The song for today is “印象” by Sam Hui. This is one of my favourite from Sam, a song that very often popup in my head. The English translation of the title is “Impression”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist asked who was the person that caused him act abnormal that night, he found it hard not to look at her and asked for her forgiveness. He felt that he was so nervous all because he meets her, and she filled him up with imaginations. Who is the person that makes him lost his mind and touched his heart that started love, helped him escaped from sadness and searched for happiness. Who is the person that makes him felt like falling in his first love again? His heart is hiding a lot of love. He doesn’t know how to be in love and forever love each other. Accompanying each other to travel to the sky, just like how swallow fly. Together they will write a nice piece of music. Who is the person that causes him dreaming each night? Forever in his dream and always shining, making him guessing and not sure which way to go, leaving behind this deep impression. Hope you will like the song.

6th Jan 2015 (再見二丁目 – Miriam Yeung)

The song for today is “再見二丁目” by Miriam Yeung. This is one of the songs that I really like by Miriam. The title is a bit hard to translate as it somewhat involve Japanese. “丁目” are words that uses in Japanese address, it somewhat means section. So “再見二丁目” could be translated as “Goodbye second section”.

The lyrics of the song are about searching for happiness. The protagonist seems to be getting by her day to day life, noticing the minor things that she usually might not noticed and got surprised that she enjoyed them. It said, the street is full of people, but it suddenly got quite. The sky is full of cypress, but they suddenly stop moving. This moment all she needed is a can of hot tea (this somewhat give the sense of Japan as it is very common in Japan to find vending machine that sell cans of hot drinks). It really doesn’t matter how it taste. In the record store, it was playing songs from another country. That happiness, is something that she suddenly needs. It doesn’t feel close, but at least it doesn’t feel as subtle as thinking about him. Love and tone, it turns to depression as she keeps thinking. So she had been getting by happily, but only that she didn’t realise about it. If she could forget about her desire, then time will last longer and cloths will be lighter (I guess it mean less burden and less pressured). No matter where she is, she will not pretend that he is around; then she is able to travel happily overseas and eat happily. Turn around the corner, she felt like she had just skied over a wave. Listen to her surrounding, but she can still hear her heart beat. About him, she couldn’t dream of it, and she tried to avoid it. Love and desire, leave it for the next incarnation to burn it up. So she is not unhappy, but only that she didn’t realise about it. If she could forget about her desire, then time will last longer and cloths will be lighter. No matter where she is, she will not pretend that he is around; then she is able to travel happily overseas and eat happily. She can travel overseas happily and search for another things that she can rely on. Hope you will like the song.

The song for today is “我甚麼都沒有” by Eason Chan. This is a reader request. This song was one of the popular songs from Eason’s time with Capital Artists (華星唱片) during the early stage in his career. The direct English translation of the title is “I have got nothing”.

The lyrics of the song are about self-reflection. The protagonist said that he have got nothing, from luck to self-esteem and everything in this universe, all belong to someone, but he doesn’t know where he can buy them. He doesn’t have anything, even to gaze at his partner he needs to use a few more times of strength, but still it is difficult for him to get one. Those that he loved he had to let go. Those that are hard to control are waiting for him. Just like how that person that she, who he loves, leave, and they both not begging for it. So sad, but he still need to smile. Even in his dream, he found that it is hard to find happiness. Even the light from the tears couldn’t last to the end of darkness. But he doesn’t need to feel bad. Just like how he is not dare to make the promise of forever. Even god knows that behind this little bit of sadness, nothing is really that precious. He got nothing, from fun to pain and all the emotions got taken away, but he still try to search for them. He got nothing, even playing cost him a few more times of energy. There is nothing special in his life. Those that he loved he had to let go. Those that are hard to control are waiting for him. Just like how that person that she, who he loves, leave, and they both not begging for it. So sad, but he still need to smile. Even in his dream, he found that it is hard to find happiness. The song for today is “摩登時代” by Joey Yung. This song was from 2006. The English translation of the title is “Modern Time”, purposely to coincide with the name of a file that Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin stared in.

The lyrics of the song are about the interaction of a couple in a relationship. It said, who is dare to say how many audience are in the theatre to watch this, this spontaneous confronting silence act. Every section, trying to keep quite while hating the opponent. If it get bored, then stop dragging it on. No need to say, she knows that her act is much more quite than Charles Chaplin. Tried to disappeared, living separately in the city would be much happy. It obviously has ended but why hasn’t the curtain lowered yet. She can only blame that she is too strong, she tried to let it go, but she couldn’t. When they meet up, she didn’t even complain a single bit, so quite that he could easily get away with it. Too much movement, her nerves starting to hurt when she isn’t as forgetful as he is. She can hold it up, and act, but what’s the purpose? Not saying anything will in return get a lot of anger and movement. They have said breakup too many times to a point that this line no longer involve emotion. Even to the end, she still doesn’t need him to apologise. So let’s breakup, this line, they acted perfectly. When the sky got dark, they don’t have much to say to each other. They tried to last until the morning, and lucky that there was two silence movies were on at the same time, but sadly this one is so boring. Hope you will like the song.

The song for today is “再見悲哀” by Sandy Lam. This is a song from 2005. The English translation of the title is “Goodbye sadness”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist finally letting go and feel free. She said goodbye to sadness as she feel that she no longer care about the ending. Everything could be free now and she doesn’t care who is wrong. She closed her eyes and asked herself what have she lost, she felt that right and wrong just pass by her, so don’t be so stubbing to keep questioning why things happened the way that it did. Goodbye to sadness because she is not easy to be trap by tears. No matter what happened she like to let it go freely. Returning to her mental stage at the beginning, being peaceful in her heart, sounds of birds just disappeared in a second. Apart from heart, there is only heart that could free a heart. Getting annoyed all because she wanted a lot. If she is as small as a sand and as light as smoke, then there wouldn’t be trouble. Getting lost and fallen into the river. The road of love is too rough, then just treat it as an experience. If you being touch by love, then treat it as a challenge. No matter what you bump into, just try to appreciate it. When you are into it, then just try to enjoy yourself. This is the best way. No matter you are dumb or crazy, all because you remembered too much, try to forget more than you can remembered. If she only thought of the best then she will treasure herself more. The beauty of floating blossom is from the fact that it doesn’t care about it ending. Human living in this world is like a dust flying through. Who hated because someone look down at you. Goodbye to sadness as she is no easy to be trapped by tears. No matter what the situation is she just let it passes by. At the end, she is not interrupting the world, returning to the mental stage that she was at the beginning. The song for today is “二人時間” by Priscilla Chan. This is one of the songs that I love so much. I have been trying to search for a studio version for a long time, but a few years ago I realised that there is no studio version for this song. This song was first introduced in Priscilla’s concert in 1997 when she was collaborating with Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. From memory, she was the second singer collaborated with the orchestra, with Jacky Cheung being the first. The direct English translation of the title is “Two people time”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that it is enough for her to just look at him, no matter how the scenery falls backward. The eyes sight lock onto each other, as they are worry that they will lost the memory of being together. She finally manage to be alone with him. She felt that she is not on Earth. She had been waited for this for a long time. Hugging him, it is not unhappy, but she is worry that she will lose her senses, and how was she found by luck. It felt like honey mixed with a glass of water; or like some sweat drip from her eyes. Happiness is truly a dream, when it comes true, she doesn’t know how to talk about it. It felt like as if the flowers are all waiting for this moment to blossom for him. Time, when she is being hug by him she felt that it slip by without notice. Time, wrote on the outside of his door, floating around but not wasted. Let her to silently close the door to get along with the rest of her life. Let her know that when he is with her, every second that they spent together are very meaningfully. Time, laying on his eyebrow, disappearing through the ups and downs. Time, used a lot on his lips, as they talk a lot through the days and nights. Let her, in this world there is only this two people can let go of everything else.
