The song that I chose for today is “新生活” by Eason Chan. This is one of my favourite songs. The direct English translation of the title is “New life”, as today is the last day of 2013, I wish that we could forget the bad things happened in 2013 (or at least accept and embrace them if you can’t forget them) and start a new happy journey in 2014.

The lyrics of the song are about forgetting our ex. The protagonist said that every letters in the alphabet, every songs, every 8th of the month, this area, this movie, the aqua colour all remind him of the time they spent together and these marks are everywhere. The old relationship is too deep; new life has to be good. What else need to be destroyed? He has already destroyed 5 thousand millions evidences and he doesn’t want any proof left. Some name, some views from restaurants, certain looks of a character from comics; all the evidences have been destroyed, all the views have been blew up, does this mean that he could finally stop thinking about that person. There were so many promises that they made together, and everywhere are marks about their past. The old relationship is too deep; new life has to be good. What else need to be destroyed? He has already destroyed 5 thousand millions evidences and he doesn’t want any proof left. So let him destroy life and reform himself. After cleaning his life, what else would be left? Even when he has destroyed 5 thousand million proofs, there is still one left in his heart. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “兩位一體” by Denise Ho. This is the type of song that I like, slow and simple. The direct English translation of the title is “Two as one”.

The lyrics of the song are about mother giving birth, I guess female will have a strong feeling toward this song. The protagonist of the song is the mother, she said that the baby is inside her, sleeping, she wishes that he wouldn’t push. Faster and soon he wouldn’t need to be squeezed in this tiny space; just need to wait for a few more months, no need to rush. Days and nights, she touches him and waiting for his arrival. He is building his life inside her fortress. This feeling is more real than love, as they share the same body temperature. She wanted him to share her body, and no one in the world will denial this fact. All the love will go into this space, and it got so much that she almost wanted him to just stay inside her for life. Two hundred days being together as one; even if the relation will end but this moment she feels like God. She believe it worth the pain, as it proof that she is in control. He is here, not knowing how to cry, he just wanted to stay in this green house. He is the proof of happiness, no matter who he will look like, no one could steal him from her. Days and nights, she touches him and waiting for his arrival. He is building his life inside her fortress. This feeling is more real than love, as they share the same body temperature. She wanted him to share her body, and no one in the world will denial this fact. All the love will go into this space, and it got so much that she almost wanted him to just stay inside her for life. The song that I chose for today is “情人” by Beyond. The direct English translation of the title is “Lover”.

The lyrics of the song are about love, the lyrics are a bit hard to translate as it describes things that are more abstract, hopefully you will still understand it. The protagonist wishes that his ex-girlfriend wouldn’t cry for him. He wanted to leave but at the same time doesn’t want her to feel lonely. He wishes that he doesn’t carry too much sin from her. He said he doesn’t have much feeling toward her, so she shouldn’t be too attached. Oh, he wonders whether she knows that there is someone between the two of them. Perhaps it was an accident; there are tears, sins and patience. Whatever this relationship is will stay in our heart; while it got days, nights and imagination, but we just couldn’t wait. He wishes that after he left, they would meet again in a place far away. He looks at the sea and be together every day. He wishes that he is no longer worry to leave her, even if he decided to leave her world. Many seasons have passed and there are still many loves that haven’t change; there are many people like her in the world. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “給最開心的人” by Gigi Leung. The direct English translation of the title is “To the happiest person”.

The lyrics of the song are about a person that always shown to be happy. The protagonist said that when she feels very down she wanted to hear his voice. When the sky turn dark, he is like a sun, warming her up. As a friend, he always take care everyone, this uses more than half of his time, yet he still got energy to entertain others. He wasn’t too lucky with his love life, but he uses different method to try not to think about it. HE uses his experience to cheer up others. He never whining about his love life and he used all his time to help others out. She thanks him, the happiest person, for accompanied her every sleepless night. Uses his laughter to repair her bad luck, filtering out her sadness and gave her self-esteem. But no one is serious for him. He is so used to help others from sadness, he can’t let go of the duty of being happy; when he is sad, no one will take care of him. When he wanted to cry, he can’t find anyone to listen to him. After a party, who would he want to stay for? She remembers that day he disappeared and she realised that she can’t take care of others as well as he could. She thanks him, the happiest person, for accompanied her every sleepless night. Uses his laughter to decorate the world; say goodbye to disappointment. First of all, Merry Christmas, I wish all your dreams will come true!!! Since today is Christmas, so I have chosen a song that is about Christmas. This song is not about the happiness of Christmas, but rather an unsuccessful love story in Christmas, the protagonist lacks the courage to express his love. I guess these type of stories mostly happened when we are young, so I wish this song could remind you about the happy time or perhaps the excitement from our youth. The song for today is “零度聖誕” by RubberBand. The direct English translation of the title is “Zero degree Christmas”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist lack the courage to express his love. It said, on the Christmas Eve, the temperature is close to zero degree. Friends gather together, we drink, sing and dance. The protagonist wanted to tell his love one the things that he wanted to say for many years. Champagne will help him to say it more smoothly. The song that I chose for today is “幼稚園” by Twins. I absolutely hate Twins as they are the key figure that got people to care more about the looks of a singer than their singing skill. Their singing skill is really bad, but occasionally they do get a few good songs and the one that I chose for today is one of those. The direct English translation of the title is “Kindergarten”.

This song is about growing up. It start with the protagonist saying that she remember that day, the day when she first go to school. Before then, her parents were always with her. From that day, she needs to take care of herself. Her parents let her hands go, but she wanted to hold on. She keeps crying and keeps looking back. Then, until now, she walks out to the world, saying goodbye to school. She is a grownup now, and she got used to not being protected. But she is still naïve, whenever she bumps into something bad, she wanted to go back to her parents’ fortress and ignore all the annoying things. Please don’t leave and don’t let go of her hand even when the bell start ringing. Now being a grownup, no other grownup will go easy on her. Please don’t leave; going into crowded place will already give us enough training. We will understand that there is always good and bad time in our life; but by then we know that we haven’t got enough love. Always being careful make things boring, so please stop forcing her to growth up. But life is ruthless, forcing us to go to school, forcing us to walk by ourselves. Heavy burdens, so cold that feels like school rules. The clock is ticking, the school bell start ringing, why our hands start shaking. The lyrics of the song are about city development/life. At the start, the protagonist is looking out the window, he is calm. He felt that at this moment, the city is like a painting. But still he is living alone, and in a short time, there are too many changes. He heard all the jokes from the people around, suddenly all the sadness diminished. Slowly, he learns that it doesn’t matter even if the world stopped. Really, life is just like a high-rise, the city feels like an illusion and the light just feels like a encryption. Walking out to the balcony and gaze at the world; isn’t it still shining? But how many changes have it made? The night hit the forest; this flower will not blossom, but it still wanted to make noise. Between flowers, they seem to have forgotten how to love. Living in this big world, do we always have to become enemy and to become cool? Really, life is just like a high-rise, the city feels like an illusion and the light just feels like an encryption. Walking out to the balcony and gaze at the world. In this world, we tried everything to build our home. Every flower, no matter they are large or small, they give up their life for the city; when they fall, we found their value. The lyrics of the song are about letting go something that we think is important. It said that we once reached the top of the ladder, we had once hugged our important someone; everything that we see as important could be destroyed in a second. How many song in each year could be played on a daily bases and gave you the best way to burn time. That touching song was popular, but it could disappear after a very short time. The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that her boyfriend doesn’t have the gut to say the reason why he dumps her. Perhaps he doesn’t like love her anymore because she is not as good looking as an actress. So she wanted him to forgive her that she didn’t notice he cared so much about the looks. And now he is so distanced that he doesn’t even want to speak with her. If she is beautiful, with the looks of a start but got a bad personality, others will still admire her. The song that I chose for today is “寵物的畢業禮” Terence Chui. I guess this is a continuation of another song that I previous posted (9th Sep 2012 (寵物 – Terence Chui)). The direct English translation of the title is “The graduation of pet”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that they were lining up as they have to stay behind after school. He felt that they were standing there for eternality. They were eight back then, but time didn’t stay. Later they went into the same university and he went to her dormitory to drink with her. She fall in love with dancing, he fall in love with her and a few years have past. They are standing next to a lake, wearing their graduation gown. That night she was tender and lay on his arm. She was confused about her future and she wonders what she should do with her life. He felt that their love was emerging, but the wind just blow it away. They have to go their separate way from tomorrow. No matter what he does, he couldn’t stop this. It was easy for him to fall in love, but hard to put himself away from her. He wishes praying would work, but he knows that she is so great that everyone will after her. She hugs him, and he felt a bit of sadness. He wish that they could be pets, so they could hug all day long. Winter comes, and she have graduated for some time now. The song that I chose for today is “幸運兒” by Fiona Fung. I quite like this song as it is one of those with a simple melody. This song is a few years old, but this this it was used as a theme song in one of TV drama. The direct English translation of the title is “Lucky person”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that her boyfriend never worried that she would be a disgrace and he always work hard for her. He always says that she is the award God gave him. But she thinks that she is not that worthy, the only reason that makes her worthy is because he loves her. She understands that everything that she got today is all because of him. Even if the storm has covered her, and everyone attacked her, no matter what had happened, he is on her side. With him around, she can get over all the pain. She knows that no everyone likes her, and people like to act in this world; no one would tell the truth to her like he does and she thanks him for that. So please let her sing this song for him. He never let her go, even when she did wrong. She feels that she has growth up under his love, so she really wanted to sing this song for him. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “心跳無聲” by Kary Ng. This was a song from a stage drama. The direct English translation of the title is “Heart beat without sound”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that there are no sounds and each of them live their own life, but she wishes that the love god could at least blink his eyes. She can’t calm herself down. The sleeping dragonfly was awaked as it was too scared. So how could she pause her heart beat for her lover? Burn, it has no sound, but why it could wake up the person that she is dreaming of. He loves silence and calm, if he is passionate he would have walked a long distance to gaze at stars. They were already paired up before they were born. In this sea of people, he will swim with her, so now she thinks she could even hear the sound of flower blossom. Candle, is like stars; but why after blowing it out, we could better understand our love. Why are we scare to open our eyes, who would shine in fount of us.

You might feel a bit lost reading the lyrics. The drama that this song comes from was about a world where everything is restricted. So that’s why the protagonist is saying that they were paired before they were born. I think the very last line is referring to that she is worry to really understand this world, as she is worry that she will found someone more attractive than the person that she supposed to be with. The song that I chose for today is “天窗” by Joey Yung. This is a new song. The direct English translation of the title is “Dormer”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. At the start the protagonist said that her boyfriend is looking at his hot tea and calculating. The tea bag flow up and then sink. If nothing is happening, he wouldn’t had asked her to come out, she knows that he is about to dump her. Keeps the silence going, but it wouldn’t help him much longer, it would be easier for him to just run away. Really, she actually understands the pain of being untruthful, so there is no need for him to change in the last moment. There is no need to open the dormer. Pretending not know about it is a way of understanding. The only reason of being cruel to review the truth is to pretend to be truthful in exchange to feel better. There is no need to shoot her one more time with a gun. He should have been polite even when they are breaking up, so he should be paying for the dinner tonight. She said that she has got her own image, so she doesn’t want to expose her sadness too much. She will pretend that he doesn’t own her anything and they broke up because she wanted to. This ending is more beautiful than the truth and it is also nicer than the truth. There is no blood in this ending and no sadness. He doesn’t need to give her a life as the door will be closing. The song that I chose for today is “排隊” by Vivian Chan. This is a new song. Vivian started her career a few years ago when she took part in a singing competition. But she only just produced her first album. The direct English translation of the title is “Lining up”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist view on love. She said that when the sky light up, we will have to wake up. We will prepare ourselves and get out early to go to classes on time, but there are too many people waiting for cars. She heard that being too rush will spoil things, so she understands that she needs to wait in line patiently. But she finds it hard to do so and she knows that pushing in will not get her what she wanted. So she needs to get her patient back, and fight with time. There will always be someone that left behind the worries from yesterday. Friends or your other half, when you woke up you might find that they have gone missing. The story is fragmented and it is hard to guess the story. We need to have the gut to love and use our tastebud to taste whether it is sweet or bitter. There will eventually be some to share the difficulties in life, so waiting could be an enjoyment. No matter what’s the weather, many people are still waiting in line, and eventually the right person will show up. Hope you will like the song.

14th Dec 2013 (我愛 ICHI BAN – Leon Lai/世界で１番近くにいて – Masarina)

The song that I chose for today is “我愛 ICHI BAN” by Leon Lai. I have mixed feeling toward this song. When I was very young, I used to love this as I enjoyed the beat. But as I growth up, this song just sounds funny and greatly outdated, among my friends, we laugh at this song. Like many other song back at that time, this song is the Chinese cover of a Japanese song. The original was sung by Masarina, and the song is call “世界で１番近くにいて”. From the kanji of the Japanese song title, it seems that both versions have a similar title. The direct English translation of the title is “I love first” (“ichi ban” is Japanese, meaning first or the best).

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins with the protagonist saying that he couldn’t believe that when he first saw her, he felt that he was dreaming. He stopped thinking no matter whether the sky was darkened, he felt tired or that stop thinking is a sin. He never thought that after saying goodbye in a distance place they would meet again. Perturbed heart, and a bit nerviest, he fallen in love with her. Unintentionally, he once again thought that she is very charming. If they broke up this moment, then he felt that his whole life would be empty. He said “Oh my love, you’re ichi ban, no matter how far away you are.” All his love have already run to her, she is his only one. He said “Oh my love, you’re ichi ban”.
