A Song a day: 8th Jul 2013 (叮噹 – Sammi Cheng/DING DONG (僕だけのアイドル)

The song that I chose for today is “叮噹” by Sammi Cheng. This song is very old, it came out around 20 years ago. It was the Cantonese cover version of a Japanese song “DING DONG (僕だけのアイドル)” by Southern All Stars. The direct English translation of the title is “Ding Dong”.

I never really pay much attention to the lyrics of this song, I just love the melody. Anyway, the lyrics of this song are about love. The protagonist seems to be very troubled by that fact that she is not in love. Every day, she is looking forward for someone to ring the bell on her love door. She believes that her future relationship will be very happy and full of fun. Now this guy knot on the door and she opened it and let him in. She is so nervous that she is worry she will go crazy. So she lock him out and keep herself in the room and try to prepare for his love. Ding Dong, Ding Dong, she now realised that she don’t have the courage to fall in love. Hearing the bell, she knows that he is getting anxious outside and she is getting frustrated. She just wants him to keep waiting outside. Hope you will like the song.
