about falling in love and finally she did. Now every 2 seconds, she thinks about her boyfriend. She think about him so much that she seems to forgotten herself. She is very happy that her dream came true and that she realised that all she need is love. She wishes that they could be together forever. Hope you will enjoy the song.

7th Jan 2013 (雪中火 – Emil Chau)

The song that I chose for today is “雪中火” by Emil Chau. I didn’t quite enjoy Emil’s music when I was young, perhaps it was because he was described as the “Killer of the 4 kings of Canton Pop” and back then I was a fan of Leon Lai (one of the 4 kings of Canton Pop). A few years ago, I went over to my friends place and accidently listened to one of the few songs that I like from Emil, it was then I really open my mind to Emil’s music. After that, I search everywhere for Emil’s songs in hope to found more of my childhood favourite songs that I don’t know the name of and also hope to search for some hidden gold. My passion of searching Emil’s song had now faded, but the song that I chose for today remain as one of my favourite of Emil. The direct English translation of the title is “Fire in the snow”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist fallen in love with a girl, but the girl is quite resist to his love. He figure out that she is worries that the mismatch of their personally would make them a bad match. She is cold in personality while the protagonist is passionate and friendly. So the protagonist told her that many things in the world doesn’t seems to match, like a warm fire on a snow mountain, perhaps they don’t seems to match, but they will understand each other and eventually work out, so he told her if she believe, then they wouldn’t fail.
