The song that I chose for today is “世界由你我開始” by Emil Chau. The direct English translation of the title is “The world begins with you and me”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The lyrics begin with the protagonist telling us the he will store his sorrow without a word for his girlfriend. He loves to listen to her happiness, even for a century. There is no need for a reason to love, all it takes is courage. The ending don’t need to be beautiful either, all he cares about is the process. He wishes that she could believe there is a person that knows how to love her. He closes his eyes and prays for her. If there is no love, no matter how good a song is, it will not last. He wishes that his world would begin from her, so no matter how difficult it gets, he will not give up. The song that I chose for today is “如夜” by Anita Mui. This song is very old, I remember I had listen to it during my childhood. The direct English translation of the title is “Like night”.

The lyrics of the song are about love/one night stand. It begins with the protagonist telling us that she fallen in love with this guy on first sight. Looking through his eyes, she already knows what’s going to happen next. Knowing that they probably wouldn’t meet again after tonight, she felt that there are no limits as to what they would do. Even though she knows that they will only be together one night, she will treat it as if they will be together forever. She knows that she wouldn’t regret about this and it will be her best night in her life. The moment that she was holding her, she feels that she is on the top of the world. There is no right or wrong in this. Maybe the rest of the world will say she is stupid, but she knows that they are just jealous. Hope you will like the song.

29th Jul 2013 (忘 – Denise Ho)

The song that I chose for today is “忘” by Denise Ho. This is one of the song from the first album that I bought by Denise, and it is also one of my favourite. The direct English translation of the title is “Forget”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It is about the protagonist who is about to lost her memory. She was holding a photo and she wonder why their faces were so close together. She can’t remember when did it happened, she was thinking perhaps it was the day when they broke up. Before she begins to forget, she decided to use a camera to record it down. She asked him who he was. What he did was that he uses a cigarette butt to burn on her body to hope that the pain will remind her of her past. She thought maybe they weren’t happy together and so the happy moment would remind her of him, so perhaps pain will remind her who he was. But if she needs to go through the pain, she rather forget. Looking at these video, she felt that she once love this guy very deeply, but all these just felt like she is watching someone else life. She wanted to experienced again what they did before she forget everything, but now he felt like a complete stranger to her. This make her wonder why he wanted to break up with her. Doing so much together, she started to remember, but at the same time, she also remembered that she once tried so hard to forget, and today, she tried so hard to get her memory back. The song that I chose for today is “放棄你留住你” by Emil Chau. The direct English translation of the title is “Give you up, retain you”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist is a singer and he like to expressing his feeling through song. While other appreciates his song, no one really listen to the lyrics or understands his expression. Every time he sing, the lyrics cuts his heart and every time he cried. He wanted to let go of her and at the same time retain her, but this hurt him. He wanted to sing, but without her listening he doesn’t see the purpose of singing. There are flaws in his song if he tried to hold up his emotion, but yet he keeps singing for her. But listening to the applause from the audience sounds fake, and it hurt him even more. When there is no one around him, he keeps singing to express his feeling. The lyrics just hurt him more and he is very upset. Hope you will enjoy the song.

The song that I chose for today is “豬先生” by Andy Hui. This song was a theme song for a TV drama. The direct English translation of the title is “Mr. Pig”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist tells us that he is bourn to be dumb and naïve and no one cheered for him in his live. But he is lucky that he found this girl that love his shortcoming, making him realised that he doesn’t need to be rich to be happy. The busy world is used to give him cold shoulder, but he found himself to be useful to make her laugh, so he is glade that he is in love with her. He said, even flies, he can see their beauty. Having her to fall in love with him, he started to found his value and understand that to be happy, he must first forget his wisdom. So now, he realised that being happy is very simple, and fallen in love is easy. There is no need to be perfect, we just need to be ourselves. So being happy is easy, all we need to do is to focus on the good things. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “時差” by Hacken Lee. From memory, this song came out at the time when Hacken wasn’t doing too well in his career. The direct English translation of the title is “Time different”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins with the protagonist telling us that he just landed in Los Angeles, and soon he will be able to go back home. He felt tired, but his heart wanted to talk to her, though he realised that his words is hard to travel across the ocean, just like the boarding pass that he left behind, it will be never be found again. Day after day, he is always in a rush. Wearing the pilot uniform had given him lots of dream. But day after day, they talked less and less to each other. He wonders why they are always in the different time zone. He is scare when she speaks of the truth. Perhaps it was because he was always in the cockpit that slowly he becomes dumb. The lyrics of the song are about life. The lyrics are very complex, and I don’t fully understand it myself, but I will try my best to translate it. The song starts by saying that the protagonist might have fallen in love before she can meet the person that she wanted to fallen in love with. Perhaps there is no right or wrong, but she will found her fun. It hasn’t been long, and they are already a good pair, ready to prepare for the next stage of life. How many bad things in our world have been exposed by the media, but if it is too difficult to understand then perhaps there is no need for us to know about it. Waking up with worries is one of the worse things and you said you have never experienced it. You seem to have forgotten about patience and simply eating and drinking seems to have easily fulfilled your happiness. Holding our hands to watch TV drama and cry seems to have easily transferred your hatred to entertainment. Perhaps thinking will make us unhappy. If the sand that got into your eyes is not too hard, then perhaps there is no need to aware of it. You, what kind of feeling will make you cry, what’s missing to make you feel that you want more. Using up every second and feel that being busy is a new kind of happiness. Perhaps you are just relaying on these to make you feel less lonely and to resist to changes. The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins by the protagonist saying that in her dream, there is this person who hug her for a minute, then kissed her for 10 minutes. A stringer, how did he walked into her heart and created this excitement. She felt that she had fallen in love with him before, but had never been this closed before. There is also a Mandarin version call “灰色空間” by Show Lo (羅志祥) The direct English translation of the title for Hubert’s version is “I love you, so that’s why I got tears in my eyes”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The song begins with the protagonist saying that it is raining because god wants to cover up the protagonist crying. It hurt, and he can’t sleep at night. He let her go because he don’t want to get all three of them to become too tirade. He wished them all the best. So let the love turn to ash. He really liked her, so that’s why there are tears in his eyes. If he could face this problem, then he would not be scare of anything. So let’s bury this memory, as love is no sin. The song that I chose for today is “Do you hear the people sing?” from the play, Les Miserables. I am not sure why this song is keep popping up in my head.

I really love Les Miserables. I remember many years ago when I watched a DVD of the musical, I almost cried. Since then I always wanted to watch the play, but never had the chance, until early this year when the movie was on. The movie gave me a different feeling when I think about it now. From memory, the musical focused more on the relationship between the girl and how she was treated badly, while the movie focuses on people. Anyhow, both are very good, and the movie is one of my favourite from recent years. I hope you will enjoy the song that I chose for today.
