27th Sep 2013 (戒情人 – Ronald Cheng)

The song that I chose for today is “戒情人” by Ronald Cheng. This song is quite old, but I like it very much. The direct English translation is “Quit lover”, ‘Quit” here got the same meaning as the ‘quit’ in “quit smoking”. That is trying to quit an addictive thing; in here the thing is lover.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist talking about the love life of his friend. It begin with the protagonist telling us that his friend told him that she recently fallen in love with a guy that love to drink. She is not used to his coldness, but she can’t quit looking at his sad eyes. The protagonist thinks that she just love that she is being loved. She keeps saying that she needs to quit falling in love, but it seems that her soul said otherwise.  Taking a sip could let her drunk for a few minute; who ever got her addicted would be the person that will hurt her. When she cry, could her tears really clean her eyes and show her who to trust? People who lose to loneliness are the people who treat themselves bad. Looking into his eyes would in return break her heart. Does getting drunk could really ease the pain? The protagonist hopes that when she drinks at night, the alcohol would not turn into her tears.  Hope you will like the song.
