A Song a day: 3rd Nov 2014 (Lonely Christmas

The song for today is “Lonely Christmas” by Eason Chan. This is a reader request, personally I really like this song, I remember I looped it so many times when it was released. I was thinking to write about it last Christmas, but didn’t end up doing so because to me Christmas should be full of joy, bring up a sad song like this doesn’t quite match with Christmas atmosphere (unless you are already sad, then it might feel ok to listen to this song, but then in that case I would much prefer to play a joyful song to cheer you up :D ). So perhaps around two months before Christmas is a good time to talk about this song.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist tried to express his love to a girl before Christmas, but she didn’t accept it, now seeing everyone calibrating Christmas and being so joyful make him feel very sad. He asked who is riding the reindeer cart that just flew by and forgot to give him a present. Gazing at the Christmas light, they only look the brightest tonight, and they make his loneliness standout. Who would be generous enough to give him a kiss? So that through his lips, he could proof that he once felt happy. That snowflake above his head is trying to land on his shower, but at the end, it left him. He is worry about the awkwardness when he bump into someone, so he rather be drunk and vomit badly. His head still hurt from his headache, so he couldn’t hear the Christmas choir.
