9th Dec 2014 (前程錦繡 – Andy Hui)

The song for today is “前程錦繡” by Andy Hui. This song was from 2007. The direct English translation of the title is “Brighter future”.

The lyrics of the song are about how we see the world differently as we grow up. The protagonist said, those years he and his friend sit quietly to protest. Those years, they were so into a toy. Those years, they fallen in love at the same time, got break up and supported each other. That year when they elect for class captain, they finally understand politic. When they walked into the society, they didn’t contribute much but got into a lot of argument. They got to know a lot of people but also broke up with many. There are not many friends left, but now got a lot of enemy. Losing one more wouldn’t make it too few, gaining one more will be way too much. At the beginning when they sing the alphabet song, they didn’t learn too much, but now they finally understand more. They learn a lesson every time they fall. The door to the school might get lock up as they get old, but they will still remember the beginning. At someone wedding they saw each other again, but the smile on their face looks weird. That year when they argued with each other, but sadly today they are both quite, got nothing to say. They only give each other the standard smile. When they walk into the society, there were right and wrongs, right and left. There was too much value, but not many friends. They didn’t had much chance to get together as they were too busy with work, so no matter how close they were they will get distanced. He doesn’t want to sing more cheer up songs. Do these songs really cheer up people? They carried too much burdens, but as each day passes they got used to it. No matter who they are working for and how much more they are getting than the beginning, it couldn’t be as good as the beginning. Hope you will like the song.
