The song that I chose for today is “我等到花兒也謝了” by Jacky Cheung. This is another classic of Jacky. There are two versions of this song, one is in Cantonese, the other is in Mandarin, both versions share the same name. Though for today, I will only talk about the Cantonese version as I am more familiar with it. The direct English translation of the title is “I wait until the flower die”.

Personally I really like this song, the intro feels like the protagonist was listening to the radio. Most of all I really like songs that start off with the singer singing without background music (or just with simple single instrument melody) as it make the song more dramatic. Anyway, at the beginning of the lyrics, the protagonist said that the people around is quietly looking at him to see what he is unhappy about. Those people are trying to calm him down, but no matter what they do the love is gone. Even if he waits for his life, she is not going to come back. HE felt that as if he is trying very hard to get people to help him out. People quietly want to find out what he did wrong yesterday. He wonders why when he is lost, this song come up. It was a serious story from the past, but in today terms, this just become hopeless.  When she was naïve, she wonders what will happen when they broke up. She wonders would the lonely him wait for her just like this song. Now she become unpredictable and had decided to leave him. All there is left is loneliness and the ending is this song. He wonders whether she knows that he wait for so long that even the flower is dead. Hope you will like the song.
