14th Aug 2013 (秘密 – Amanda Lee)

The song that I chose for today is “秘密” by Amanda Lee. I really like Amanda’s songs, but these days her voice had changed so much and hardly make any new songs. The direct English translation of the title is “Secret”.

Personally I don’t quite understand the lyrics, but I think it is about one night stand. The protagonist had sex with a male, but then she realised that he is not the guy that she love. She tried to hide the emotion, so that the guy would not know about the truth. Hope you will like the song.

13th Aug 2013 (蔓珠莎華 – Anita Mui)

The song that I chose for today is “蔓珠莎華” by Anita Mui. This is one of Anita’s classic songs. “蔓珠莎華” is a type of flower, its name in English is “Lycoris radiate”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The story begins on a windy night. The protagonist got dressed in her formal cloth and put on some lip stick just like that night. She then start walking on the street in hope to bump into that man that she love. She tried to forget, but the more she tried, the more she realised that this memory is imprinted into her heart. He thought of his eyes, then his arms. That night, the moon was looking at them and the two of them felt to sleep. Lycoris radiate, you had released all your beauty. Lycoris radiate, you dried in her hair. Even though its smell have vanished, but its beauty will remain in the heart. Hope you will like the song.

12th Aug 2013 (501 – Edmond Leung)

The song that I chose for today is “501” by Edmond Leung. This song was very popular, and it gives one of the peaks to Edmond’s career. “501” is a Levis jeans number, it is considered as one of their classic jean and I guess it is one of their best sellers as well.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins with the protagonist saying that his jean is very old and perhaps it is about to wear out. In the last few years it got a lot of wear and it is cover by sweat. When she was still with him, she likes to fix up his jean. But now, his jean is still fine, but she has already left him. He wonders what is lacking between the two of them. If one day she and someone else are wearing this jean, the jean will recognise him. Now he said he doesn’t need to follow what she wears anymore. So he hopes that if one day he bumps into her, she would not blame the jean for not wearing out. Perhaps the trend was short, but he still wears this jean to work every day. He said that she will not remember him as there are so many boys out there that are wearing this model of jean. But there is only one person that will have this wear out blue jean. Hope you will like the song.

10th Aug 2013 (時間之光 – Sammi Cheng)

The song that I chose for today is “時間之光” by Sammi Cheng. This was a song from 2002, the direct English translation of the title is “The light of time”.

The lyrics of the song are about life, about letting go. It begins with the protagonist saying that she once see one of her doll more important than herself. That naivety and happiness have been lost through time. She once values a friend more important than herself. They travel through life together, but eventually their friendship comes to an end. So, if you can keep the happiness, then we should learn to cry and let go. If there is a wound that we can’t forget, then try not to think about it. We need to learn how to escape from time, so that we wouldn’t waste our life. So she starts again and tries to search for her true love. But one day, her lover just decided to leave. He dreams didn’t come true and she said she needs to learn how to let go. So no matter how deeply we love each other, there will come a day when we separated. Time will heal our wound, so if we can’t stay with our love one forever, we need to be able to leave with a smile. Hope you will like the song.

9th Aug 2013 (星光伴我心 – Ronald Cheng)

The song that I chose for today is “星光伴我心” by Ronald Cheng. This is a theme song for a movie. The direct English translation of the title is “Start light accompanying my heart”.

The lyrics of the song are about the dream of making movie. The protagonist went to the cinema a lot when he was a kid. All the movies that he seen inspired him a lot and all the faces that he see on screen stay in his heart. In the cinema, there is only good time. Time has changed, but we all still hold each other hand when we watch movie. There is no need to hide our emotion either, we can cry if we wanted. Hope you will enjoy the song.

8th Aug 2013 (愛你痛到不知痛 – Jacky Cheung)

The song that I chose for today is “愛你痛到不知痛” by Jacky Cheung. This song was a theme song for a TV drama. The direct English translation of the title is “Love you so deeply that I forgot how hurt it is to love you”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. At the beginning, the protagonist wonders when he met her. But he realised that they meet each other too late, they can’t be together now. He wanted to forget, but this reminds him of her. He tried to pretend to be happy, but his make him more sad. He wishes that he could love her so deeply that he could forget how hurt it is to love her. When she left him, he felt that there is no meaning to his life anymore. He wonder who control his life, because he can’t seems to be able to control the event happened in his life. He wishes that he could chose not to fall in love with her and not to think of her. There are many possibilities, if he is not himself. So now he got no choice but to wish that he could love her so deeply that he could forget how hurt it is. Hope you will like the song.
