The song that I chose for today is “挑戰者” by Mimi Lo. This song is quite old, it came out in 1995. Mimi was never really that popular. In fact she seems to fade away from the music industry for a long time until a few years ago, she was invited to a popular music contest show (it was the Hong Kong version of ‘The Voice’) and performed this song with one of the contestant. Many of the judge and the audiences realised how good Mimi could sing. Since then she became a bit more active. The English translation of the title is “Challenger”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist is saying that there is this guy who really loves her, she has reject him many time as she got a boyfriend, but this guy never give up. Her boyfriend on the other hand doesn’t seem to care. Slowly she found that she don’t resist this guy as much as she did. She also start to compare this guy with her boyfriend and wonder why this guy always bring her happiness while her boyfriend always make her angry. If it keeps going like this, she believes that one day she cannot resist this guy and will fall in love with him. So she wishes that her boyfriend could show more of his love to her to stop her falling in love with this guy. Hope you will like the song.
