The English
translation of the title is “Red Bean”. This is one of the songs that I really
like (especially the fact that it is in mandarin). As I have a Cantonese background,
if it is a Chinese song, I usually prefer the Cantonese version rather than the
mandarin version. But this song is an exception. This song also got a Cantonese
version call “償還” meaning “Redemption”, but I really think that Faye
sounds better in the mandarin version. The two versions got different lyrics
(as they are really two languages, so pronunciation would be different for the
same words. So different lyrics are needed to match the melody). “紅豆”
is about a girl realised that love always have an end, she know that she and
her boyfriend will breakup someday, but she still wishes that she could treat
their love as if it could last forever. In “償還”, the girl have already broken
up with her boyfriend, but realised that there had been lots of thing that they
still have done together, so she don’t want to let go and move on until she
have done all these things.
I
have linked to both of these songs, so you can listen to them both and see
which one you like more. Hope you will enjoy them.
