This
song is quite similar to the song from yesterday (1stJun 2012 (錢錢錢錢 – LeoKu)). The whole team are
the same, the lyrics of both songs were written by the same person (Lin Xi), both
were created and composed by Mark Lui and both sung by Leo Ku. Both of them
come from the same album (Moment) from 2010. While yesterday song “錢錢錢錢”
explore how we could lose our sense in the journey of getting money, this song,
“十蚊雞流浪記”,
is more about what money means to different people. One thing that I need to
mention is that this song is written in Hong Kong, so when they talk about 10
dollars, it is referring to 10 Hong Kong dollars, which is around USD 1.25. In
the lyrics, it tells us how different people uses their 10 dollars, some people
decided to buy a magazine, which could help them to see the rest of the world,
but the guy decided to just focus on the financial section. Another lady found
that the 10 dollar is too heavy for her wallet, so she gave it away to a
homeless guy. The homeless guy uses the 10 dollars to get himself some food. A
boy uses his 10 dollars that he got to play games while a girl uses her 10
dollars for fortune telling in hope to search for her true love. The song ends by telling us that 10 dollars
could do many things, but it is just a luggage, we use it to fulfil our needs. In
a way, the message is quite similar to “錢錢錢錢” but get it to us through
a different way. Hope you will enjoy the song.
十蚊雞流浪記 – Leo Ku
Note: the music video seems to have nothing to do with the lyrics, not too sure why, but from the looks of it, the songs might have been a theme song for a game.
