15th Apr 2014 (郵差/蝴蝶 – Faye Wong)

The song that I chose for today is “郵差” by Faye Wong. This was a song from 1999. The direct English translation of the title is “Postman”. Note that this is the Cantonese version, the Mandarin version is call “蝴蝶” (meaning “Butterfly”.)

The lyrics of the song are about love. It starts by saying that snow are floating down, and they are falling down to the deep sea. Until the two legs can’t move, then she thought about leaving. Until he says he will not coming back and she say she deserves it. Taking off this love burden, perhaps she will start to believe in love. He is a thousand piles of snow, and she is the long street. Worry that when the sun rises, they will demolish. Seeing that the butterfly can’t fly across the sky, who got the right to not understand? He is a letter and she is the postman. At the end her legs are full of dust. She is too busy to transport the letter and got no time to open up the letter to look at the perfect world inside. Recognised the wrong hotel sign, recognised the wrong street that she wanted to walk. Just pretend that she wanted to keep it when it gets cold, so how could she just leave it in an unknown location. There are no cords between them, but there is a hidden ending. Autumn foliage will fly away, at the end they could only say good bye. He is a thousand piles of snow, and she is the long street. Worry that when the sun rises, they will demolish. Seeing that the butterfly can’t fly across the sky, they can only blame that time fly by fast. He is a letter and she is the postman. At the end her legs are full of dust. She is too busy to transport the letter and got no time to open up the letter to look at the perfect world inside. Hope you will like the song. I have also linked to the Mandarin version “蝴蝶” for comparison.
