10th Dec 2013 (愛自己 – Gigi Leung)

The song for today is “愛自己” by Gigi Leung. This is a song from Gigi’s first album and from memory it was the first plug song from Gigi. I quite like this song, it give you a sense of freshness. The direct English translation of the title is “Love myself”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist accepting that her relationship with her ex-boyfriend has ended. She said she wanted to cry for this movie as the ending is not what she expected. But she understands that they break up now, it would save her from more sadness down the track. She realised that she never let him go and trapped him in a tiny space, she is sorry for that. She wanted to trust all he said and turn that to the truth, it is such a beautiful world, and all she know is to relay on him. Why she got jealous when the other girl wasn’t interested in her. Why when the girl is not even interested and she still brings it up. Why that they face each other every day but she feels that they are getting further apart. Every memories, she will thought about it later. Perhaps she will finally understand how to love herself when love has fled away. She understands that they are not a good match as their personalities are so different. Perhaps that she already got used to it and she doesn’t want to be apart and wish that this might change one day. She hasn’t treasured her freedom as she focused on his emotions. She never cared about their dreams, when sadness hit her, she just blame it on luck. Why she got jealous when the other girl wasn’t interested in her. Why when the girl is not even interested and she still brings it up. Why that they face each other every day but she feels that they are getting further apart. Every memories, she will thought about it later. Perhaps she will finally understand how to love herself when love has fled away.
