The
song that I chose for today is “目黑” by Endy Chow. Endy is not
an active singer as he is working for his family business, but in the early 00’s,
he was quite popular. The direct English translation of the title is “Meguro”
or “Black eye”. Both translation suit the title as the lyrics of the song plays
with words and used both definitions.
The
lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that his life have been
change when he first saw her. they looked at each other and got nothing to say
because their meet up were to simple. The land is like pitch black, and only
her shadow is clearly shown. Walking in Tokyo under the moon, and both of them
forgot that it got cold at night. Black eye, in the journey, they saw a lot of scenery.
But on the road, everyone doesn’t have a name. Walking slowly, there are stars
on the sky at night in Meguro. Crossing over this time, but next time they
might not pass this place again. Sitting in the Mos Burger in Meguro, they used
their hand to communicate as they both know a bit of kanji. They looked at each
other and feel that it is the end of their story. But in the last few years, he
gets a red face when he thinks about this. Black eye, in the journey, they saw
