1st Dec 2014 (飛砂風中轉 – Chow Yun Fat (周潤發))

The song for today is “飛砂風中轉” by Chow Yun Fat (周潤發) from 1989. This song is a reader request. During 1988 to 1990, Chow tried to be a singer and he made a number of albums. I guess they didn’t sell too well, so at the end he focus back on movies and now is a world known Chinese movie star. The title and lyrics of this song uses many metaphors, so what it tries to say is not what it says directly by words. The direct English translation of the title is “Flying sand got rotated by the wind”.

This song was a theme song for a movie “Triads - The Inside Story” (我在黑社會的日子), it is a movie about gangster. I never seen the movie so I have no idea how much is the lyrics related to the movie. But the lyrics are about a person in a gang doing things that he doesn’t want to do but have to do it, all because he is in a gang. In another word, being push around by power and positions unwilling (in the song it uses a metaphor of a sand being push or turned unwilling by the wind to describe this situation). It said, human in a storm, rotating unwillingly. Just like sand storm, you will have to rotate even if you are tired. An uncontrollable rush, uncontrollably hard to deal with. The warm faces, now slowly losing heat. Wo ar wo, flying sand are rotating in the wind.  Wo ar wo, flying sand are rotating in the wind. Love in a storm, it is hard to plan. Getting push around by the wave, it is hard to get together. Really, wind is empty, but sadly you can’t cut it off. Burying many favour, but how many hatred will be left. Wo ar wo, flying sand are rotating in the wind.  Wo ar wo, flying sand are rotating in the wind. As we get old, we would slowly understand the theory of the wind. All because we take the eay way to move with the wind and never made the choice. Now we are against the wind, moving boldly and passionately away. Picking back up the truth in our heart and break through the thousands in the wind. Wo ar wo, wind blow but it wouldn’t break me. Wo ar wo, wind blow but it wouldn’t break me. Wo ar wo, wind blow but it wouldn’t rotate me. Wo ar wo, wind blow but it wouldn’t rotate me. Hope you will enjoy the song.
