A Song a day: 1st Apr 2012 (沒有你, 贏了世界又如何

Today’s song is “沒有你, 贏了世界又如何” by Hacken Lee. Sorry that I am introducing quite a lot of Cantonese song. This is because I listen to a lot more Cantonese songs than other languages. But even if you don’t understand the lyrics, I will try my best to explain the meaning of the lyrics. So hopefully you can still enjoy the song.

The title of this song is “沒有你, 贏了世界又如何”, it literally means, “if I don’t have you, so what even if I have gotten the world”. The reason I chose this song was because I heard a story this morning, one of my family member is unhappy with someone in one of her hobby club. To me it seems that her anger have already blind her from seeing other things and she have forgotten her primary purpose at the club, which is to enjoy herself.

This song is about when we try to achieve something, but in the process of achieving it, we slowly and slowly forgot our purpose and at the end done something completely against our original intention. It started off saying that “the world is full of competitions and time flies. Everyone tried their hardest to be better than others.” Then it said “I don’t feel lonely, because you are always there to share my pain.” One of the lines that I really like is “If I have got the world but lost all my friends, it is no different than losing everything.” When it come to the end of the song, the last line is very good as well. “I came to this world and got all my friends, so I have already got everything that I need.” This song bring out a very important message in life, happiness could be very simple, you don’t need to own a lot to be happy. Sometime fulfilling the basic need might be already enough to make ourselves happy. Hope you will enjoy the song for day.
