A Song a day: 17th Sep 2012 (Today

The song that I chose for today is “Today” by Gigi Leung. I accidentally heard this song from my mp3 player today and it reminded me a lot about my friends. This song came out in 1999, back then it was a big hit.

The lyrics of this song are about the protagonist finished her final year of school and about to leave. She is saying good bye to all her friends. Back in the 90’s, as internet wasn’t popular, it was quite hard to keep in touch with school friends. So leaving school really feels like saying the final good bye to school friends. The song though mentioned that although it was the last day, but they were all happy as they think through all the happy time that they had. They believe that one day they will meet again. They said good bye to each other and head off to follow their dreams. Listening to this song really reminded me all the happy time that I had with my friends back in high school and primary school.
