A Song a day: 10th Jun 2013 (瘦身男女

The song that I chose for today is “終身美麗” by Sammi Cheng. This was a theme song for a movie and I love this song. The song did a very good job at building up the tension. The direct English translation of the title is “Beauty for life”. The movie was about a girl who thought she got dump by her boyfriend, so she was so upset and keep eating and become a fat lady. But then one day, she realised that her boyfriend didn’t dump her and will be returning to see her very soon, so she need to lose all her weight. Of cause, during the process, she had fallen in love with another guy. The ending is for you to find out; I don’t want to spoil the movie for those who haven’t watched it. The movie is call “瘦身男女”.

The lyrics of the song are about love and it totally corresponds to the story of the movie. The protagonist said that she can’t forget the hug she had with her friend. She feels that her friend loves her even more than her boyfriend. It was him who told her that working hard will make her shine. But now looking back, she realised that he gave so much to her that he forgot about himself. If this is not call love, then even God would not be happy. She knows that her feeling to him is more than a friend. So not matter how much better other looks, they would never be valued the same as him. She was glad that she got him to cheer for her. So she said if their relation could turn into love, then God would be happy. Because she is confident, so she is beautiful. For the same reason, she no longer looks down at herself, and so she can now kiss with him regardless of their background. Hope you will like the song.
