26th Nov 2014 (心寒 – Patrick Tang and Ronald Cheng)

The song for today is “心寒” by Patrick Tang and Ronald Cheng. As mentioned yesterday, this is a song that I listened to quite often. The English translation of the title is “Chill to my heart”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist discussing with his friend how disappointed he was with his girlfriend. Since this is a duet, Patrick’s line will be represented by “P:”, Ronald’s by “R:” and when they sing together, “T:”. R: What had she done to you, the rest of the people are all talking about it. Those scare on your forehead, I am willing to listen to the scary truth. P: She is not that crazy, and she is still beautiful and kind. We had once in deep love, so I don’t want to give her a bad name. R: Who could be as great as you? I understand that you wanted to protect your love. P: I am already a loser, but please don’t make her name worse. R: The world disappointed me. P: My girlfriend gave me a heart chill. T: But at least we are still good. P: The feeling of gossiping doesn’t make me calm. R: You and I shouldn’t hope anymore. T: Girlfriend left all because of our fault. R: It was clearly her fault. P: But I will still say sorry to her, as I am willing to fall in this trap. R: You are willing to fall into this trap. P: I know that you are a good guy, willing to tell her the truth even you were so distanced. R: I just worry that I will act as the bad guy in the future, gossiping about woman. 7th May 2014 (超合金 – Patrick Tang)

The song that I chose for today is “超合金” by Patrick Tang. The direct English translation of the title is “Super alloy”, but this phrase is typically used to refer to figures/toys that are made from metal (generally robot).

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that he used to love Gundam (an Japanese robot anime), and he believe that there is something so tough that it will never get hurt. But until he was trained by love, he realised he was weak and scare. That time he knows that there are no super robots. From time, he realised that breaking up is the worst thing. Why she give him all the scares when he was just trying to search for love. She imprinted a scare on his face and after she left, he felt that his world is break in half. After being hurt, he realised that he will never be a super robot. Who would want to play with toys until they regret? Facing the cruel side of love, no one will be able to survive. In a game, there will be nothing be as cruel as she is. Robots are the only thing that could match with him. If he can leave, then he wouldn’t be harmed. If he can give up, then he wouldn’t be hurt. Let not hope for the next person that he could be a good match with, so that he wouldn’t be looking forward for his next kiss. So brave that if he manage to forget about her, then he will be electroplated with super alloy. From now on, forget about her and his hand wouldn’t even shake a bit. Hope you will like the song.

1st Oct 2013 (阿琴 – Patrick Tang)

The song that I chose for today is “阿琴” by Patrick Tang. Personally I quite like this song, but it was never really a big hit. The direct English translation is “Ar Piano”, here it is referring to a person rather than the object piano.

The lyrics of the song are about love and music. It begins with the protagonist told us that he was learning how to play piano, yet he is stupid and naïve, so when he got things wrong he was worry to asked. He know that he was not bourn as a pianist, but he think that he is luck to have the chance to learn piano with her. He wishes that he could get better on the piano if he practise more, but it seems that the more practise, the worse he get and this seems to get her try to get away from him. He thinks that the only way for them to be a match is for him to become a broken keyboard, then at least he would played a few notes for her. No matter how many times he practise, he is still not perfect at playing the piano. He can only blame himself for being stupid and he could never get her excited. He thought that if he practise, perhaps one day he would be so good that she will be closer to him, but that never happened. Hope you will like the song.

28th Nov 2012 (朋友二號 – Patrick Tang)

The song that I chose for today is “朋友二號” by Patrick Tang. This was one of my favourite songs when I was young. I didn’t quite get the meaning of the lyrics back then. The English translation of the title is “Friend number 2”.

The lyrics of the song are about a boy who has been treated as a close friend by a girl. This guy loves the girl but the girl didn’t know (or perhaps she knows but pretended not to know.) When the girl broke up with her boyfriend, he is the first person that she can think of as a friend that can accompany her. However, when the conflict was solve, she leave this guy and went back to her boyfriend. So this guy just wishes that the girl and her boyfriend could have an ongoing argument so that she can spent more time with him. Hope you will like the song.
