7th March 2013 (韻律泳 – Denise Ho)

The song that I chose for today is “韻律泳” by Denise Ho. This song came out in around 2008. I would this is one of the more mainstream song by Denise (these days her songs are quite different to the mainstream). The direct English translation of the title is “Synchronized Swimming”.

This song uses synchronized swimming to describe a love story. The lyrics start off saying that if the person that protagonist love jumped into the water, she will follow regardless how cold of hot the water is. She believes that doing this means that they are together as one. She wanted to show to the world that they are the perfect match. She wanted to be completely ‘synchronized’ (as in perfect match) with her boyfriend, because there aren’t couples that could be together but not ‘synchronized’. She wanted to be with him all the time and that she wanted themselves to be able to understand each other without saying a word. If he slow down, she will learn to slow down; if he make a mistake, she will learn to accept and forgive.  If he got faster, she will catch up. Doing so would help them to be together forever. She found that she actually quite enjoy this process of understanding each other. Hope you will like the song.
