The song that I chose for today is “失戀於戈壁沙漠” by Joyce Lee. Joyce was quite famous in the late 90’s, one of her most famous song was “無悔愛你一生”, which was the theme song of the second longest TV drama (“真情”) in Hong Kong. The direct English translation of the title is “Lovelorn in Gobi desert”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It begins by telling us that the protagonist feels cold even though she is dried up by lovelorn. Everything is so dry and her heart is already dry up. She went outside of her tent and look at the sun. She wipes her sweat off by her hand. A couple in love in the desert is moving closer. In love in the desert burn more energy and added temperature. This burning Gobi desert, she is exploring by herself. Even if love is an illusion, she is willing to search for it. Lovelorn in Gobi desert, she wanted to find some happiness. Hot air is rising and she saw the beautiful scenery from a distant, people like to believe this illusion. In the sand, there is a warning sign, it said a thunder storm is approaching, so please go home and stop doing anything that you are doing. She ignores the sign and didn’t stop to hide under cover. Too naïve. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “愛到你發狂” by Alan Tam. This is Alan’s classic, it was from his second album which was published in 1980. This song is the Cantonese cover of “My Sharona” by The Knack. The direct English translation of the title is “Loving you make me crazy”.

The lyrics of the song are very simple. All the lyrics only consist of 9 words and keep repeating these nine words. The lyrics are basically “Loving you have make me crazy; I love you I love you I Love you; My Sharona” and it just repeats. These lyrics are great as it directly tell us what it is about. The song that I chose for today is “絕對” by Denise Ho. Personally I love this song, I like the way that the song start off with a simple tune by a wooden guitar. The direct English translation of the title is “Absolute”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. It said that no matter who we play with or who we decided to have a relationship with, at a certain point the heat will disappeared. It will naturally turn off and the tea would become water. In our journey, we ask who is absolute; the person for us is the one that are connected to us and after ten or twenty years, we will still be the same. So even if we lost the world, he will still be there. Even when everyone was silenced, he will still be proud of us. He would not care about our past. Others might see the protagonist as troublesome, but he never thought that way. There is no promise that last for ever. In a contract, if one party betrayed the other, the contract would be broken. So no matter how nice the person is, the relationship will not last. If the relationship is easy come and easy go, then perhaps having a partner is only a temporary thing. In that case, how do we proof that we are in love. So even if we lost the world, he will still be there. No matter where she go, he will still let the protagonist to go back with him. He never cares about her past and no matter what happened to her he still loves her. No matter we play with or who we developed a relationship with, at some point we will lost interest. The only pair that can go through all the difficulties are parents. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “一生不愛別人” by Hacken Lee. The direct English translation of the title is “I will never love another person in my life”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. At the beginning, the protagonist said that he will never love another person again and he will never need to be kissed again. Looking at her back, slowly moving away, all there left for him is just loneliness. Holding her hands and he guess they would kiss. In front of others, he pretends to be happy, but he was actually worried. He is not happy with this outcome and he his holding his tears. Perhaps they are not meant to be together this life. If she love another, why then she kissed him before? But now it is too late to ask. He is not happy with the outcome, but he kept waiting. He believes that they will meet again. He just wishes that one day when she broke up with her new boyfriend, her heart will go closer to his. He is not happy with the outcome but keep waiting. Perhaps their love has changed already. But he can’t forget her voice and her wet lip, he asked himself, how could he love another person. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “北極光” by Gigi Leung. This is a slow pace song, it was from 2004. The direct English translation of the title is “Northern Lights”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. At the beginning, the protagonist said that walking on snow, this colourful light rises for them. Midnight in Iceland, it is full of his kisses and breath. She had already forgotten where she was and her world feels timeless. If she moves too slow, she will hug him from his back and the ground will feels flat. Northern lights, they holds their hands to watch it. It the light, they forgot about their life. Even at minus ten degree, she is still sweating. Having him next to her, she feels that he will provide her with all the heat that she need. She feels that he is like the northern lights, which is amazing and enjoyable to watch. She believes that watching it with her love one will bring them happiness. When they are lying on the ground, she feels that they are closer to each other. These charming lights, she wonders how could she replicate these moments with photos. In their return flight, if they got lost and faces avalanche, she wishes that they could hug each other and never regret. Hope you will like the song.

The song that I chose for today is “愛她因為愛你” by Eric Suen. This song was from a few years ago, it is one of the few song from Eric that I actually like from recent years. The direct English translation of the title is “Love her because I love you”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. At the beginning, the protagonist said that after they breakup, he meet a person that can finally win his heart and forget the pain that he had, he thought. But his new girlfriend’s smiling face and laughter looks and sounds so much like her. At that time he didn’t realise that. He now feels that his new girlfriend is acting as her substitute without name. To him now, his new girlfriend feels likes a friend, her voice still carry that happiness and she still willing to sacrifice. He likes her because she is nice, and just like his previous girlfriend, she is also a flight attendant. He feels that kissing his new girlfriend is like kissing his previous girlfriend. Thanks to the similar smiling face and laughter, he feels that he is still with his previous girlfriend. Because of their similarity, he feels that when he hugs her, he is hugging his previous girlfriend and forgot that his previous girlfriend had already passed away. He realised that the person he love should also feel lucky, lucky for they happiness could last forever. His new girlfriend feels likes a friend, but they are so similar. HE can’t distinguish between them anymore. He loves her because he is generous, but really, no one could replace his previous girlfriend. Whatever he love is all because of her. The song that I chose for today is “我就是主角” by J.Arie (雷琛瑜). This is a new song and J.Arie is a new singer in Hong Kong. Personally I don’t think this song is a big hit, but it does show that J.Arie got good singing technique. The direct English translation of the title is “I am the protagonist”.

The lyrics of the song are about life. At the beginning, the protagonist said that she is worry that her heart will stop beating, forget all her happy memories and her will to search for excitement when she reaches new high. She can now afford a small apartment, but she has already lost her dream. So she let go of everything and catches onto the next wave in her life. She learn to hug this moment and enjoy the most out of it as she now understand that no one will know whether they will still be breathing the next day. It is because she can’t catch the moment? Or is it that she didn’t change nor hide. If she had lit on the flame in her heart, then even when the sky fall, at least the fire was once burn well. The pain and warm feeling haven’t been far from happiness and in her heart she will always be the protagonist. Youth only last for a second, so we should go out and explore the world. Uses our dream to create ripple. If we haven’t been in love and we left the world, no one will even bother looking at this broken dream. It is because she can’t catch the moment? Or is it that she didn’t change nor hide. If she had lit on the flame in her heart, then even when the sky fall, at least the fire was once burn well. Perhaps no one will clap, but she knows she is the one to determine her happiness. She felt that she is like a star in the in the pool of people. The song that I chose for today is “海市蜃樓” by George Lam. This is one of George’s classic. The direct English translation of the title is “Mirage”. This song is so 80’s, it is hard to find song that have these type of melody these days.

Everyone is joking and the happiness had spread into the air and flow into our blood. The bright sun kisses me, it felt like a tongue on fire licked me. The song that I chose for today is “半邊生命” by Edmond Leung. This is a new song, it still haven’t come out on album yet. The direct English translation of the title is “Half of our life”.

The lyrics are about love. It start off with the protagonist telling us that him and her become couple was because they wanted to hug each other at the lowest temperature night in history. That night he knows that it was too cold and he can’t live by himself. If they lost each other, he knows that he will not be able to find her again. All these years they have been together. Every time, when he was tired, he can keep going as he knows that he could lost his world anytime. But when he is with her, they act as one, then nothing else seems to matter. When they hug, it is hard to separate them, they are fused together. When they hug, he felt that as if he emerged into her sigh, her shadow, her situation; just felt like he own half of her life. It was silence and beautiful, they don’t need to communicate but they understand each other. Every couple, when their love ends, they say good bye and hug each other like a friend. Every time he saw her carrying her suit case to cross custom, he got worried. These years, she had been with her. When he was out there alone he understand that he can keep going as he knows that he could lost everything in any second. But when they are together, they fused as one. Even when they are hurt, they wouldn’t need medicine to heal. How many times did we say we only love you for the rest of our life, perhaps it is better to just give her our hug. The warmest thing on Earth is our body, so we can share our happiness, sadness and hug each other. He swear that he will take care of her for the rest of his life, but it is not better than creating a home with her. When they hug, they fused as one. The song that I chose for today is “點解問點解” by Yan Ng. This song wasn’t popular, but I found that these days it seems that very rarely you found song with this style. The direct English translation of the title is “Why ask why”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist got dump but she didn’t understand why she got dump. So at the beginning of the song she said she need to know why, what’s call lose, why she lose and why she was worry about losing. She can’t heal herself nor stop her pain. She is hurt, she felt that her wings are broken. She is falling, like swinging in mid-air. She is now buried in the hope of love. She is lost, but perhaps he would understand her feeling. She wanted to know why he chose not to love her nor treasure her. Why the love he gave her have transferred to someone else. Why their love was so great, but still at the end something went wrong. He seems to be scare about the fact that she wanted to know why. He had once said why when she was in love she needs to know why. He once also said that he didn’t want to hurt her. The song that I chose for today is “最愛的你” by Alan Tam. This is one of Alan’s classic. Like many song from the 80’s and 90’s, this song is the Chinese cover version of a Japanese song. The original was called “ラストシーンに愛をこめて” by 倉橋ルイ子 (倉橋盧伊子). The direct English translation of the title of the Chinese cover version is “The you that I love most”.

The lyrics of cause are about love. It said “stars are like the little dots on the sky. They are in the sky and on your shoulder. Every night, they smile, looking every night for every love stories. Stars, all of them like to twinkle. Next to you, who wouldn’t fall in love with you. The you that I love the most, looking at me so weakly. You were with me all the time, day by day. 20th Oct 2013 (起跑 – Shiga Lin)

The song that I chose for today is “起跑” by Shiga Lin. This song came out last year. If you have been listening to Singa’s songs, you would have notice that her song somewhat connected, they tell a love story and each songs dedicated to a different stage of a relationship. This ‘story’ was summed up quite well by her last album “Moving on”. The story goes from a girl wishing to fall in love (“讓我享受談戀愛”), to after breaking up she still wishes that they could be together (“I’m still loving you”), then to the next song (“到此為止”) which is about her ex-boyfriend have moved on, but she still think about their past. After that in the second last song (“好好過”) she tried to move on as she knows that she can’t be like that for the rest of her life. And finally to this song (“起跑”), she can finally move on. The direct English translation of the title is “Start running”, which give the sense that she is finally ready to start a new relationship.

The lyrics are of cause about love and continue on the story. At the beginning, she told herself that the past have past, but why she is still torturing herself. The past have past, but why her brain is still thinking about the past and hurt herself. So let’s stop wasting time, as she realised that she can jump out of the box. Start running has made her to pull herself away, she finally understands that she doesn’t need to fix all the things; she could just leave it aside even though when she is out of breath. There are many kilometers in life, when she have reach the end she wouldn’t remember him. After she decided to restart her life, she tried to do something new every day. She tried to take control of her life once more and escape all the troubles in life. Every day and night, no matter it was a hot day or rainy day, up in the mountain or near the cost, she will be there. When she sweet, she escape the pain, and without knowing it, running have made her feel better. Running let her escape. Sometime she is out of breath, but she finally makes a break through. This is magical, and she can run for a few more kilometers. She keep running to another day, her body is already escaped, her legs had jumped over the memories and she had got over her ex. She is sired and she understands that there are unlimited kilometers in her life. She finally feels that she doesn’t need to remember. Everything fades away. Hope you like the ending of this story.

The song that I chose for today is “認真” by Vivian Lai. This is a song from 1997 and it is one of Vivian’s classic. The direct English translation of the title is “Serious”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist told us that at the beginning, she was attracted to this guy because it was him and the environment feels right. Back then, he tried all he can to get close to her, because of that she make up her mind very easily. When they were close, they loved each other so much. But now, when they break up, it seems that this moment is most memorable. She was serious and cared about this relationship, but he loves someone else more than her. She felt that as if their contract is ended and so he doesn’t need to fulfil his promises anymore. She had been serious and sacrificed for the relationship, but now he causes her to feel down. She knows that she shouldn’t think of him, but she can’t, so the only thing that she could do is to cry. This time she is very unhappy because she is the protagonist and because she feel down. The song that I chose for today is “時光機” by Terence Chui (小肥). This was one of the songs from Terence’s first album, it was quite popular back at that time. The direct English translation of the title is “Time machine”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist was thinking that if he wasn’t rich, he might think more of his friend. If God help him, he would have work harder to show himself. If he had hold her hands as he thought on the day they dated. If, when his opponent first appeared, he had the courage to show himself and fight him until his dead, then he wouldn’t need to hide his love. He just wanted to finish the time machine for her, so that everyone can travel beyond their lifetime. The floor would be full of bullets as he tried to keep his opponent away from her. He would plan his approach and protect her every day. He wouldn’t run away and take charge of everything. No matter how low his self-esteem was he would have been holding onto her today. How great would it be if he had the courage; if he was angry when he saw his opponent; if he was smatter and if he managed to show her his love before his opponent… Let it go, he found that there is no point to think about his faults as the time machine start to count down. The song that I chose for today is “愈戰愈勇” by Ekin Cheng. This is a fast pace song, I like to listen to it when I do exercise. The direct English translation of the title is “The more we fight, the braver we get”.

The lyrics begin by saying that whoever need to run will run, whoever need to chase will chase; we will split into two teams. There could be a case in a case, a trap in a trap; everything is unclear. One mountain could be higher than another (This is an old Chinese saying, meaning that there is always some better than you are), but they are all just dirt. The protagonist said that he knows his own bitter and he will enjoy himself. He wouldn’t care what other said to him. He will spend his life protecting the truth. He had never relaxed for a second, always at his peak. When he is in danger, he will return fire. The closer his enemies get to him, the braver and stronger he gets. He will fight until the end. Success is buried in pain and hard work. The have limitless braveness in his heart. There is only one dream in his life. The song that I chose for today is “無事常相見” by Leon Lai. This song was from 2006, but I only heard it for the first time a few days ago on radio. I love the melody of the song and the lyrics are very meaningful as well. The direct English translation of the title is “Nothing special but meet very often”.

The lyrics of the song are about friendship. It begin with the protagonist said that he believe he is our best friend. He will always think of the things that happened between us. He wishes that we wouldn’t just focus on climbing up in our career and forget about our friends. Perhaps it is hard for him to make an appointment with us, but when we meet up it is worth it. The people that we call close friend are all together. How could we give up people that we know from childhood. We will meet when we wanted to meet. We wouldn’t worry to be forgotten for hundred thousand years. There may be nothing special, but we will still meet up and he will listen to our jokes. We might be meeting our partner every day, he wishes that we could forget about our partner for one day to meet with him. When he sees us, he will treat it like a wedding party. Between us, we will never talk about money, and that’s why our friendship last forever. There are no hidden plans in our relationship, and we never tried to take advantages of each other. The song that I chose for today is “理想對象” by Sammi Cheng. The direct English translation of the title is “Ideal partner”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. At the beginning, the protagonist saw many wedding photos. She thinks that the people in these photo are shining, she thought it would be ideal if him and her come here another to take a set of photos. But no matter how much she thinks, she knows that nothing will happen as she doesn’t know how to find the perfect “him”. She wanted to share her sadness with someone, but there no one that she could call. She doesn’t want to think too much why happiness is like this; how could she force a relationship to start if she had missed the last train. Ideally, him and her will spent a long time together, but how could she be sure that they will meet and love each other forever. Thinking so ideally, there must be something that will destroy her sweet dream. She thinks that if it is harder for them to meet, they will treasure this relationship more.
