6th Feb 2014 (分手禮 – Gigi Leung)

The song for today is “分手禮” by Gigi Leung. The direct English translation of the title is “Break up ceremony”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist wanting to break up with her boyfriend and thinking about what to buy for him as a final gift. She said it was like cannot select the stop to get off from a bus. They feel that they are not used to being hug, and so it must indicate that it is time to break up. It is hard to face this moment as they were very happy before; if they just say good bye it is just too normal, but it is also impossible for him to make it dramatic. So just let her be excited and select a gift for him, something that could represent her last kiss so that she can wish him happiness even when she say good bye. So to memorise this relationship, she chose a two sitter sofa. She hopes that this sofa would accompany him to hold his body for her. Could he just respect the break up ceremony? Even if he is tired he should respect it, please don’t just say there is no need. She wishes that he could treasure this piece of furniture. If he got sick, he could sleep in it and pretend it was her. She wishes that he could be with the sofa all the time, if he sleeps when he watching TV, he could imagine who he is leaning on. To prepare for this she is carefully selecting the gift to represent her last kiss, so that he could be happy even when she say good bye to him. To memorise this relationship, she chose a two sitter sofa. So no matter who is with him now, that new person will be filling her empty spot. Could he just respect the break up ceremony?
