The
song that I chose for today is “月光光” by Mavis Hee. This is a beautiful
song and I love it so much. The only down side is that Mavis’s Cantonese pronunciation
is a bit off, so sometime it draw you back out from the song, but other than
that, this song paint a beautiful picture. The direct English translation of
the title is “Moon light”.
The
lyrics are about the protagonist thinking that her boyfriend might be betraying
her at such a beautiful night. At the beginning, the protagonist said that she
wanted to fly up to the sky as she believes that the city will looks a better
viewing from the sky. There will be thousands of lights from houses for her to
view and she can see how couples spent their night. She see that every lamp
light up a beautiful life. But she is worry to see her boyfriend turn off his
light and she wonder who would spent the night with him. Looking at the moon
enjoyably, she believes that it isn’t a night to spend by herself. No matter it
is a full moon or not, it should be enjoy with your other half. The moon song
is playing happily, but she doesn’t know how to sing along. At these nights,
she wonders who would spend the night with her boyfriend. If she could really
fly to the sky, she wanted to fly up with her lover. Twinkling lights are very
attractive, but in her eyes they are cruel. Hope you will enjoy the song.
