19th Dec 2014 (心有不甘 – Janice Vidal)

The song for today is “心有不甘” by Janice Vidal. This is the last entry of the mini-series that we started 2 days ago. This is the second Cantonese version of the song “夢醒時分” by Sarah Chen, it was released in 2009. The title is a bit hard to translate to English as I really can’t think of a phase that describes this feeling. The title is a Chinese phase that is used to describe the feeling of someone when they have completed something, but not too satisfied with the result as the person believe that there are factors involved that make him underperformed and lead to this result, under normal circumstances it would not be like this. So the closest translation that I could translated to is “Unsatisfied”.

The lyrics of the song are about a love relationship that started to developed hate, but the protagonist’s boyfriend feels bad to breakup. It said, who is the person that are crossing the line recently, making him to think that he was stupid at the beginning to start this relationship. Sadly he had fallen in love with the most pointless person, so he is a bit unsatisfied to breakup. He said that he regret about all the stupid things that he did in the past, making his personality to be a bit defective. He got so scared to a point that he is not willing to believe anyone anymore, but at the same time he believe that you got to accept the flaws of the other in a love relationship.  No one could just silently accept sadness and not thinking of breaking up; in that case who should feel more compunction. Who could always remain so logical and never make a mistake; there is no point for you to search for the reason of the mistake. You might have dreamed too much during love without being embarrasses, but all is matter is that you managed to wake up at the end of the beautiful dream. You don’t need to curse the person that was mean to you, so there is no need to force yourself to do something. Hope you will enjoy the song.
