23th Jul 2013 (情人知己 – Sally Yip)

The song that I chose for today is “情人知己” by Sally Yip. The direct English translation of the title is “Lover, friend”

The lyrics of the song are about love and friendship. It begins with the protagonist thinking of her past. She remembers that she used to chat to this friend a lot. They wish that their friendship could stay forever. But she never thought that her friend actually fallen in love with her, and that day, she expressed his love to her. That moment, she didn’t know what to say, she didn’t want to lie, but she didn’t want to say goodbye either, so she drink another glass of wine. No wonder people said that if you can’t be friends you can’t be a good boyfriend, that night she truly understand that statement. But now as they are already friend and she didn’t know whether they could take the extra step to become partner. Now they are awake and realised that their friendship still hasn’t change. She wishes that she can travel back in time to avoid the incident so that both of them could feel better. But through his eyes, she didn’t know how to reject his request. So she still doesn’t know how to distinguish between friendship and love. She is worry that one day when their love ends, they will not see each other again. Hope you will like the song.
