6th May 2012 (重新做人 – Edmond Leung)

Today’s song is “重新做人” by Edmond Leung. Edmond is one of the singers that I like, but sadly his career was never that successful. He became a singer a few years before Eason Chan (Eason is one of the top singer in Hong Kong and in the Chinese community). Both of them become singers through the same path. But for some reason, Edmond just never got very popular.

The song that I chose for today is a song from Edmond’s 2001 album “Music Is The Answer”. This song was the second song that he sent to radio for this album. The song did reach number 1, but it wasn’t a big hit. Personally I love this song, as the melody is pretty good. Also I think Edmond’s expression for this song matches the theme well. So I really feel that it is a pity that the song didn’t get popular.

More into the meaning of this song. The song is about a guy thinking about his ex-girlfriend when his girlfriend kissing him. In the first part, it said please kissed in the cinema, this is a very cruel action, just like someone (referring to his ex-girlfriend) who kissed me and then we only became friend. The direct English translation is “Living a new life”. So I guess the central message is that we should forget our past and go on with our life. So the protagonist in the song is a bad example of the message, because he can’t forget his past and live on with what he got. Hope you will enjoy the song.
