7th Jun 2012 (Can’t bring me down – Paul Wong)

Today’s song is “Can’t bring me down” by Paul Wong. Paul is a member of a legendary band “Beyond” in Hong Kong. The band was very famous, throughout the 80’s and early 90’s. The band makes up by 4 members, and Paul was the main guitarist. Though the band broke apart around 1993 when Wong Ka Kui (the member who mostly take care of the singing part and also can be seen as the team leader) accidentally fall of the stage and was seriously injured, later on he passed away. Rumours said that Paul and Steve Wong (the younger brother of Wong Ka Kui, also a member in the band) was fighting over each other to be the leader of the band, as they can’t get along, so the band breakup. Paul and Steve both gone solo and produce albums, while Steve is not too successful, Paul on the other hand are getting better result. To date, Paul is seen as one of the key figures in Rock music in Hong Kong.

Back to the song. In the last two days, because I was a bit down, so I have chosen songs with a slower tempo. But like I said yesterday, we need to move on, but most of us don’t have the energy and courage to do so. So what I usually do is to listen to songs that got a more powerful music, they make me feel energetic. One of the songs that I listen to in this occasion is Paul’s “Can’t bring me down”.  From the name, I guess you can already guess what’s the song is about, and yes, it is exactly about not to give up, telling us that we are invincible, no matter how many time we fall, we should just get up and continue on our path. If I get you feeling down from the last two days, or that you feel weak and out of energy, I hope that by listening to this song today you would feel better.
