The song that I chose for today is “Amani” by Beyond. I have been listening to Beyond’s song lately, even though they haven’t really have any new song for years (especially after Ka Kui passed away) their songs are still so up to date. Many themes in their songs still apply like the song “大地”, it totally reflects the current situation of Hong Kong, but it was written many many years ago. “Amani” is a word in Swahili (a language use in Africa), it means “Peace”.

From the title it is quite clear that it is a song about war and peace. Throughout the lyrics, it questions the purpose of war. It say that war is a product of a fight between power and control or a competition between Ignorance and prejudice, and if we go into a war we will never end up in peach like what we would hope for. War would only bring sadness to us, and at the end, it will just harm our next generation. Hope you will enjoy the song.
